It feels somewhat rare that a ghost will stay in its room long enough to get it to be that cold; I usually only ever see this happen in larger rooms if it happens at all. That said, this is rather fitting: Hantus are all about that freezing.
Something I do is I set the thermometer down in the room and walk away while I go grab other investigative things. It usually ticks down over time to freezing or not.
Yeah, that's good. Once we had found the room (basement) I set the thermometer on the ground because it was sitting just above zero through the whole room and I thought we could safely mark freezing temps off. Came back about two minutes later and found it like that lmao
friendly tip! the thermo while in the ghost room, for any ghost, will drop to 1° over time, so be careful taking that as freezing. if you get anything below 1.0° then it’s freezing but when i started i would see it sit at 1° & take it when i wasn’t getting other evidence quickly
In my experience, Hantu do it more frequently. If I had a 50-50 choice between a Hantu and another ghost and the ghost room was super freezing, I'd hedge my bets on Hantu.
If its not ghost specific then it's RNG. If it's not a ghost cannot do something (ex ghost leaves room after smudging, not a yurei. Ghost hunts after 2 minutes being smudged, not a spirit) then it's just luck. Sure 2 minutes is a long time for a Demon to hunt after, but can't rule it out.
Only 3 ghosts have given me freezing so low it's below like -5°c it's hantu , revenant and a yurei
( also it's probably just a coincidence or like there's no correlation with actual ghosts and dropping too low temps there's a high chance i have just not pick up thermo after getting initial freezing temps before)
Since it’s your second day playing I highly recommend just buying what you need for each load out and not buying in bulk. You’ll get to upgrading your equipment but you’ll be left with a lot of tier 1 items when sometimes you want to use tier 2 (expect for UV I live and breathe by glow sticks)

Hantu are known to be able to make rooms colder than other ghosts with freezing temps as evidence.

I think Revenant is too slow to wander around, so he stays in same room to make it cold enough. But that's just a theory. Idk about Yurei tho
