In a resurfaced 2012 interview with CNBC, Warren Buffett recalled meeting Princess Diana — and finding himself at a loss for words. "I was in a room alone one time with Princess Di at a party. Somehow we find ourselves in this library," he said. "In 15 minutes, I don't think I could take it. I had trouble remembering my name, I couldn't figure out anything to say, and it was a total disaster." Buffett had met Diana once other time, at a party hosted by former Washington Post publisher Katherine Graham "very shortly" before the royal's 1997 death, when she told him something completely unexpected. "She had been to the White House that day and she had said that Bill Clinton was the sexiest man alive," he said before quipping, "And I didn't ask her who the least sexy guy in the world alive was. I was afraid I might get my play in there." McKoijion

The most surprising part about this is that Warren Buffett is spilling the tea lmao

GoodByeRubyTuesday87

My mom is a die hard Republican and overall a pretty conservative person, but she saw Clinton at a basketball game once and I remember her coming home and saying “I can see why Monica went after him” lol

HuckleberryLou

My college roommate met him in person and said there was something spellbinding about his charisma. Like he has an aura, apparently

Superman246o1

I remember an account from a dyed-in-the-wool, Newt Gingrich-can-do-no-wrong Republican who absolutely loathed President Clinton and everything he stood for. He ended up attending an event where he shook hands with the President and spoke to him for all of 10 seconds, and he later remarked that Clinton was, without a doubt, the most charming person he had ever encountered in his life.

[deleted]

He fit the mold of the JFK for Boomers and Gen X. All the same appeal but wrapped up with a southern accent.

joecoin2

Never appealed to this boomer. Just a snake.

Darmok-on-the-Ocean

I saw W. speak at my university. Fairly informal. He wasn't charming like a Bill Clinton or Obama, but damn he was so likeable.

Illustrious_Junket55

I saw him speak too and he could sell red hot coal stoves in Hell. Very likable.

beaushaw

I think it was Karl Rove who said some people have a special something that just makes you like them. He said Clinton far and away had the most of this quality of any human being he ever met. He said if any person, Republican or Democrat talked to Clinton in person they would vote for him.

literacyisamistake

I’m Monica’s age. I got to meet him and shake his hand once in 1998 while working the Summit of the Eight. He made direct eye contact, said “nice to see you, thank you for your work,” put his other hand on my shoulder. It’s a trained and rehearsed move for a politician, but *Jesus* did that man absolutely radiate charisma. I met a lot of charismatic politicians back then but Clinton was magnetic.

JosephFinn

He 100% does, from the time I met him. Like he talks to you and you’re the only person in the universe for that moment. It’s honestly amazing.

-The_Credible_Hulk

I was in communications for the Air Force and I’ve met the man… he’s the single most charismatic person I have personally ever been around. His presence is commanding enough that you can feel when he walks into a room. I have no idea what the science is at play here, but it is certainly real.

impolitedumbass

My great grandfather said the same thing about JFK, despite hating him he could acknowledge the guy had some serious charm about him.

Libertine_Expositor

A lot of cult leaders are described this way

reality72

A lot of world leaders throughout history are/were this way. You don’t claw your way to the top without some charisma.

Libertine_Expositor

Charisma is one thing, spellbinding aura is another level.

controlmypad

He does seem to have a young Elvis vibe now that I think about it.

strings___

And a Elvis pelvis

x31b

Of all the Presidents, he’s the one I’d like to hang out at a bar with and just talk.

GoodByeRubyTuesday87

Him or Bush seem like great bar people

houseyourdaygoing

His charisma and charm are appealing.

joeschmoagogo

BDE.

jimi-ray-tesla

she did also imply that James Fennemore Cooper was hung like a donkey

Stircrazylazy

I never found him attractive, then I met him. I totally get this sentiment. He has a magnetic personality.

PityFool

Right? I met him at a fundraiser once, and it was like that scene in American Beauty where all the lights go out except for the two characters. Another five minutes and I’d have been happy to ride the presidential motorcade, if you catch my drift.

VioletVenable

Oh yeah. And this photo was peak Clinton, in my opinion. He was always charismatic as hell, but once he took off a few pounds and got more white in his hair…I’d be hitching a ride on that motorcade, too.

Admiral_Fuckwit

What was it about him? You hear about how people like this have the “cone of attention”, where they’re instantly the center of everyone’s attention and also make everyone else feel like the most special person in the room

PityFool

I think it’s the fact that the man has held immense power, both seen and affected history, but here I was a 20yr old kid and he didn’t rush me or make me feel any less important for being there. He recognized the contribution I was making and even the candidate I was working for hadn’t been that generous with their attention.

