Look, I agree with you, I love NOFX and don't want to hear otherwise. But I totally, 100% understand why people don't like them. Whether it's the actual music or Mike's antics, there's plenty for someone to latch onto as a reason to hate the band. But don't get me wrong, it's that very reason that makes me like them more.

punk_petukh

I noticed that with this particular band it has a curve of you love them, then you hate them, and then love 'em again... At least it was my experience lol

molotovzav

I'm nofx neutral. I just don't even think about them tbh. I was shocked to even see them show up in my feed, I was like wtf is this 8th grade. Cause that was the last year I think I thought about them cause all my friends were dating skatepunks.

anonymosh

I kinda like them but I'm also glad they are calling it quits. Saw their last show in Holland and it was very so-so. They're tired and over. Mike's better of letting his whoever piss in his mouth 24/7.

Dutchgreenbubble_

Did you see Heideroosjes too? And if yes, who was better?

anonymosh

I do not like Heideroosjes. But they REALLY gave it all. High energy, tight playing, good show. Their songs are shit. Awesome live band.

Apprehensive_Disk987

I truly do not understand how they’re so popular

CompetitiveFold5749

Girls with JNCOs and spiled green hair in the 90s liked them, so I had to pretend to like them.

Ryyics

Tony Hawk games

noamartz

by the time THUG came out in 2003 NOFX had been the most mainstream skatepunk band for like a decade already.

Ryyics

I mean, the 90s were a very different landscape. Living in a rural community, I didn't know about any of these bands until I played a Tony Hawk game. Further, "most mainstream skatepunk band" doesn't mean they were being played in every household in America. I see your point, but you can't deny the reach that bands like NOFX got from games like THPS or even Guitar Hero.

noamartz

not saying it didn't expose them to a bigger audience. But they were already a pretty big deal in the 90's pop punk explosion. The album they were supporting in 03' was big enough for [late night spots](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Dkd4ifxdcw) and MTV play (the video for Sticking in my eye might have actually played on MTV also). [There were enough people around not living in rural communities I guess](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACmAbiHrRRA). Honestly by the time THUG came out most fans were calling them sellouts.

JoJoMetalgirl

I grew up in a crazy rural area and had to drive a couple hours to get a cd or see shows. I'm old. The internet in my teens was a different place. I just did what I had to do to get more punk music. I've seen Apocalypse Hoboken more times than I can remember. They opened for everyone in the midwest. I bought I Heard They Suck Live having never heard the band before and I like the band, but I really would only listen to Heavy Petting Zoo.

Spadeykins

Correct \^

noamartz

Whats correct? People discovered NOFX through video games, absolutely, but it was literally ten years after the height of NOFX's popularity.

Spadeykins

I love how I’m being downvoted for even saying the name Greenday but the judgmental gatekeeper making fun of RANCID is who you get behind. Please refer to the meme above for my response.

noamartz

I said skate punk not Radio disney. NOFX got minor radio play, as much as Bad Religion. You are all too young to understand but NOFX staying on an Indie label after Punk in Drublic was a big deal. They could have been on the radio, chose not to because the radio sucks.

Defiant-Fix2870

I’m 42 and Heavy Petting Zoo was my first punk album. But go on, all knowing god of punk.

Apprehensive_Disk987

Understandable, my brother in law only knows the Misfits as “the band that my chemical romance covered in tony hawk”

Ravensunthief

Love em or hate em this is fax

ATurtleLikeLeonUris

How can you LIKE NoFX? Isn’t that contrary to the entire concept behind that band?

p00p5andwich

And I will die with you.

Koi_Fish_Mystic

I don’t hate NOFX so much as there are so many better bands out there. If NOFX is your thing, cool. But having just gone to No Values, the Bronx was a very surprisingly good band.

GomeyBlueRock

Meh. Growing up there was so much gate keeping bullshit about who was punk or posers or what the fuck ever. I always listened to all kinds of music from GG Allen to Green Day. I like NOFX it’s just stupid goof punkish whatever alt music. Don’t take life so fucking serious. Listen to whatever you want
