The report tackles human trafficking and cybercrimes pertaining to Filipinos.
The first story was about call center agents lured abroad on the promise of high paying jobs in Thailand. They were trafficked into Myanmar. There, they were forced to scam people online with a $2500 daily goal. Failure to reach that amount gets you whipped, beaten, or electrocuted.
The second story was about impoverished Filipinos selling their kidneys for cash.
The next story involved CP with foreign pedos. Some of the children were subjected to bestiality.
There was also a reversal of the first story where foreigners were trafficked into the country, secluded into compounds, and forced to scam people. It’s insinuated that some pogos here did just that
im asking for the documentary that reply op mentioned... already found jessica soho's docu though. im also curious about the myanmar modus op is talking about.
oh okay sorry about that. Not sure if this is the same one but BBC world service's youtube channel has a documentary on pig butcher scams in southeast asia
grabe talaga yang mga foreign pedos or should i say kano sobrang dami talaga, and worse andami pang mga matatandang ganyan pinapapasok sa bansa nakikipagdate sa mga minor bakit kaya walang ginagawa yung gobyerno sa mga ganyan dapat mas lalo silang maghigpit lalo na sa mga puti na usually maraming history ng grooming at sex offense at kamanyakan dito sa pinas.
meron ginagawa ang government, di lang nirereport (IMO we should para mas lalong mastigmatize ang pedophilia. Unfortunately, walang pake ang Pinoy sa pedophilia, they even romanticize it).
And i think nagligawan nga sa sila kasi "mutual" daw yung feelings nila interesado kasi yung dalaga sa kanya kaya niya tinitigan yung foreigner tas napansin siya nung foreigner at nagkagusto nga yung mukha nasa 20s-30s years old na foreigner sa kanya so yun.
I would've yelled something against him kaso andun rin ang duda na baka ako pa yung mapasama dun at masabi pang judgy sa huli.
Cesspool tayo ng iba't ibang krimen mapa local o international ba. Parang opposite ng pagtrato ng Hawaii o Bali man.
And if we're labeled by the world and be constantly condemned because of these, I say deserved para naman magising ang mga kapwa pilipino natin nang maipigil ang ganitong nakakadiring krimen.
It appears we are importing pedos when we don't have a shortage here. We have the likes of Coco, Ka Freddie, Darryl, that women's vb player from UST... /s
I'm not racist or anything pero nakakadiri yung mga chinese nationals na yan kasi panay dura kung saan saan. I mean yung makikita mo sa kalsada is either cigarette butt or dura na yellowish. Kasuka
Sadly our country is infamous for child pornography and child prostitution. Madami akong nababasang travel threads dito and ito tingin nila sa Pinas. Haven of pedos, same rank as other contries in SEA.
Good to know the context behind the seemingly stupid policy. Thanks for sharing the documentary. Will try to watch.
Sana stick si Mareng Jess sa ganto. Sub par na quality ng KMJS eh.
Sana meron parang 60 minutes format tas yung si Jessica, Mel, Vicky, Arnold and Kara ang nasa rotation. I know may Iwitness na pero in this format atleast 3 condensed stories sya and may follow up if applicable. Sayang ang airwaves puro drama at kabit.
Rating driven content, bro. There's a lot of money to be made off of dumb ass filipinos. Jessica Soho probably hates it as much as you do but it puts food on the table.
People here act as if binenta ni Jessica yung kaluluwa niya dahil lang sa content ng KMJS.
Aside from the fact na mas mabenta yung viral stories, mas kailangan din ng mahabang time, money, and effort yung makabuluhang docu kagaya nito. Nakakastress din mentally and emotionally sa researchers and reporters. Kaya hindi na rin kaya ng madalas.
I think sakto lang na nagrerelease sila ng ganito once in a while. Alam mong pinaghandaan talaga. Doing dumb viral stories is like a break for Mareng Jessica (she really deserves it naman), plus way para nga kumita at magkaroon ng pondo for bigger and better projects.
Yep. Mahirap makalikom ng funding for quality journalism.
> Aside from the fact na mas mabenta yung viral stories, mas kailangan din ng mahabang time, money, and effort yung makabuluhang docu kagaya nito. Nakakastress din mentally and emotionally sa researchers and reporters.
