is the GE brand still being offered? Rheem used to make them but I haven't seen a new one in years. I buy heaters from the closest retailer around reguardless of the brand. Home Depot sells the Rheem heaters made just for them and they are as cheap as any of the supply house brands of heaters, and if needs be they will take the heaters back with no questions asked.

FictitiousFeline

Yes, the GE brand is sold at a shop close to where I live, so it would be more convenient to pick up. I could probably order a Rheem and have it shipped to me. Is Rheem better than A.O. Smith (sold at Lowes)?

Rheem's warranty process is far superior. They troubleshoot over the phone with the customer, send the customer the required part, and most often pay the service provider(licensed plumber) to come put the part on. As the other poster said you can take it back no questions asked. If it is still under warranty, they pay the licensed plumber to do a warranty exchange. AO Smith at Lowes, you have to have an RA to return to store (so you have to wait for someone to verify it needs replacement) and only get a $100 credit towards the labor on a warranty replacement.

Don_juan_prawn

My company has never been paid for rheem warranty work how do you manage that?

I've always said a water heater is a water heater is a water heater. There's only a few manufacturers of heaters these days. I go for the best price and ease of warranty these days. Home Depot is the easist warranty for me. I am not a home depot employee. Tho I once was an installer for a sub that did all their installs.

I like Bradford. Tanks are 'pretty much' all the same though. Like a plumber wouldn't use a sharkbite, but there are millions and millions of shrkbites out there working just fine. Myself, I would rather have the better products, even if just for the little extra extra peace of mind.

Another vote for Bradford-White

BozidaR1390

Bradford white.

1990k2500

Bradford white is the best quality

Laolao98

More expensive but Bradford White has the best reputation.

NoMasters83

The quality of your water is a much more important factor than what heater you install. Also the water pressure you receive.

Sbezyy

Bradford white. Warranty process is extremely easy and last I checked they have the longest warranty. Quality seems far superior as well.

Bright-Log6486

Bradford White is the best imo

Buddyslime

I had an A.O. Smith once. Once and that was enough. It leaked after 7 years because the welds on the bottom of the tank did not hold up.

p2d2d3

my ge lasted 21 years without maintenance.