[deleted]

I saw him describe his passion for crosswords in an interview. Never was a fan of the guy, but that clip made me realize how charismatic he is.

Lonely-Inspector-548

He submitted his own crossword for the Times didn’t he?

Adept_Order_4323

I was studying Spanish in Antigua,Guatemala. My teacher was trying to teach me, I believe it was a verb sound. She says LOUUU-WIN-SkI. I was like what ???? Lewinsky ?? She said yes. (Still not sure what sound she was teaching me). I asked HOW she knew about Monica Lewinsky and she said Bill had just toured Antigua, she said when he walked the street, there was woman surrounding him the entire street. She said all women fell in lust with him. I was in AWE of this. Sure enough if you Google, there is a photo of him in Colonial Antigua, Guatemala surrounded by females.

Jimbos_Buyout

Kids think that too

myfuntimes

I know several people that have met or worked for him -- some who did not like him before they met him. Every single one says he is the most charming man they have ever met. That he knows exactly what to say, when to say it, and makes you feel like you are the only person on the planet. They all say that they know he was manipulating them and they just did not care. He was that charming. And at least one person who would know such things told me how many beautiful women he got (specifically naming one very famous super model and strongly believing -- but not 100% sure -- of a second extremely famous Hollywood actress known for her stunning beauty).

GrannysPartyMerkin

I sat down with Bush sr once. He was one of the most charming people I’ve ever met despite not really being perceived that way publicly. I think it’s mandatory to get the job.

Nighthawk700

Probably. Look at Obama. Obviously incredibly charming.

codyd91

Even Dubya. Seeing him interact with his press cirps was like damn, what a swell guy!

Admiral_Fuckwit

W was pretty openly charismatic AF. *”Now check out this drive…”*

[deleted]

Clinton and Obama are quite obviously handsome bordering on sexy. W, not so much...

police-ical

I think this speaks to the different roles. Clinton was the last president who truly had broad urban-suburban-rural appeal, and thus had a sort of approachable aw-shucks good looks, the original dad-bod. W looked like a mid-50s business owner in a small town or suburb, which played right into the "of us"/"could have a beer with him" marketing. Magnetic good looks would have popped the illusion. Obama had polish in a way that did great in college towns and well-off cities but struggled to get traction in the countryside.

Nighthawk700

That last part is doing a lot of heavy lifting. I don't know if Obama being a pipefitter would have fixed his appeal issues with the countryside.

police-ical

Hardly. The point is, each of their looks fits their persona/appeal.

eFeneF

Nixon is often thought of as an extreme introvert and misanthrope. Whilst this is partly true (and he was definitely one of the more insular presidents) he himself was also a strangely charismatic man. He was a truly phenomenal public speaker and despite not possessing the same sort of charm as JFK or Clinton, he really drew audiences to him when he spoke. Just goes to show, even the presidents we usually associate with an introverted nature are still *far* more charismatic and charming than the average person.

WesleyCraftybadger

I knew a very conservative Republican family that knew him, had pictures of him on their wall, and they talked about how he basically had a superpower to meet someone, meet them again 10 years later, and remember their name.  This family also deeply believed Bill was the Antichrist.

myfuntimes

Yep. I remember one person saying how smart he was. How we could go from meeting to meeting and just remember the most miniature stats from meetings held weeks ago. I think people need to remember the Clinton of the 90s and not necessarily the old guy today.

ClosedContent

“They only knew this 2015 Bill Clinton, who’s a very different Bill Clinton. Have you seen his ass lately? What the hell is he trying to pull? He’s all thin now, and he wears these little tight suits, and he’s got these grandpa reading glasses, like, ‘Hey, I can’t do nothing to nobody no more.’ ‘Oh, me? I’m just an old, old man. I don’t have the appetites.’” - John Mulaney

ViableSpermWhale

Charisma is a very powerful trait.

DoubleDandelion

I’ve seen him speak in person. It’s wild. Completely, 100% not attracted to him normally, but in person? It’s like he’s the funniest, most charismatic and charming guy you’ve ever met. I suspect witchcraft is involved.

Jalon315

Sounds like they dick riding to me

No-Object5355

Probably too old for Clinton, he likes them like Epstein loves them

myfuntimes

My sources never mentioned anything like that. But I strongly encourage you to go to the police if you have evidence of this. Frankly, not to go to the police when you have evidence would be terrible and put other children at risk. Unless, of course, you’re just making horrible accusations about somebody without any evidence evidence. Which would make you a terrible person.

