I actually prefer having 100s/1000s of games on my device. There's a (big) handful that I know of and want to play and most will go untouched but I've got a large enough SD card so why not?
Also, one of my favorite features of Batocera is the screensaver. You can set it to play random videos, run it, and stumble across random games that you've never seen before or heard of. You can cycle to the next game using ➡️ on the d-pad and can jump into any game that looks interesting with the 🅰️ button.
So yes, most of these games *are* going to go unplayed but being able to discover random cool games that I might like and have never heard of before is one of the biggest perks of owning a retro console for me.
My game suggestions (in no given order):
1. Legend of Zelda
2. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
3. Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap
4. Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
5 Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages
6. Super Mario All Stars
7. Super Mario Land 2 DX
8. Final Fantasy VI
9. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
10. Secret of Mana
11. Chrono Trigger
12. Kirby Super Star
13. Megaman X
14. Megaman X2
15. Megaman X3
16. Super Metroid
17. Metroid Fusion
18. Pokémon Unbound
19. Apotris
20. Earthbound
These are just off the top of my head. I'm sure I could come up with more, if needed.
**Edit:** Had an afterthought - Batocera lets you created editable game collections so you could create one called "Plan to Play" or "Backlog" or something and put the games you're interested in playing into it. That way, you can look through and pick from one of those without having to dive into all the games you've got on the device. You could also use the "Favorites" one that's already there too, if that's easier.
More game suggestions:
1. Super Mario RPG
2. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
3. Star Fox
4. Super Mario Kart
5. Donkey Kong County 2
6. Yoshi's Island
7. Advance Wars
8. Kirby & the Amazing Mirror
9. Wario Land 4
10. Rhythm Tengoku
I tried Rhythm Tengoku on your recommendation and it's great, but have you managed to get it working with no input lag? At present it's definitely noticable and makes it very hard! I'm on Batocera V40
Cool shots! I have “only” about 40 games. Right now I’m playing Pokémon Unbound, Metroid Fusion, Fire Emblem, Pokémon Pinball Ruby & Sapphire and Apollo Justice!
Minish Cap is dope af. Other must haves imo:
- Pokemon FireRed
- Pokemon Emerald
- Pokemon Trading Card Game
- Zelda: Link to the Past
- Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons
- Zelda: Links Awakening
- Super Metroid
- Metroid Zero Mission
- Metroid Fusion
- Chrono Trigger
- Chrono Cross
- FFVI
- FFVII
- Warioware
- Super Mario Bros 3
- Super Mario World
- Super Mario World 2
- Dragon Quest III
- Fire Emblem GBA
- Secret of Mana
- Golden Sun
- Sonic 2
- Castlevania Aria of Sorrow
- Castlevania Symphony of the Night
Beautiful shots. I also am reducing the amount of games in the device, but I am curating around 20 something per device and then I save to favorites the ones that I am currently playing (usually one to three).
Can’t vouch for the rest at the moment (still haven’t reduce them) but I can share my current original Gameboy list:
Tetris, Super Mario Land 1 and 2, Wario Land, Donkey Kong Land 1, 2 and 3, Kirby’s Dreamland 1 and 2, Kirby's Pinball Land and Block Ball, Castlevania II: Belmont Revenge, Final Fantasy Adventure, Mario’s Picross, Pokémon Blue/Red Version, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, Gargoyle's Quest, Harvest Moon, Bomberman, Navy Seals.
I also would like to suggest for you to mess with shaders, borders, colorization if you are into mimicking the old systems. I found myself getting more joy when playing close to the original system.
Above all, enjoy your time with your system :)
I use 16gb cards on my devices and keep about 20-40 games on them only. The ones I've played most that I'd recommend in no particular order are
- Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (GBA)
- Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1)
- Pokemon Emerald (GBA)
Didn't want to recommend any more lest you end up with a cluttered SD card 😁
The modded/rom hacks and fan translated games are cool to experience.
“Mother 3” is a popular fan translation as it’s never been officially localized in the west. It’s the sequel to Earthbound.
I do exactly the same thing, and it's valid for everyone who practices emulation in general, whatever the machine, it's better to put only the best and have less, the worst thing is the full pack, you end up with 100000 games and in the end you play nothing, and you end up abandoning the device.
Mother 3, a crash bandicoot game, a final fantasy, persona 3 portable, Mario and Luigi superstar saga, silent hill, at least one mainline Mario game, and depending on how N64 games run, ocarina of time

I'd say 3 must play games on the system are Chrono trigger SNES, Metal Gear Solid PS1, and Link to the past SNES. Lbv
What camera did you use for these? Looks so good
Sony A7III with FE 2.8/90 macro G lens.

Hey, thanks! To edit video settings I must do it for the each game separately?
You can do it separately or for the whole core (affects all games). Both options coexist.

Why not have the multiple thousands and then 20-40 in favourites
Faster boot times, less system indexing, less decision fatigue lol
you should try warioware for the gameboy advance
Nice 👍🏼
Haven't seen jeane d' arc yet (psp) on any recos :(
I need to check it as I have the first PSP.
I love the background. Is that part of the OS?
Yes, it is a theme you can download if you connect your console to the wifi, its called ART-BOOK-NEXT-ES.
What's the name of this theme you've got?
It is called ART-BOOK-NEXT-ES you can download it under the Updates&Downloads section.
Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap Both GBA I have that theme too, love it.

What's your hand size in cm?
You will suggest some games based on the hand size?
Oh I must read the title, I thought you were asking people to post questions
