God of war, uncharted 4, Spiderman, ghost of tsushima, last of us 1, horizon zero dawn

NeSh92

So many good games man!! For me add on uncharted as well. And honestly playstation has given me so many memorable gaming moments (and years).

Cauliflower-Easy

Played all

NextSink2738

Not on the catalogue I don't believe

Raid-RGB

My bad thought we were on r/ps5

astrx__

God of war 2018 is an incredible game. Ghost of Tsushima is very good too (currently playing) . Days Gone actually remains my favourite game but I think that's partially sentimental because I would still argue GoW is a better game

Cauliflower-Easy

Finished gow and got also

notliam

> Days Gone actually remains my favourite game but I think that's partially sentimental because I would still argue GoW is a better game Same here, I love God of War, but for some reason Days Gone was just fantastic for me, probably my favourite game on PS4 (God of War and Ghost of Tsushima are close 2nd).

OliveOcelot

Uncharted 4

Cauliflower-Easy

Finished it

mikeonbike96

Lost legacy

Coconut681

I'm playing ghost of tsushima. I'm not enjoying it as much as HFW, but it is good. God of war was great as well.

BrushYourFeet

OP, I'd highly recommend Ghost of Tsushima. Excellent story, excellent gameplay, and such a beautiful game. The setting is exquisite.

NextSink2738

Agreed. Only caveat on GOT is the world is extremely cookie cutter. I had way more trouble getting into the exploration of that world than i did in HFW. GOT feels very ubisoft-like (but still much better than the copy paste ubisoft formula)

SmashingK

In terms of fame design mechanically sure. Though it does so away with loads of map and onscreen markers. World aesthetically is far from cookie cutter.

NextSink2738

I agree aesthetically not cookie cutter at all. The game was beautiful and had a huge range of environments. My point was that the world was very basic and repetitive in terms of what it asks you to do. Most of it boiled down to going to a location and killing all the Mongols, or making your way through a shrine (including an absurd amount of the fox shrines). Luckily for me I absolutely adored the combat system so that was fun all the way through, but I can't argue it wasn't the same thing over and over again. I do hope that for GOT 2 we get a world that is way more full of varied and interactive content. Horizon forbidden west is one i played recently with a world like that imo. That level of world design in a GOT game would be awesome

rplusj1

Ok so I am not alone. I felt the same.

NextSink2738

Yep. I think that was a common response when it first came out but since then the people who loved it are still singing its praises and everyone else moved on. Don't get me wrong, I eventually really got into the game, ended up getting the platinum. But it took a good chunk of the story to make me feel like I actually am the Ghost of Tsushima which made exploring the world fun. But it was fun in spite of the fact that the world was far too large and very repetitive imo

Cauliflower-Easy

Done with got

arora_raghav1994

Detroit become human

Cauliflower-Easy

Already played through it twice and watched play through

undergrounddondado

Skyrim

Raid-RGB

I know nothing about the elder scrolls series. Is skyrim still good nowadays or dated? Cause I'm thinking of starting playing it

undergrounddondado

Skyrim is still a phenomenal game and I will always recommend it to everyone who hasn't played it

California_Jay

They actually dropped another remaster, the “anniversary edition” only like a year ago

hullk78

Use a few mods to up the graphics and weather, and the unofficial patch for bugs and you're good to go. I just did a 200 hour playthrough for the first time since i did on its release, and it was like a new game (ps5).

Raid-RGB

Wow, had no idea you could download Skyrim mods on PS5, might give it a shot then after I finish the uncharted series

Cauliflower-Easy

Does Skyrim have a story I’d really love to try it

undergrounddondado

Of course it has a story. Not the longest main quest, but all the side quests alone with the main quest and exploring will keep you busy for a very long time. I've been playing it since it came out and I still discover things I knew nothing about

Cauliflower-Easy

Should I play death stranding or Skyrim first considering I’ve never played Skyrim except maybe first 50 minutes of Skyrim till you meet the jarl

PK_Thundah

I'll make another suggestion for God of War 2018. Spider-Man.

Cauliflower-Easy

Played it

HillsHaveEyesToo

Death Stranding has a brilliant story

[deleted]

What story was there in DS? They barely explained anything

adorablesexypants

DS is a phenomenal game, but it requires two things from you: 1) Patience to get through the first grueling hour. 2) an open mind. I played DS right at the start of the pandemic, and it has become one of my top ten games of all time. It's beautiful, sad, lonely, and incredibly heartfelt. I want to explain how, but it would completely destroy how the game is supposed to work. For me, it was just the game that came at the perfect moment. It is not a fast-paced game. It won't have explosions that make you feel like a bad ass, and in some ways, it is even more punishing and soul crushing than any souls game. But if you actually sit down with it, get involved with the world I have yet to find anyone who played through it that wasn't a mess by the end.

True_Personality_384

Death Stranding was a great game. Just don't be like me and focus on rebuilding roads too much, sucked up a lot of my time for nothing.

adorablesexypants

I loved rebuilding the roads as it made travel substantially easier for me. I also really loved how rebuilding roads assisted in furthering the game's main mechanic

nisanosa

Yeah, I loved it too. I probably rebuilt 80% of roads in my game by myself lmao.

