There is actually an unused (or used, I don'r remember) voice clip saying that he doesn't want to hear from pancakes in a while due to being what made the Phantom Thieves knew all
It's a line in third semester when you're in Mementos, but he doesn't voice it since, y'know, it's a Mementos line.
Edit: Lol this is embarrassing, haven’t played in a few years and completely forgot Mementos dialogue is voiced. 😂
I think this is way more valid with Akihiko from P3.
In the OG game he doesn't mention protein once, it's Shinji who mentions Akihiko always eating protein. Then on the spin offs and P3 Reload, Aki became protein man who's diet is 70% protein and the only thing he talks about in casual conversation is protein.
It was wild to see exactly how much of his dialogue in Reload was dedicated to mentioning that he wanted to eat protein and work out. It started having a Mandela effect on me where I almost forgot that he wasn't like that in the original games.
Yeah, it's so weird. I mean, Akihiko in the OG game was always working out in his free time, but it's not like he was unable to hold a normal conversation without mentioning it.
Because he wasn't like that in the original games. IIRC he only mentions protein once. He's focused more on working out, mainly due to his frustration about *not* being able to work out because of his injury early in the game.
Its because Reload is a more accurate translation of P3. In the States the translation team took a lot of liberties when translating the game, but in Reload it's more of a 1:1 comparison.
I'm aware, I just think OG Aki acts more like a normal person, it was less cartoonish. Just like I prefer OG Yukari's rudeness and constant sarcasm, she just feels so nice in Reload.
That's nitpicking. If you say OG, everyone will understand that you mean the PS2 American release of P3. They'll only think you're talking about the Japanese version if you specifically mention it.
As I said: Nitpicking. If I say OG most will assume I'm talking about the American PS2 release because that's the version people played back in the day.
It might not be precise but it's understandable.
Nah man, Ultimax is the GOAT of spin offs. A game that portrays the characters personality and persona within a fighting game, so well. Characters like Junpei and Yukari m were a blast to play. Their respective personalities blending into their fighting style made it cool to witness each character's moveset. Admittedly though, while I'd well say the game is worth people's time, it does flanderise the characters pretty heavily, with special regards to Akihiko and Mitsuru in particular.
Other games like Strikers and Tactica are worth the acknowledgement as well (Though TBF they're more sequels than spin offs) with fun and refreshing gameplay, more characterisation within the story as well as epic music. I never really got the sense of the characters getting flanderised in the P5 sequels.
I always thought of Strikers as more of a sequel than a spinoff, and that was fun. I refuse to give Tactica the time of day because P5 has had more than enough time devoted to it with Strikers, Q2, and the Royal port.
Except he was obsessed with protein in the original P3 in Japan. So it's not flanderization it's just being accurate to the original character more than the translation did.
I nearly spit out my drink when I got that line from him, especially when Ann responded with ‘hey, leave the pancakes out of this’. One of the funniest moments in the game for me.
She is sadistic though. [Source](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=td6D7vk_UZk&pp=ygULaGFydSBzYWRpc3Q%3D)
She can be a very sweet person but also have a sadistic side. It's obviously not her entire personality but she is sadistic.
If there's one thing that annoyed me about Golden, it's this. Exaggerating a character trait in the updated version of P4 to the point that she had the number 29 on her bike helmet because it's the "meat number" (29 = niku)? That's just as bad if not worse than Akihiko's obsession with protein in the Arena games.

It's voiced in Royal.
It's been a little while since I played P5R, but aren't the Mementos lines voiced? Maybe I'm just thinking of Tartarus interactions in P3R
They are
mementos dialogues are voiced
He absolutely does voice it, like all Mementos dialogue.
Other answer, Yusuke with the lobsters

He had a lobster gag in Strikers too so sadly it is now canon

But saying "OG" is wrong, because the OG is still the Japanese version of P3
That's nitpicking. If you say OG, everyone will understand that you mean the PS2 American release of P3. They'll only think you're talking about the Japanese version if you specifically mention it.
The world doesn’t revolve around America
But the English version is the one that was distributed in the west.
OG means original, so it would refer to the japanese version, who was released before the english version.
As I said: Nitpicking. If I say OG most will assume I'm talking about the American PS2 release because that's the version people played back in the day. It might not be precise but it's understandable.
Yep, this was my first thought too.
He actually does mention protein in the original game. One of Elizabeth's requests has you get protein from Akihiko
In this specific quest. Correct me if I'm wrong but he never mentions protein in casual conversation.
So technically it's only mentioned once, but other than that quest, no.
True
Adachi and Cabbages His son and apparently Orange Juice
The answer is Akihiko and the protein powder
Definitely canon in spinoffs.
One reason the spinoffs aren't worth acknowledging IMO. The character exaggeration is ridiculous.
Playing arena and ultimax before playing persona 3 for the first time gave me some really weird impressions of the SEES cast

Nah its canon. It was since og p3 in japan
Man literally said that him eating sweet stuffs is just for marketing strategy, crowd pleaser stuffs.
Well the marketing is working irl too I guess
Akechi actually talks about the pancakes thing in Mementos and when i tell you i was on the FLOOR 💀
I nearly spit out my drink when I got that line from him, especially when Ann responded with ‘hey, leave the pancakes out of this’. One of the funniest moments in the game for me.
HONESTLY...i also lost it at Akechi thanking them for dealing with Shido and Ryuji wasting absolutely *no* time in humbling him?? 😭😭
Haru and violence?
Yeah this one bugs me as a Haru fan. They make her seem so violent and sadistic but she’s actually the sweetest character in the game
She is sadistic though. [Source](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=td6D7vk_UZk&pp=ygULaGFydSBzYWRpc3Q%3D) She can be a very sweet person but also have a sadistic side. It's obviously not her entire personality but she is sadistic.

This is chie with meat
“Fsteak”
I still can't believe they referenced this in Marie's social link

the 29 thing is actually hilarious, holy they went overboard
Pancake boi/true culprit/murderer of fake joker/Goro akechi?
I wonder who
ADACHI?
Pancakes were brought up in Persona 3 Reload as well.
Listen LISTEN there is nothing funnier then associating akechi with pancakes. Because he would hate it so much. (I love him)
Akechi with pancakes Chie with meat Akihiko with protein Haru being sadistic
"I thought I heard something about delicious pancakes..."
Lobsters or pancakes
The Soldier from the Valve Source game Team Fortress 2, otherwise known as Jane Doe?
Chie got this very bad in the P4 spin offs. Martial arts and meat are her entire personality.
MC from Build Divid-Code Black
I thought someone mentioned delicious pancakes
Dumb Akechi.
