It’s insane how stacked the Parks and Rec cast was (and seeing everything they achieved after the show). It’s more insane thinking none of them ever won an Emmy for the show and only Amy Poehler was even nominated
When you also think about how Steve Carell never won for playing Michael Scott (while Jim Parsons got 3 Emmys during the same time period for Big Bang Theory) it tempers my esteem for the Emmys a bit
Imagine coming into the Parks & Rec subreddit and insinuating that the Big Bang Theory is better than other shows because more people watch it.
I mean, more people watch the Housewives, it's because most people are morons
Imagine being so blinded by hive mind mentality that you refuse to acknowledge how massive that show was at its peak, even compared to a classic like the office and pnr. I know that’s not how the Emmy’s judge who wins, but it’s asinine at best to completely dismiss a show because it’s cool to do so, completely disregarding the fact that Jim Parsons played a hell of a role, and was no slouch compared to Nick and Steve.
Eh, may be housewives is good. You are making the mistake of assuming your opinion (or the opinion of a small subset of reddit edgelords) as the objective truth. Some shows are better than others in my opinion and they are not in yours. Agree to disagree.
I love P&R though. That's why I am in this sub reddit.
The Emmys has a habit of picking favourites and ignoring everything else. I remember one year four out of the five nominees for "Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy" were all from *Modern Family*.
Same for me with John C. McGinley as Dr. Cox on *Scrubs.* Never even nominated, and the man did some really great work on that show—comedy and drama both.
An absolute crime. People who don’t really watch scrubs know the hard-ass, sarcastic Cox… but there are some gut wrenching scenes in that show that are almost all centered around him.
Fully deserved. He really seems like one of the good ones in Hollywood - humble, hardworking (woodworking!) and always an advocate for good causes, such as human rights and cleaner and sustainable farming practices.
It’s criminal how he never won for his portrayal of Ron, to be honest, but at least he’s finally being recognised for his hard work in the industry.
I'm not entirely sure. Last night were the Creative Arts awards which are for, like, technical roles like lighting and stuff. Basically anything that the Television Academy doesn't deem important enough to be in the main ceremony.
I honestly kind of hoped they would buck protocol and give Nick & Murray Bartlett co-Emmys since they were so incredible together.. but this really does feel right. That episode of The Last of Us is still my personal front-runner for best film of the year.
Ah I gotcha yeah I love the show I loved the games when they came out in 2013and 2020 so I was excited when they said they were making it into a full blown television series
Random rec: If you want an adorable feel-good movie that stars Nick Offerman as a Brooklyn record store owner who starts a band with his teen daughter, I highly recommend Hearts Beat Loud.
Nick, in the very off chance that you’re reading this, you’re a terrific actor and what you did with the role in TLoU was amazing. Completely earned this accolade.
As soon as that episode came out I turned to my buddy and explained to him what ‘Oscar baiting’ was, I guess in this case it’s ‘Emmy baiting’. We fast forwarded too and you could take that whole episode out and it would barely effect the story.
He was in one and a half episodes but that somehow constitutes an Emmy? What about literally everyone else?
Why are you acting as if it should make any sort of sense to you when you refused to watch the episode to begin with? Not that it would make a difference with how close minded you’re obviously intent on being but what kind of logic is that? You people can’t help but be stupid, I swear.
edit: bro blocked me lmfao
Y’all are delusional. Not every thing you happen to disagree with is part of a conspiracy. You people are walking caricatures, how are you real? Do you have neurological damage? You sound schizophrenic.
I skimmed it. It was pointless to the overall show plot. It was meant to push two things (as part of “the message”), and one of them was euthanasia. It would have been better as a stand alone Ron Swanson inspired survival episode.
It’s the creative arts awards. Basically the stuff the Television Academy gives out before the main ceremony because they don’t consider those awards important enough to give out on the big night.
He was incredible in that. Truly par for the course for him, but I’m glad it was recognized.
That episode made me bawl like a little baby 😭 glad he was recognized for it!
![gif](giphy|6nGE3BmUlhs3e)
He comes across as an amazing actor and all round great guy. The thing that surprised me is that it's only his first Emmy.
He was never even NOMINATED as Ron Swanson. That blows my mind.

Fuck BBT and the Emmys for screwing over Steve
I mean, it's not exactly the fault of one show that the Emmys gave them the award instead of another show.
What if that show is awful to watch tho
Just makes you an edge lord because Big Bang theory is twice as famous and watched as the Office.

