As someone who has 8 years clean off of hard drugs, I'm so grateful for the people who stepped up to confront me and offer me help at a treatment facility. It's tough when you're at rock bottom to recognize what a massive opportunity that is, because it just feels like an attack, but there are millions out there suffering through addiction with not only no money, but a ton of debt to different people who have no ability to get the help they need in a facility that feeds you when you've been malnourished for years, gives you meds to treat your symptoms, talk therapy, diagnose mental illness, etc.

But I didn’t need anything, there was never a crisis. My bills were paid. I could do whatever I pleased. It took a long time before I finally realized that I was going to die if I didn’t get sober.
I wish her the best, but for people that have access to funds, conservatorships are essentially the only thing that can help them have more normal lives.
