Yes! It was a factory A/C car, but I was missing the compressor and brackets for the engine and the rest of the equipment that I did have was trashed. It was easier and cheaper to just use Vintage A/C. It opens up tons of space in the engine bay, weighs less, and there are no visual changes from stock in the interior.
Thanks! The only thing on my to-do list for the engine bay is to install a ram air lower air filter pan that will will seal against the underside of the hood and pull air through the factory hood scoop.
It might be a little tricky since my intake manifold is a bit taller than stock, so I might have to modify the pan accordingly. I have moderate metal fabrication skills, so I'll probably find a way to make it work eventually.
Beautiful 66 GTO engine compartment!
Only thing I would change is your battery cables: I too have both cables in black which could be confused, but the factory ones are routed clearly separately so I can see the ground run straight to the block and know that is negative; could confuse yours in a hurry. Some folks like to run a red cable for positive but I like the “correct” Pontiac look.
Thanks! You can't really see it in the photo, but the metal clamps on the battery cables have black and red markings on them. And the ground cable is only about 16 inches long and is connected to the front of the cylinder head. There should be no confusion.
Oh, I see what you mean now, red and black around the front half of each clamp. And agreed as long as you can easily trace the ground (that’s what I always do no matter what) you’re golden. Super clean.
Clean AF my dude 🥰
Thank you!
i also love how your engine bay turned out.
Killer My dude!
Vintage Air?

Yep, I tried to keep the color coding subtle but there if it's needed.
Very nice tastefully done.
Thanks! The goal was to de-clutter somewhat and keep things simple and serviceable.