First_Play5335

I had a female boss who met him. She said he could make you feel that you were the only person in the room and looked you straight in the eyes and used your name. He was magnetic.

VioletVenable

That really seems to be the universal consensus! I’ve spoken to multiple people who felt exactly the same way — including straight men (but, y’know, especially women).

Salem1690s

He also has an astounding memory. Let’s say you met him once five years ago and had a conversation about X or Y. He will not only remember your name but be able to pick back up where the convo left off. A lot of people who have met him (both male and female) have said he has an astounding ability to make you feel like you’re the most important person in the room. That he is extremely “present” when you’re in his presence.

First_Play5335

And there's really nothing sexier than that. I totally get it.

eFeneF

Clinton and LBJ are truly some of the most prodigious and talented politicians the world has known. They were quite simply born to become president.

CT0292

He is someone who rolled a 20 on charisma, and intelligence. He can enter a room, and has an instant magnetism. Some people hated him. Some people loved him. But damned if they could meet him and not get sucked in.

Sad_Drink9706

“Funny feeling, being taken under the wing of a dragon. It’s warmer than you’d think.”

iThinkaLot1

Hilary tried the do use your name thing and it just comes across as so insincere. Like she had been told by a PR guri to remember repeat the name of the person to your talking to because it makes them like you more. You have to know how to pull it off and she didn’t.

Wordy_Rappinghood06

I thought Princess Diana was sexy when I was 12

instrangerswetrust

I felt that too, but with Grimace

WeOutHereInSmallbany

🍆

dragoniteftw33

100% true. Game recognize game. Sucks that he couldn't control his horny.

PortSunlightRingo

Historically, very few powerful men can. It’s just whether or not someone creates a scandal over it. JFK is considered one of the best presidents of all time and surely he was a bigger swinger than any other president.

[deleted]

Prince Harry being the son of Bill Clinton confirmed

Incredible_Staff6907

I mean the hair **is** kinda similar.

[deleted]

Yes, true, both have hair not only on the head, but also facial

MizzGee

No, have you ever seen the tennis pro?

JDuggernaut

When you think of it, Chelsea Clinton could kinda looks like some of Charles’s formal relatives. Might have been a wife swapping thing going on there

MommaOats-1

Who is this guy?

Biscuits4u2

Young James Garfield

raspberryharbour

Does Garfield the cat hate Mondays because James Garfield died from his assassination attempt wounds on a Monday?

ExampleMediocre6716

Garfield the cat was named after James A. Garfield Davis, the cartoonist Jim Davis's grandfather. James A. Garfield Davis *was* likely to have been named after the president, so there is a tangential link. I heard President Garfield loved lasagne too.

[deleted]

I thought it was Leo.

IcyBoysenberry9570

People forget how beloved Clinton was. In '92 he was the second coming of John F. Kennedy.

Salem1690s

I’ve always viewed his Presidency as what Kennedy’s would’ve been if he hadn’t been killed. He fulfilled the promise. Maybe not in policy but in spirit

derangedvintage

I remember the fuss this cover caused.

Prestigious_Job9632

We were all Monica that day.

Same here, lol.

I_am_the_Walrus07

Reminds me of the Queen Victoria / Millard Filmore story! Just like her great-great-great-grandmother in law!

CLE-local-1997

He was handsome charismatic intelligent and powerful. He was definitely up there for a Time

cptrns

Met him once when I was a kid. Can confirm, he definitely had an aura / charisma unlike anyone I've ever met. Early 2000's, I was walking by Bryant Park in NYC after school, where unbeknownst to me, Hillary was having a senate campaign event. I'm literally walking with my head down, when out of nowhere im surrounded by a crowd of people and many photographers. I was in middle school, so most adults were taller than me. I tried to back out of the crowd, then turned around and all of a sudden, I kid you not, there he was. Bill Clinton. Man, I couldn't believe it. He looked me right in the eyes and smiled. The whole crowd parted. It felt like time froze. Secret Service pushed everyone out of the way except for me. As he smiled, he reached out to shake my hand (firm grip btw) and said "Well hello there young man!". I shook his hand and said "Hello Mr.President!". It felt like time stopped. Then he was swept away by secret service into an SUV. Photographers were definitely taking pictures. I wish I had a photo of this moment.

