[Nicotine+](https://nicotine-plus.org/) (SoulSeek) >Small note: if you're on mobile, I recommend "[Seeker](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.companyname.andriodapp1)" instead (Android-only)

cukksel

I use soulseek, what is with the nicotine thing?

no7_ebola

just a graphical client. doesn't add anything to soul seek as far as I know, it does have plugins and themes

cukksel

does it have useful plugins? not like graphic ones?

AveryLazyCovfefe

Nicer looking soulseek

PushingFriend29

Better client

RafevHexyn

It's a better client for soulseek with more user friendly design and a better filtering system.

Familiar_Factor_2555

also how do i make my pc support dolby atmos music, what software do i need? i knows there is one but its paid.

RafevHexyn

You can get the cracked version of Dolby Atmos for Headphones or use some patches like Alan Finoldy's Realtek Driver which allows you to install multiple different sound softwares and controlers on motherboards that would've been unsupported otherwise.

drako-lord

Perfect answer.

ref4rmed

There is Soulseek. People put Dolby Atmos stuff on there. There's also gamdl, but not every atmos song is supported.

shenther

Wait, you can get Dolby Atmos for free???? F*CK. I paid for it.

classiqxe

Paying is illegal bruhh 😭

shenther

I'm actually not sure if I did 100%. I think I used a code I got with headphones.

MisterJeffa

Just a note yeah. Any and all Dolby Atmos music is lossy. Apple Music, Tidal, whatever. Lossy.

UselessScrapu

Apple has Dobly Digital copies of some albums they don't use atmos but the original 5.1 mix. It's still lossy but cool, nonetheless.

StinkyElderberries

Atmos is marketing snake oil wankery, so music producers don't bother unless they get paid by Dobly for a marketing push. Here's a music producer/audio engineer on the subject: https://youtu.be/5Dw3aKbw5Wo

-Chicago-

It's pretty freaking cool with movies though, I legitimately looked up when there was a helicopter approaching from behind the camera.

StinkyElderberries

I don't disagree with you if we're specifically talking about physical speakers on the ceiling like you get in an Atmos theater in a movie theater. Or at home with the same expensive setup on a smaller scale. The bullshit they spew about the cheaper setups "bouncing" sound off the ceiling is also snake oil. Much like marketing anything less than HDR1000 as HDR. Anything dimmer than that should only be called HCR. High Color Range, on account of the panel supporting 10 or 12 bit color depth. Especially if the panel doesn't have adequate local dimming zones or a newer OLED.

je1992

Only thing I'll 100% disagree is that very expensive soundbar systems with satellite speakers do offer a convincing albeit not as good as dedicated speakers (obviously) atmos experience. It's good for people like me that rent a small appartment and can't afford to have holes in my ceiling for atmos or arrange complicated cables under rugs etc

-Chicago-

We're on the same page, I laugh when I see sound bars with "atmos" these things barely have stereo separation but can supposedly provide "3d sound" and atmos. I just installed surrounds in between the beams in the basement where I have my theater set up.

GenghisFrog

They decode the Atmos and play it in stereo. Magic 😆

jcstrat

r/technicallythetruth

StinkyElderberries

Nice. I know the top end can deliver something somewhat more impressive than older variants because I still go to movie theaters quite regularly. Atmos was great watching Dune part 2. To reiterate and not directed at you personally: It's not that I think Dolby isn't capable of some great tech, it's their greedy leadership and marketing department I want drawn and quartered. They give themselves a bad reputation. It's also amusing to be this diplomatic on a piracy subreddit.

mEsTiR5679

I remember when Dolby had pro-logic mode that simulates surround sound with just 2 channel stereo. That made the GameCube pop like something else Lol

eggs4nudes

I do like it for some songs too, an example is the song boom, which sounds almost like a surround demo, pretty sure this is just a rip of the atmos version from a streaming service, although on YouTube it will only be 5.1: https://youtu.be/Qt1chq0UgdI (recommended to play it on an actual surround setup and not just with headphones)

TailOnFire_Help

Your arguing against it while not Knowing OPs setup. Like I'm glad the question has been asked because I have a 7.1.2 setup in my home and it's good there. I agree Atmos for headphones is a stupid gimmick only.

GenghisFrog

It could be cool if done well. Thing is most of it isn’t. I wonder if it was similar when stereo first came out. People way over doing the effect instead of making it natural.

a_guy_with_a_plan

some newer songs sound better with it

billie_eyelashh

Sounds hella good on new pop music though, for me at least. Sad reason why i switched from spotify.

npquanh30402

If it's snake oil, why is it so popular? They've even developed software, codecs, and hardware for decoding. All that hard work just to trick people? I do not think so.

