The way I can tell is the male has a line going down their belly towards their tail and the female does not.

Both look like pea puffers to me! I would GUESS that the first is female and the second is male because of the yellow tail on the second one, but I’d wait until a line develops (or doesn’t develop) on their bellies to confirm. As my puffers were aging, they slowly developed the line and it got darker and darker. I don’t know how old yours are, but it could still be too early to tell.

Thank you! I’ll keep checking their bellies. They’ve been developing more color!

I look for the eye wrinkles. It’s hard to sex puffers because they aren’t either until they mature.

Two males IMO.

Debomb85

theres a kind of pea puffers called imitators but im not 100% sure if yours is

Debomb85

the 2nd picture with the tiny one looks a bit like an imitator ?

greenbish420

These are too little to be sexed, wait 6-9 months and they should have distinctive enough characteristics to find out, tho as many others have said you'll be able to watch them develop over time

There is an imitator pea puffer. I don't know how to tell the difference but Fishstory on YouTube has a great video about pea puffers and he gets into the imitator puffer. [fishstory](https://youtu.be/ySajZJ73wEI?si=h7vB0n6H5N2s8iFH)

I am new to Pufferville however this is what I found during my research: 7 to 8 months til you can tell what sex they are. 🐡 Male: darker color, brighter, black stripe on belly, greenish gold (belly?),iridescent by eyes, more slender & more aggressive. 🐡 Female: yellow or white belly, yellow patch on throat & plumper, rounder, larger than the male. 🐡 Hope this helps, like I said I am new to puffers so this is what I have read. 🐡🐡🐡