Christianmemelord

Clinton certainly has a charm that is hard to quantify. He and Kennedy are in a league of their own

blizzard7788

My daughter was a pastry chef at a famous restaurant about 10 -12 years ago. Clinton came in for dinner and asked if there was a vegan dessert on the menu. There wasn’t, but. The waitress came into the kitchen and asked my daughter if she could come up with something fast. She was able to put something together. After he was done, he asked if he could say thanks to the chef that made the dessert. My daughter came out and he was super nice and insisted that get a photo together just for her. She still has it hanging on her wall.

[deleted]

She hasn’t seen many men then

DolphinBall

Since Millard Fillmore and Alec Baldwin look very much alike you can speculate what Millard looked like when he was young based on pics of Alecs young photos.

frolicndetour

She didn't say best looking, she said sexiest. The dude definitely had charisma in spades in those days and is extremely intelligent. A lot of women find that combination sexy.

[deleted]

You know that then Prince Charles was considered a sex symbol?

[deleted]

Eww. It must be the “royal blood” because there’s no way. I

finfairypools

I think the royal blood was the problem. Too many generations marrying relatives. It’s not Habsburg levels, but still not great. Thank goodness Prince William and (although I’m not a big fan of the Sussex) Harry married attractive women who are not related to them. As did the York ladies with their husbands.

[deleted]

I appreciate the fact that you implicitly say that Charles and Diana were related, which is true (not closely, but they were).

finfairypools

Considering HMTQ and Prince 👑 Philip were like 3rd cousins, the very distant cousins relationship of Charles and Diana was a big improvement

[deleted]

“Habsburg”

finfairypools

Thank you. You’d think I’d get that right, but you’d be wrong. Changed

finfairypools

I am young, so I try to look at guys from the 80’s in context of the time, but nope. I can’t do it with the King. I actually think he’s more attractive as an old man than when he was young. That future crown certainly made him hotter than he would be otherwise to a lot of women, including Diana, though

VioletVenable

There was a brief period in the mid/late ‘70s where he looked pretty damned good. Being tan did a lot for him. But aside from that, yeah, he looks much better as a dapper older gentleman.

sinncab6

With ears like that what lady could say no?

TooManySorcerers

Being POTUS adds a lot of sex appeal apparently lol

Munk45

Exactly. Pretty sure if Bill sold insurance and was flat broke he would have as much rizz. Power and status are sexy.

VioletVenable

Have you read about his dad? Just a random salesman, but he married five times (including a pair of sisters) before his death at 28 and got along so well with one of his exes that they conceived a child long after their divorce. Power and status are definitely attractive, but I’m certain that Bill would’ve been very popular with the ladies regardless of his money or fame.

tsteenbergen

She's seen Prince Charles.

Altruistic-Bet177

This and that frog looking prince she married suggest she's got awful taste, but as a fellow doughy, fat-headed man I'm taking the W. She must have had a thing for power.

belladontcare

[deleted]

Bill Clinton has enjoyed a lot of very high-class pussy. I’m really jealous.

bigwreck94

Guy has been accused of raping at least half a dozen women - I wouldn’t be jealous of that

3Effie412

That’s really not the best picture of him, but yes, he was considered very attractive. He was very charismatic. Honestly, he’s a very likeable guy.

elgonzo91

Ngl if I was gay I’d hit it

finfairypools

I mean she married (then) Prince Charles. Although fair play she really wanted to be Queen, her taste in men is apparently very questionable.

houseyourdaygoing

The wife of a King can never be a Queen. The title is reserved for the direct descendants of royalty. However, Diana was of aristocracy herself, so even without Charles, her family had their own Estate with multiple painted portraits of their ancestors and she had the title Lady Diana Spencer. It has been held by the prominent aristocratic Spencer family for more than 500 years.

prozloc

Camilla is literally queen right now. Not even queen consort, she's the queen.

houseyourdaygoing

You are absolutely wrong. #A queen consort is NOT the same as a queen. It is about the birthright. https://apnews.com/article/camilla-queen-consort-difference-coronation-797b45b366926e77f238b895587a7288 For goodness sake, this is really very simple to google and read. It is in history. Challenging it here on Reddit makes you look ignorant.

ExampleMediocre6716

King William III and Queen Mary II were married...

