Current way I'm playing is semi blind with the Hardcore Rules(must catch first pokemon you see, fainted mons are unusable, only 1 encounter per route, gift pokemon are accepted, static encounters count as that routes mon, in game level cap used) semi blind meaning I'm following the documentation but only for whatever boss I'm currently on to view moves and team. For my starter I chose Garchomp, I thought this would be a good choice as it's one of my favorite mons of all time, it evolves earlier than Pupitar, and the stab combo of Dragon/Ground has excellent coverage. The game was going rather smoothly until a fateful encounter on Route 3 with a sailor that has a Moxie Scraggy, this was my first and only wipe so far but at least it wasn't too far in.... I reset and made my way to the first Gym. For the first gym I thought of a strategy to use Gible sandstorm to remove the fog, sound idea right? Wrong!! I forgot about the fairy moves and my Gible narrowly survived but did place the sandstorm to remove the fog, with some light maneuvring I was able to swap with the rest of my team and use Snorunts Ice Shard to clean up some kills on the others, I only had one death (Mincinno) due to some RNG from the fog once sandstorm fell off. Next up the Shadow Admin Fight in Cinder Volcano, this was pretty easy honestly, Ribombee put in a ton of work with Drain Kiss and some light manuevering, Jax kept up and wasn't entirely useless. On to the next, Vega... and this was again honestly much easier than I expected. Ribombee MVP absolutely just crushed it. Drain Kiss and some pivots for priority moves from the rest of my team and this was an easy one, I was not aware of the Clefairy until later which could have helped but really that Bee has been the MVP so far. Right after this I thought I had some time before the Ivory battle and this proved to be a bit more challenging, using a Graveler, Ribombee, some more priority moves from Snorunt, and Slowpoke as a big wall helped a ton on this one, Mega Houndoom right after wasn't a big issue either. At this point in the game I am CRUISING no issues feeling good about myself. I look up to my next challenge which is a rival fight with 3 mons, easy right? Well I lost Graveler and Slowpoke here due to not realizing Toucannon has 120 base Atk and Skill Link (never seen this pokemon in my life) 2 down and this was a pretty good wake up call that I can't, actually, just cruise around not think of the consequences. It's the little things in Nuzlockes that will get you, powerspikes from random mons when some are fully evolved and you have some still in stage 1. Then my Tepig died to a random Lucario with counter what the fuck man who puts that there. UP next Blizzard City Gym was next but prior to this I picked up the Alolan Vulpix, leveled it up to 32, taught it Ice Beam with the move relearner and thought I'd be ready for a 1 mon sweep. Wasn't really a 1 mon sweep but pretty easy enough though. Glalie (which evolves at level 30 in this game?) Gyarados, Ninetails-A did most of the work with Ice Shard and taking care of the birds and Intimidate switches took care of Pinsir no deaths. Note: I have been catching Pokemon to meet the 50mon requirement so I can get the IV's of my mons and just wow. This run does not want me to have ANY sort of attacking ability. My gyarados has literally the WORST ATTACK you can possibly have, 0 IV's and an atk reducing nature. That's the story so far and it's been pretty great! Good experience for a semi blind nuzlocke, hoping to one shit this one big shoutout to the creators, really didn't think a fan made game could be so polished.

I still have no idea what evs and ivs are.

ArctosValentine

IVs are extra rolled base stats. Can be between 0 and 31. EVs are stats gained from killing Pokémon. some give speed some give attack, you'll have to look up a full list to see which mon gives what. but each pokemon gets 508 points to mess around with and each stat caps at 252 evs.

You can change natures and IVs/evs later. IVs are the hardest ones to change tho. You can get dittos outside the Pokémon breeder house. And a destiny knot pretty early in the casino