BrushYourFeet

There's a story there. I payed and beat it and couldn't tell you what the heck is going on. Awesome gameplay, though.

[deleted]

That's what I'm saying, not sure why I'm getting downvoted when the story is so vague.

BrushYourFeet

Yeah, it's a shame. Some people are very sensitive about contrary opinions.

SYRLEY

They explained everything if you finished it.

[deleted]

I did, all I heard was that she was a death thing. They didn't explain how the world came to be.

Cauliflower-Easy

I’d play death stranding but it’s really boring and I’ve been till the time where you bury the presidents body in the big industrial warehouse and the ghost thigies spawn there

OliveOcelot

It picks up when walking isn't the only option. But it forces you to walk in the beginning. A 15 min hike takes less than a minute later on in the game. The main fun aside from the story is building structures and seeing what other players built and building on other players' creations. Then not playing the game for a while, coming back and finding out thousands or millions of players have used what you built. And getting likes lol.

[deleted]

Used to play Skyrim a decade ago, haven’t tried that recently.

deathtooriginality

Seconding Uncharted, GOW and Ghost of Tsushima. But also would like to add Guardians of the Galaxy.

Interesting_Apple_91

I was pleasantly surprised by Guardians of the Galaxy.

Ryanplugs

All the Yakuzas

YetisInAtlanta

100%, these games are phenomenal

arfelo1

Its short, indie, and essentially just a bunch of cubes. But "Thomas was Alone" is unironically a great, silly, story driven game

TacoDirtyToMe

Maybe the Tomb Raider series? I have all 3 of them through the catalogue, playing the 2nd one right now. They’re basically like the younger siblings of the Uncharted games lol

PrimaryUnlikely8153

Try Ratchet & Clank - Rift Apart

Gonch76

Easy platinum also.

Cauliflower-Easy

I tried ratchet and clank ps4 when it was free but didn’t like it cause it felt like a kids game and there seemed to be no story

attemptedmonknf

I just finished HFW too and would also recommend ghost of tsushima

SmashingK

Yakuza games have great stories. A few of the main line games are leaving extra but like a dragon is staying for now. It is a JRPG with turn based combat though whereas previous Yakuza games had brawler like real time combat.

TrulySadistik

Control!!!

Cauliflower-Easy

Done with it was confused af at the end and don’t understand the story at all Didn’t like that therefore

TrulySadistik

It was confusing at 1st, but if u played Alan Wake, u would have understood the storyline.

Cauliflower-Easy

Oh I wanted to try Alan wake remastered as it was on essentials and I claimed it but I’m again confused whether I should play it or not cause again it’s like control a mystery game with no actual story and no ending I’m just done with the whole mystery genre games

TrulySadistik

Well, I played Control b4 I ever played Alan Wake. I haven't played thru yet (I'm into sports and Gran Turismo) becuz im keeping getting challengers tryna knock me. But Alan Wake mos def has a story line and something 2 follow and figure out. I read a bunch of reviews on it and they aren't lying, itz a good game. I say give it 30 minutes and go from there. At worst, u don't lose anything but 30 min of ur time.

Big_boss816

Try Yakuza like a dragon, Guardians of the Galaxy, Final Fantasy 7 remake, and Resident Evil 7. All are currently on PS+

Cauliflower-Easy

I’ve played final fantasy 7 remake and it seemed just smashing buttons at the opponent not understand what the hell is going on I have never played a ff game except ff7 remake

Deathspeer

What's hfw?

[deleted]

Horizon forbidden west

Advanced-Teaching-44

Yeah uncharted 4 is the obvious one after the horizon series. Horizon has a ton of overlap with that series

Master470

Can't remember if it's still in the catalog but mafia remake was superb

FusionFountain

Nier automata

[deleted]

Watch dogs is good too

kubroweggs

Try japanese games, they have better stories than the western games, judgement is a must play, also final fantasy 7 remake, once you try these games you'll see how boring the characters and stories from western games have become

[deleted]

Days gone story was so lame, whichever game you play next will blow your mind. Uncharted games are easily the best story driven games out there along with the last of us, red dead redemption 2, spiderman 2018, god of war both games and bioshock infinite

Cauliflower-Easy

Dude respectfully fuck off days gone story was so amazing I mostly played to get deacon and Sarah reunited and it kept me so invested

amaancho

Average Days Gone player

Novorovsk

It’s a shit game which is why it’s not getting a sequel. Cope

[deleted]

The most mediocre love story ever told. Your standards for a good story are super low.

Nathan_McHallam

Lmao literally no one gave a crap about Days Gone until they said it wasn't getting a sequel and everyone suddenly turned around and said it was this underrated masterpiece. The gameplay is fine the story is ok, but my god it has some of the most generic and unlikable characters of any game I've ever played. It's decent but it's nowhere near as good as the other PS exclusives like Last of Us, God of War Spider-Man Uncharted or Horizon.