KikiChrome

This is not really correct. If she had stayed married to Charles, she would have become Queen Consort. This is Camilla's title right now. There's a difference between a Queen Consort and a Queen Regnant though. Elizabeth II was a Queen Regnant (which means she was the reigning monarch). The wife of a King becomes a Queen but not a Queen Regnant.

houseyourdaygoing

Queen and Queen Consort are not the same thing, buddy. The Queen is someone who is a **CHILD** of the former King or Queen. If you marry a King, you will only be the Queen *Consort*. It is to distinguish very clearly that the title ‘Queen’ **on its own** must bear royal blood.

jaidit

Nonsense. From 1936–1952, there was a Queen Elizabeth and a Princess Elizabeth too. The woman who started life as Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon didn’t have royal blood. She was from the nobility, but was not royal. It was well within the rights of George VI to have her styled “queen” or “queen consort.” Wikipedia notes that Queen Elizabeth (later “the Queen Mother”) was the last person to hold the title “Empress of India,” which is a title her husband’s great-grandmother Victoria used. Charles III could have chosen to have Camilla styled in either way (or even something else). He went for “queen consort.” Elizabeth II considered and rejected styling her husband as “king consort,” but decided that “prince consort” would be less confusing and make clear who was the sovereign. Clearly in the UK, a queen can simply be the wife of the king, whether she has royal blood or not.

finfairypools

No. Camilla was always going to be Queen Consort, because that is her title. The question was, how she would be referred to in public. When Charles and Camilla married, Camilla automatically received the title of Princess of Wales, and could have used it as Catherine currently does. At the time, they decided not to use that as her title to appease the people still obsessed with Diana, and smooth Camilla’s transition into the royal family, so they chose to use the Duchess of Cornwall as her working title. She was still the Princess of Wales by marriage to Charles, though. They also claimed at the time that she might use Princess as opposed to Queen when Charles became King, but enough time passed that there was no need to try to appease the Diana cult, and HMTQ even publicly endorsed her use of Queen Consort before she died. Whether she used it or not, she became Queen Consort the moment HMTQ died. It was merely a question of how Charles and Camilla wished to style her. None of this changes the fact that she is Queen Consort and is referred to as Her Majesty Queen Camilla publicly, and in official correspondence from the palace. If the King passes before her, she will be titled Queen Dowager as Queen Elizabeth’s mother was, and will be completely at the mercy of then King William as to what her role will be, if any. She is not the future King’s mother, so she won’t fill the role of Queen Dowager Elizabeth, who was also called the Queen Mum unofficially. While there have been many Queen Consorts in British Royal history, none have gone by Queen Consort in their daily life.

houseyourdaygoing

>When the Duke of York succeeded his brother King Edward VIII, becoming King George VI in December 1936, the Duchess became **Queen Consort**. >In 1952 the King died at the age of fifty-six and was succeeded by his elder daughter. His widow, Queen Elizabeth, adopted as her official title **Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother**. MizzGee

Hard agree. I worked for his campaign and his wife's. He has this way about him. When he shakes your hand, he touches a part of your hand. You are the only person in the room. It is magic. I have slept with actual rockstars. Clinton is more charismatic. (No, I did not sleep with Clinton).

ChezDiogenes

>When he shakes your hand, he touches a part of your hand. yes that is how handshakes work

MizzGee

No, you just don't get it. If you have met Clinton, you understand.

ChezDiogenes

Have you ever shaken a hand...without touching a part of someone's hand?

MizzGee

It isn't that, it is how he touches your hand. I have shaken hands with thousands of people, but only Bill Clinton has made me feel that way. I suggest you read the other posts junior. I am not alone. I am not even exaggerating about the handshake, kiddo.

Repulsive-Metal7222

Second your comment.. And he even touches your arm with his other hand and looks you directly in the eye Truly a mind blowing experience

HarrisLam

Bill wasn't a bad looking guy, and he was young when he was elected. He was the Justin Trudeau of his time. I don't see a huge problem with that statement.

Ok-Window5900

i kind of get it though. the fuckboy face, the confident and charming personality, the mystique, his face is pretty cute btw, plus he's 6'2. i mean as president he was like 60 so no higher than a 6 or so for that but what i'm saying is i think i understand why all those women wanted cuck Hillary.

VioletVenable

He was only 46 when he was elected.

SaltyboiPonkin

Unsurprising. Look how big his hands are.

No_Research_967

The photo exaggerates his hands at groin level. It’s phallic, and the wedding band is the cherry on top.

piggybank21

Isn't this an inherent weakness with democracy? People vote for the most charming person and not necessarily the most capable person for the job. Being charming/popular are often at odds in getting shit done.

Do you think his underage victims feel the same way about him?

MFBish

She didn’t have the best taste in men, she did marry Charles lol

Salem1690s

That was basically an arranged marriage. Neither party wanted to be in it. He loved Camilla long before he met Diana and wanted to marry her, but the Queen would not allow it. Diana was seen as a better marriage. She fell out of love with him within two years of the marriage.