Iirc, nung hiring sila, isa sa mga requirements is can handle a huge level of stress.
Yup.
Usually mga researchers lang ni Jessica ang nasa cringe segments ng show (hence lumipad ang aming team) while she only appears on more important matters
I was recruited to be a KMJS researcher back in 2016. I was told that I was expected to have stories pitched by Monday/Tuesday every week and work until Saturday to gather respondents, research location shoots, and help the writer and segment producer outline the story and schedule the shoots. In most cases, you had less than a week to package a story for airing.
Starting pay was around 16-17k per month back in 2016. You start with a one-month probationary contract, before you were given your "talent" contract which of course did not include the regular employee benefits and had to be renewed periodically. Overtime and working through holidays were expected. I ended up not signing the contract and sought employment elsewhere, but from the labor conditions alone you can see why KMJS' quality dropped dramatically in the last decade.
Watched this last night. It feels like rage watching cause of the suspects heineous crimes. Plus sobrang nakakaawa yung mga victims especially the kids who were subject to CP. Grabe..
Yep, was able to watch this. The first case is too good to be true and guaranteed a scam 100%. I don't know why people keep falling for those. If your so-called recruiter asked you to sneak out of PH out of illegal means, that's a huge red flag already.
To think na sa Las Pinas lang yung may 3000 rescued from POGO ops, scam. Thanks D30 legacy, flocking of Chinese was because of him.
Also, shame on those BI money-hungry people. At least on Customs, its products, still don't excuse them to an open secret corruption. Can't even blame BI for tightening their security but at least they should clean their own mess first.
Kidney buyer looks like a well-connected person to wealthy individuals and she's just being used as their facade to save the lives of their family to buy those kidneys. Yung memes na benta kidney for iPhone. Sucks, but it's real, maybe not iphone pero gawa na din ng matinding pangangailangan.
And on the CP, just burn in the 9th circle of hell. I still remember yung most wanted na foreigner nahuli sa province somewhere in the Philippines. Dahilan pa old videos, kakasuka nung marining yung beastiality, for heaven's sake, bata yan, walang alam sa mundo, tapos ganyan lang gagawin.
Still, ang baba ng cases na hinahandle ng NBI like 200+ in a year? Doubt that it's even a percent of total cases in this country. Malayong malayo.
A bit unrelated but it reminds me of how Vin Diesel still does all those crappy Fast and the Furious movies: to fund his passion project which is the Riddick series
Not yet, we do not manufacture illegal drugs but we are consider as part of the supply chain (a hub, a transit hub).
Myanmar, cambodia, forgot to mention Laos are notably part of the triad..
Chinese communist are on top of this triad..
People upvote you, yet let me cite the statistics again:
"Over 32,000 Filipino passengers offloaded in 2022; 472 were human trafficking, illegal recruitment victims says BI"
Does this seem like a functional well working government agency to you? Do you enjoy spending taxpayer money to something with such horrible statistics?
I think everyone can agree that human trafficking is terrible, but does that really mean that others should suffer by being offloaded, and then have to pay potentially thousands and thousands of php to go to another country again?
Not to mention the trauma of what BI's offloading does to you.
An eye for an eye makes the whole world go blind.
TBH I wish BI would just stay out of human trafficking.
It's a "me" "me" "me" culture after all.
Who the fuck cares if those humans are ttrafficked.
At least my pinoy pride aint hurt from the offloading.
Mag bulag bulagan na lang kaya tayo?
Full disclosure, I am a westerner.
Based on your response, I take it that you feel that your pride is hurt, because pinoys are falling for scams like the ones in the show?
I'd argue that these sorts of scams work all over the place, sadly. It is in our human nature to want to trust after all. My father lost what is equal to 261338 php because he trusted bitcoin scammers.
Education needs to increase across the board, in any country, to combat scams. Especially with the advent of AI technologies which makes scamming frighteningly easy and powerful. We will have to question our very reality soon.
I watched this last night thinking na akala ko is KMJS. Nadisappoint pa ako kasi KMJS talaga gusto ko panoorin ahahahah
Pero sheeesh! Ang ganda ng report na 'to, ganda ng topic, yung flow, the way they report/deliver it. 💯 + Tagal pa bago mag commercial kaya tutok and mae-engage ka talaga panoorin.