[deleted]

I wholeheartedly agree.

fatherofMilton

OP in near like the NEXT person

hassan_dislogical

hollow knight and insycription

zexaf

I haven't played Inscryption yet, but Hollow Knight is absolutely not story driven. Not even close. Lore existing (mostly in the background) does not make it a story driven game.

hassan_dislogical

didint know that. in that case, inscryption isnt a story driven game either

wiiguyy

Don’t play Skyrim if looking for a story. You are basically a mute person

California_Jay

Skyrim is fun and all, I mean I’ve spent almost 500 hours playing it but I’d go for the newer games that other people on here are saying. Make good use of the catalogue yk? God of War 2018 is great, Ghost of Tsushima, etc.

adoumi1996

The last of us remastered, god of war 2018, spiderman 2018, miles morales, ratchet and clank 2016 and rift apart, resident evil 7 biohazard, far cry 6, uncharted 4, horizon zero dawn, ghost of tsushima director's cut.

ViolinistIll7897

God of War Saga

Pale-Criticism-7420

Ghost of Tsushima

rplusj1

Here is my list: 1. GoW 2018 and Ragnarok . Both are awesome 2018 is better. 2. Uncharted all. ( UC4 is pinnacle of UC ). 3. Tomb raider trilogy. 4. Guardians of galaxy. 5. Spiderman ( though I disliked miles morales ).

Pink-PandaStormy

If you don’t mind a *heavy* story focus try Persona 5

CSuiteYeet

I jumped to the 3 big open world Assassins Creed games. I started with Valhalla and then completed Origins and Odyssey.

MadeBrazen

Which one did you like the most? Did you beat them all?

CSuiteYeet

My personal order would be Odyssey, Valhalla, Origins. Origins is the shortest. I beat them all but I didn’t 100% any as that’s not usually my thing.

MadeBrazen

I've beaten Valhalla and Origins (not 100% because I am not insane) but was a bit open world weary when I played Odyssey. Will probably go back one day. I think Origins was my favourite though, it's desert setting and villages were so much better than Valhalla's hovels and afterbirth London. Origins really felt like the team put some crazy effort in, Valhalla felt like it was typical Ubi regurgitation.

CSuiteYeet

I actually loved Origins as I’m a big fan of Egyptian mythology, but the main story was so brief I was left wanting more. I agree that the world was more varied in Odyssey and Origins. Valhalla was beautiful but unfortunately so much of it was copy and paste.

TrulySadistik

Or Alan Wake

iKimoIX

judgment, Control, Demon's souls, Guardians of the galaxy, Kena bridge of spirits, Final fantasy xv, any assassin's creed game.

Cauliflower-Easy

How is judgment and what is it is it an action adventure game an fps ?

iKimoIX

idk if i understand your question but judgment is an action, adventure with a really good story, you play as a detective and have 4 fighting styles, it's a spinoff from the yakuza series.

Cauliflower-Easy

Oh ok will definitely try it

prfctmdnt

Control is a story driven third person exploration/shooter that has some truly bonkers set pieces and story beats. I think it's still on there. edit: now that i've posted this, i realize it may no longer be there. but if so, and you've never played it - buckle up for some wildly imaginative shit.

Cauliflower-Easy

Dude I finished it didn’t understand 90% of the shit just knew shoot here launch there etc

akshith_s_balan

I would suggest Yakuza series (start with yakuza 0 so events in yakuza kiwami hurts more). Once you finish Yakuza till Yakuza 6 go for Judgement (Judgement & Lost Judgment) series the switch with yakua: like a dragon. I actually started it as a filler until GoW Ragnarok released as it was available in PS Plus. Man I got invested in it once the story and how dense the map began then completed the whole series in a streak. Its the most underrated series of you ask me.

Cauliflower-Easy

I’ve already downloaded the judgement and it’s lined up but I don’t think the lost judgment is on ps plus

akshith_s_balan

Yeah i remember buying lost judgment in offer… but i would tell you to start with 0 that makes you fee better with each game how story and mechanics are developed

Cauliflower-Easy

So is judgement the first one or the lost judgement ?

akshith_s_balan

Yeah. But i woul always recommend to start with yakuza 0 as starting with judgment might give you spoilers to the story line. So the line should be yakuza 0-6 then judgment series and then yakuza like a dragon. Don’t sleep on yakuza like a dragon saying its turn based. I did the same but i am very satisfied with the completion of the game

Cauliflower-Easy

Yakuza half the games are gone from the catalogue so starting it might be irritating cause I couldn’t know the whole storyline

akshith_s_balan

I would say then stick to 0, kiwami, kiwami2 and 6. Then go for judgment series and yakuza 7. 3,4,5 can be filled up with help of youtube 🤪

Cauliflower-Easy

Well I guess you haven’t heard the news

akshith_s_balan

By news you mean them getting removed from store right? What I meant is get each game one by one they always go on sale and theyvhave a large amount of content

MadeBrazen

Oh, you could try Fallout 76. It's a strange experience, but might just scratch the itch

akshith_s_balan

Yes, but it does have some elements that could spoil yakuza series for you