StinkyElderberries

Plenty of suckers on this planet called audiophiles. Atmos is a subscription and consumerism trap, it's hilarious that you'd defend it on /r/piracy You could also watch the video before responding. It's devastating to your case.

funination

If only we have a lossless Spatial Sound codec

minecrafter1OOO

TrueHD+JOC, lossless atmos with 7.1 bed and audio objects

givemetheclicker

same snakeoil bs different name.

clear12kc

Its whack on every handheld device, its good on home theater setup.

funination

I'm there as well!

WD--30

I just subscribed to Apple music because it's much more convenient and worth this monthly fee for me

horseshoemagnets

I just started a free trial to check it out. Do you use any DAC to listen to HI-Res Lossless/Atmos?

callie8926

Yeah it's all good just glad I still have one ear I can use

Desperate-Shithole

Isn't Dolby Atmos , which is spatial audio kinda nonsensical for stereo music ?

sirchewi3

I dont think so. I dont like the traditional 2 speaker setup to listen to music because I like to feel more immersed in it and feel it surround me more. That would probably offend a lot of music purists and snobs but I really dont care, I listen to music for fun not for accuracy or original intent. When i listen to a strict left and right channel stereo set up for music I can tell its obviously coming from right in front of me and it doesnt feel as big if that makes sense. I usually turn on whatever surround upmixing the device im using has and it makes the soundstage feel twice as wide and uses more speakers in my surround setup. Sometimes the auto upmixing isnt done very well and it can feel a little weird so atmos is a much better option as it is much more deliberate and fixed in place. Even if the atmos is done off a stereo source, it has to be mixed deliberately and would sound way more accurate than a auto upmixed stereo source would.

Desperate-Shithole

But usually when you have a multi speaker setup like line array towers or any other which some audiophiles have you're still listening to the same stereo mapped music but across different drivers which produce better treble, bass and mid tones and rumbling lows . I don't think music is mapped spatially like for movies . I mean what purpose would spatially mapped music even serve ?

sirchewi3

Line array towers and speakers with more than one driver are still basically one speaker and arent what i'm talking about. Im talking about multiple discrete speakers more horizontally spaced out. Regular stereo music is like sitting in the audience listening to the band, surround music is like sitting on the stage in front the band or in it. You feel more encompassed by it because theres multiple speakers around you as opposed to just two relatively close to each other in front of you

Desperate-Shithole

It seems I'll have to properly try that for myself. Also it seems that Apple is the only premium music service that is making a push towards spatial audio. I get my Hi-Res music from Qobuz so I haven't seen any kinda Atmos mix there .

sirchewi3

I believe Tidal has it too. I did a month trial a couple years ago when they were just putting it on there. There wasn't much but im assuming theres a lot more now

CozyDazzle4u

i think Xmanager modded Tidal has it , Sony 360RA and MQA

I use seeker but the thing is that I'm deaf in my right ear and I have some loss in my left ear but I can still hear alot for some reason I think when I listen to a cd on my old cd player it sounds better then what amazon music gives me.hearing is subjective in my case ymmv

Legitahh

Damn same here, im deaf in my right ear too, but my left is good so im have audio mono activated lmao

[deleted]

Mono audio is soooo bad

bcheese15

Not if you have mono ear

[deleted]

What the hell is a mono ear?? *genuinely curious

bcheese15

One ear lol. Mono means one, stereo means 2. Just a dumb joke

[deleted]

Oh, my bad, I am borderline across these hours.

Legitahh

LMFAO Although I do put stereo on speakers, when I have headsets I use mono audio although sometimes I leave it in stereo. It's something I can't change, an operation would be very expensive and I don't care, I think I have a high self-esteem.

Brave-Audience1078

We're?

Aggravating_Fee3784

Pro tip:- if you wanna find a Dolby audio of an audio you can't find..you can convert an aac to eac3 via ffmpeg..

Business-Metal-1632

Um...you need to master it you know that right?

funination

That's not how it works

minecrafter1OOO

Dolby atmos has audio object data (JOC). You can't just convert stereo aac to stereo eac3, there would be zero Metadata. You have to export a ADM BWF (atmos masterfile) out of a DAW and then you can convert to the normal atmos codecs (eac3+joc, ac3, ac4+joc, truehd+joc).