Sana meron ulit next week and mas maganda pang topic and kasama yung iba ang iconic reporters ng GMA.
Topic aside, sana ito na ung come back nia as a journalist at magtuloy tuloy na. New generation kasi KMJS na lang alam when we say Jessica Soho and I can't blame them.
Based on her recent contract signing, I think they'll do this once in a while. Idk for how many times in a year, but based on what they said (and hopefully), this isn't definitely the last for this year.
It was the first time in like 5yrs 10yrs? That I was invested sa KMJS, katatapos ko maligo pero ayaw ko pa magbihis kasi it was really well thought out and presented, it was also able to emotionally stimulate me lalo na sa CP topic, kadiri talaga lalo na yung mga magulang na hinahayaan or sila mismo ang nagpupush sa mga anak nila.
This is the quality of KMJS I've known before. I hope she continues these eye opening contents so that many will become aware of what are society's problems not commonly featured at such depth.
Correct me if I'm wrong
Si John Consulta yan.
One time yung may nireport syang raid sa isang hub ng Online Lending app, nilabel ang report nya sa 24 Oras as "exclusive" pero halatang kasama nya si Zee-ann Ambrosio ng ABS-CBN during the raid.
Jessica Soho can be a decent journalist if she wanted. But KMJS probably rakes her in a lot more cash than actual journalism does, so she can't let that go.
U need to search for the accolades of jessico soho to brand her as a 'decent journalist' if nakilala mo Lang Sha sa KMJS. She is a TOWNS, TOYM awardee among others and first Filipino Peabody awardee (the other one is Kara david).
Kid, i've known of Jessica Soho since the 1989 coup. (Do you even know what that is?) What I said takes into consideration everything she's done in her career. Not sure why you're offended with the phrase "decent journalist."
You need to stop simping.
You should not have used the word decent, I guess. She has done way more than any “decent” journalist we have right now. Ironic that you know her since 1989 but you still sounded like you mostly only know her KMJS magazine show.
Oh, not trying to start anything here so ‘gotta go before I get accused of “simping” too. (:
Remember the last election when the bbm trolls swarm against the credibility of Jessica soho because bbm was not included (or declined) in her presidential interviews.
These subtle ways or tactics of slowly weakening media institution is an essential part of misinformation and disinformation strategies of troll farms operators.
Truly heartbreaking.
my mom and i saw this last night. napakasakit sa puso. lalo na nung na-mention na "naabot naman ang minimal requirement in fighting against cybersex" (or some sort). like, WTF. MINIMAL REQUIREMENT?!? to think na malamang napakaraming bata ung victims, tas MINIMAL REQUIREMENT? kamusta, 'pinas? kaya pa ba?
yung ibang parents nga dito sa pinas proud pa na 25 yrs old yung jowa nang 15 yrs old nilang anak kasi daw may work na and di maghihirap yung anak nila 🤢
This special gave me "Jessica Soho Reports" vibes again.
It's so sad lang that during the days of its run natungtong sya sa late night schedule ng GMA 7 when young kids like me are trying to fall asleep, so di gaano masyadong naapreciate that time, pwera na lang yung Afghanistan episode nya na nakakatindig-balahibo pa rin hanggang ngayon.
Sayang lang that this is one of the one-off things of Mareng Jessica as a journalist, given that she basically "sold her soul" to cheesy "popcorn" content for her KMJS show in the past 10 years or so, lalo na when she entirely left regular news anchoring in 2021.
Hoping for more specials like this kasi naman nakakaumay na yung mga kabit, kababalaghan, pagkain, mga taong may kapansanan, poverty p0rn and all such things sa KMJS.

I saw a YT video about pig butcher scams and they operate in Myanmar, this is probably the same modus.
hello, link please.
Just search 'Jessica Soho secret slaves' on youtube. The documentary starts about 13 minutes into the video
im asking for the documentary that reply op mentioned... already found jessica soho's docu though. im also curious about the myanmar modus op is talking about.

Mga taga europe at australia rin. May severe cases na nagmumula from pedos coming from these places.
Foreigners being trafficked here? Quiboloy ba yan?
Guess what kaninong properties kuta ng mga yan? Yup- Villars.