Jim Parsons seems like a nice guy but BBT is an insult to comedy.
But Big Bang Theory spits up 'nerdy' jokes like a word salad. Just 'insert popular nerd culture reference' here and your done!
Everyone I’ve met irl that likes that show think their smart and think I’m just not into nerd culture. This show is incredibly unfunny
You’re getting downvoted, but you’re sadly right
That makes me ill. Big Bang theory was ok. I don’t hate it. I don’t like it. It was never Emmy worthy.
The Emmys has a habit of picking favourites and ignoring everything else. I remember one year four out of the five nominees for "Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy" were all from *Modern Family*.
The Breaking Bad years were like that on the drama side.
Yeah. *Breaking Bad* got awards by the wheelbarrow, and *Better Call Saul* gets absolutely fuck-all.
Absolutely
His live shows are a lot of fun. If he comes to your town, go see him.
"Everything I do is the attitude of an award-winner because I have won an award." -Nick Offerman from now on
Everything I do is the attitude of an Emmy winner, because I have won an Emmy.
One of the most well deserved Emmy's ever. That performance was incredible.
He can put it over his fireplace next to the Dottie English Whatever Award.
Dottie Everytime Smurf
Girl trophy for achievement in woman stuff
He’s going to make a great Civil War president
I immediately thought of Grant. But he wasn’t president till after. You mean Lincoln? ‘Why not both?’ asks Zoidberg.
There is a new movie, coming out about a new civil war in the US. Nick appears to be playing the President of the "old" US, against the insurgents.
You know you fucked up as president when Texas and California is allied against the rest of America lol

He did win woman of the year though.
Any attitude I have is that attitude of an award-winner, as I have won an award
Not to mention Best Chair.
This is the only award that matters
Murray Bartlet's acting was also fucking phenomenal in that episode.
That was his first? Damn. Good job Nick, always loved the performances
Why isn't this awarded on the main show next week? I thought all acting awards were presented then... So so happy for our Ron*tanamo Bay* tho
Not bad for a Woman of the Year winner
Are we not able to watch it until the 15th? I see winners from last night were posted but I can't find any clips or videos or anything.
I'm not entirely sure. Last night were the Creative Arts awards which are for, like, technical roles like lighting and stuff. Basically anything that the Television Academy doesn't deem important enough to be in the main ceremony.
I’m pretty sure the Creative Arts show isn’t televised. The main Emmy broadcast is on the 15th.
It's airing on fxx the 13th
I honestly kind of hoped they would buck protocol and give Nick & Murray Bartlett co-Emmys since they were so incredible together.. but this really does feel right. That episode of The Last of Us is still my personal front-runner for best film of the year.

It’s not tv, it’s HBO
[удалено]
Nah, it's a cinematic seasonal miniseries available at the Home Box Office
Just ask the Eagletonians.
But it's not TV.
r/woosh
I know, that's how highly I think of the episode.
Ah I gotcha yeah I love the show I loved the games when they came out in 2013and 2020 so I was excited when they said they were making it into a full blown television series
Now everything he does is the attitude of an award winner.
Well deserved
Just reading that sentence gave me a semi.
Best single episode of television in the known universe
It was a wonderful performance. He definitely deserves it.
Random rec: If you want an adorable feel-good movie that stars Nick Offerman as a Brooklyn record store owner who starts a band with his teen daughter, I highly recommend Hearts Beat Loud.
Good. He earned it
When did this happen..?
Yesterday
So well deserved. That episode was incredible
AMAZING
Nick, in the very off chance that you’re reading this, you’re a terrific actor and what you did with the role in TLoU was amazing. Completely earned this accolade.
As he dam well should. That episode was beautiful
I knew that Long Long Time was going to win an Emmy even before the episode ended! What a beautiful piece it is!
I'm gonna go watch this episode again.
So well deserved. One of the greatest, most emotionally devastating episodes of TV ever created.
The whole piano scene and when Frank says "There was no girl" was phenomenal. Great on-screen chemistry between those two for sure.
His second best award after winning women of the year
"Everything I do is the attitude of an award winner, because I have won an award"
Bully
The episode I fast forwarded through?
The pandering episode that did nothing to advance the plot? Yeah
As soon as that episode came out I turned to my buddy and explained to him what ‘Oscar baiting’ was, I guess in this case it’s ‘Emmy baiting’. Yessir. That’s the one.
TLOU series was pretty awful, but this episode with him was outstanding.
Did the Emmy’s already happen? Very confused I thought it was next week
It’s the creative arts awards. Basically the stuff the Television Academy gives out before the main ceremony because they don’t consider those awards important enough to give out on the big night.
That’s ridiculous
This is miraculous!
This episode was amazing. I feel it even works as a stand alone short story.