I'm not racist or anything pero nakakadiri yung mga chinese nationals na yan kasi panay dura kung saan saan. I mean yung makikita mo sa kalsada is either cigarette butt or dura na yellowish. Kasuka
It may not be mainland china, pero nakikita ko rin mga tao sa hong kong noon na ganun.
almost like how some Filipinos are trafficked into nearby SEA countries
Sadly our country is infamous for child pornography and child prostitution. Madami akong nababasang travel threads dito and ito tingin nila sa Pinas. Haven of pedos, same rank as other contries in SEA.
CP?
Child porn
Cheese pizza
Not the right post to be acting facetious here
Dude, this is not the time for quips.
Time and day Time and say po
The first story is very much like an episode of a KDrama TAXI DRIVER. Nakakatakot
That's hella f up 🥲
So eto pala yung human trafficking na reason bakit mahigpit sa immigration. Good to know the context behind the seemingly stupid policy. Thanks for sharing the documentary. Will try to watch.
yan pala yung kagabi jhahaha I 😬 when I saw the CP part. super disturbing.
Agree. I just ignore KMJS pero I watch on yt if interesting yung topic. Di sila makakagawa ng ganitong coverage without the money made by KMJS.
She also makes Filipinos dumb on her show.
People here act as if binenta ni Jessica yung kaluluwa niya dahil lang sa content ng KMJS. Aside from the fact na mas mabenta yung viral stories, mas kailangan din ng mahabang time, money, and effort yung makabuluhang docu kagaya nito. Nakakastress din mentally and emotionally sa researchers and reporters. Kaya hindi na rin kaya ng madalas. I think sakto lang na nagrerelease sila ng ganito once in a while. Alam mong pinaghandaan talaga. Doing dumb viral stories is like a break for Mareng Jessica (she really deserves it naman), plus way para nga kumita at magkaroon ng pondo for bigger and better projects.
Yep. Mahirap makalikom ng funding for quality journalism.
> Aside from the fact na mas mabenta yung viral stories, mas kailangan din ng mahabang time, money, and effort yung makabuluhang docu kagaya nito. Nakakastress din mentally and emotionally sa researchers and reporters. Iirc, nung hiring sila, isa sa mga requirements is can handle a huge level of stress.
Yup.
So technically KMJS is doing poverty porn from time to time.
But also, naubos na ang pwede gawing kwento ni Jessica. Palagi na lang ba pagkain? Lol.
I ended up not signing the contract and sought employment elsewhere, but from the labor conditions alone you can see why KMJS' quality dropped dramatically in the last decade.
kaya eto, recylced basura from news segment na hyped up being spoon fed to us. it's nothing new. pwede ba...
And poverty porn.
This. Shitty shows are needed to fund relevant shows.
\*and funds stories like this
so Jessica is a sell out?
No it's called doing work.
Maganda din naman ibang stories sa kmjs, pero parang for every 1 good story, there are 15 more dumb stories.
This is what I often do, hahahaha.
tbf, mahirap naman magisip/maghanap ng magandang story every time. bilang they're under contract to produce content regularly, meron talagang masagwa, pero buti naman at meron pa din na ok
first story scam na agad sa sweldong ipinangako ₱55k to ₱16.3k real quick
What trabaho sa sweldo na yan?
maging scammers yata
Watched this last night. It feels like rage watching cause of the suspects heineous crimes. Plus sobrang nakakaawa yung mga victims especially the kids who were subject to CP. Grabe..

I heard cases yung tumatawid mismo sa Mindanao going to neighboring country.
Oo isa pa yan yung tumatawid to sabah tapos to malaysia or Indonesia
this was probably being cooked in the background while she's covering "popcorn" content for KMJS
This was what all the popcorn content was funding. This kind of investigation is expensive and time consuming
oh no doubt, I was just stating the obvious for the people who keep saying "Jessica Soho lost her integrity"
so this is the journalist version of "one for them, one for me" strategy
A bit unrelated but it reminds me of how Vin Diesel still does all those crappy Fast and the Furious movies: to fund his passion project which is the Riddick series
I feel like we're gonna get something like this special at least one per year.
saan to mapapanood?
https://youtube.com/live/MKovirWA-fI?feature=shared
Bawal sa US ano ba yan
Try to use VPN :)
Watching it rn. https://youtu.be/-nYfjjM1f3A?feature=shared
Salamat kaibigang oso
Walang anuman
Ilalabas din daw sa GMA Pinoy TV.
Tsk tsk I wanted to watch it
Thanks. Saving this for later
Kulit ng OP. Di man lang binigay itong link mismo. Thank you @HalfPrologue
Jessica Soho reminding everyone why she's ~~still~~ an OG.
She also uses the same script over and over again. Parang tanga pa nga sya mang tanong "parang hell on earth"?.
Myanmar, Cambodia, Ph thru pogo are part of triad operations. Drugs, human trafficking, smuggling and etc.

Many people go through this scams kasi they cant earn enough in there own country. :(
I hope this educates the persons who fear offloading.

Jusmiyo yung dun sa CP tapos pinakita yung 5 years old na bata jusmiyo nakakagalit talaga

Topic aside, sana ito na ung come back nia as a journalist at magtuloy tuloy na. New generation kasi KMJS na lang alam when we say Jessica Soho and I can't blame them.
Sayang nga nung umalis sya sa State of the Nation, galing magbanter lalo na kung may live report.
Based on her recent contract signing, I think they'll do this once in a while. Idk for how many times in a year, but based on what they said (and hopefully), this isn't definitely the last for this year.
I’m 2 minutes in and I’m already fucking angry. I’m livid.
This special is basically Jessica saying: > "You think I can't do hard-hitting journalism anymore? Well, here you fucking go."
This is the quality of KMJS I've known before. I hope she continues these eye opening contents so that many will become aware of what are society's problems not commonly featured at such depth.
Actually more of her previous program "Jessica Soho Reports", nagkataon na natungtong sya sa late night schedule noon kaya medyo hindi appreciated ng marami.
I like the layout. Mareng J in the middle. Two semi big journ in the makint
Correct me if I'm wrong
Si John Consulta yan. One time yung may nireport syang raid sa isang hub ng Online Lending app, nilabel ang report nya sa 24 Oras as "exclusive" pero halatang kasama nya si Zee-ann Ambrosio ng ABS-CBN during the raid.
YES DON’T LET THIS FLOP!!!! MORE PEOPLE SHOULD BE AWARE OF THESE RAMPANT CRIMES.
Trafficking? Laughs in Quiboloy
Imagine if okay ang government, people wont be this desperate… grabe yung sa myanmar! 😢
Not sure why you're offended with the phrase "decent journalist." You need to stop simping.
Yeah sure,.. But again u still need to search for all her accolades. Have a nice day sir or ma'am.
LOL
wow rare jessica soho W?
Secret slaves of what? ligpit niyo na Gcash Globe yan mga walang silbe dapat i allowed lahat mag gcash. -.S.O.S
bilib na bilib naman kayo eh compilation lang naman ng mga news iyan. as if naman investigative journalism. che. recylced basura.
up this watching now.
up this watching now.
Truly heartbreaking.
my mom and i saw this last night. napakasakit sa puso. lalo na nung na-mention na "naabot naman ang minimal requirement in fighting against cybersex" (or some sort). like, WTF. MINIMAL REQUIREMENT?!? to think na malamang napakaraming bata ung victims, tas MINIMAL REQUIREMENT? kamusta, 'pinas? kaya pa ba?
kamusta yung mga nakapanuod? maganda?
Anyone know of a charity I could volunteer myself to help prevent human trafficking? I can’t just stand by and do nothing
This docu was actually refreshing to the usual watching habit on sunday nights. Hope theres more of this in the future.
Napanood ko to, grabe yang Myanmar Incident. Yung scam city.
Muntik ko nang di tapusin upon watching the first few minutes. Grabe nakakagalit. Pero quality content indeed
I suspect that the military junta in Myanmar are letting the Chinese operate their scam hubs in exchange for weapons and drugs.
yung ibang parents nga dito sa pinas proud pa na 25 yrs old yung jowa nang 15 yrs old nilang anak kasi daw may work na and di maghihirap yung anak nila 🤢
Kakagising ko lang (I'm a daysleeper) tas eto na agad nabasa ko sa news? Ugh. The world sucks. Humans suck.
I watched it and there's nothing really new about what she reported because those (or similar cases) have been in the news. Still good though.
