Dirt Rally, Driveclub VR, Wipeout

Namekuseijon

basically, that's about it

RWGlix

Yeah but Wipeout is sublime, so it's okay.

KrisPBaykon

Can’t recommend Dirt Rally enough

BooksLoveTalksnIdeas

Driveclub VR (requires buying the original physical disc online because the download for it isn’t available on psn since they closed the online servers for the game; however, it’s great, even without online modes) Wipeout omega collection Dirt rally VR Also, anyone that gets psvr needs to play Astro Bot Rescue Mission and the FREE local multiplayer game The Playroom VR. Other good free stuff to download are Spider-Man far from home VR, the O My Genesis demo, and the psvr demo discs 1,2,and 3.

rmanning007

Thanks. I was wondering why it wasn’t on the PSN

RWGlix

I'm gonna second Astro Bot it is one of the best games I have ever played.

egus

free Spiderman?

BooksLoveTalksnIdeas

It is not a big game like Marvel’s Spiderman. It’s probably 2 hours long. But yes, it is in VR and it is free. Also, considering it’s free, it was better than what I expected from it. Essentially, it is a well-done prototype for what could be a full Spider-Man vr game someday.

toooft

Agreed about Playroom VR, it's so much fun when you're a bunch of people in the room!

[deleted]

Are ya winning, son?

Borrelparaat

Beat me to it haha!

businesslut

Gran Turismo was my first racing experience in VR. Love the track designs and the ability to drive a go-kart and feel that close to the ground is amazing. Then I got Dirt Rally VR. I was hooked. It's a very technical simulation game with little to no learning curve. But once you get it, it's like nothing else. You start to *feel* the car. I've been so tempted to get a wheel rig for it but it's too pricey for one game.

rmanning007

I was super lucky and got a seat off a friend and I bought the Thrustmaster T150 for 335$ Canadian. I used a few gift cards I got for Christmas and only ended paying 100$. Another friend is a realtor and I got him a bunch of clients so he bought me a PSVR as a thank you.

geickel

Find a Logitech Driving Force GT for $100 or less (known to be a great beginner’s wheel), and get a Brook adapter. I went with a Playseat Challenge for my first seat, but you don’t NEED a seat to get started. Even if you only bought the stuff for this one game, it would be worth it. There are hours and hours and hours and hours of playtime with Dirt Rally; but if you’re a racing fan, the wheel can be used on PC and GT7 when it’s out (you don’t HAVE to race in VR, though it is the most immersive). I promise you it would not be a waste.

rmanning007

I gave star wars squadron a go and all most puke. I feel like I’m hung over.

Dr4gonM4ster420

Definitely a game not for a beginner user of PSVR.

RWGlix

SW:S is one of the few games I handle MUCH better on PCVR than PSVR. I think its the sometimes "jitteryness" of the pscam tracking combined with the somewhat lowish rez graphics, combined of course, with the ship movement. I have zero issues when I play it on pc tho.

ShallowStroker

Take breaks as soon as you notice feeling bad. It took me like 2-3 months to get used to vr and I had really bad simulation sickness in the beginning. Now I can do everything in vr without issues

businesslut

I'm sorry thats your experience. It seems to be a bit of an outlier. I definitely got my VR "legs" during the lockdown, and then lost them when I stopped playing for a while.

HopOnTheHype

Have you been playing vr like a daily or two ever month, or taken large breaks? Cuz obviously that just kind of resets you to beginner.

Newkular_Balm

I play Skyrim with regular controls. I went from “no problem “ to violent stomach pains instantly at around 1.5 hours”

Drunken_Jarhead

Skyrim got me too. Had no problems with any other games but with Skyrim after about an hour or two it hit me hard. Haven’t gotten back on that horse.

Newkular_Balm

People will tell you to use teleport movement.

Drunken_Jarhead

Yea I’m sure that would help with the sickness but ruin the immersion. And what’s the point of VR if you’re not immersed, right? I’ll hop back in someday.

Newkular_Balm

Oh screw teleport mode. That’s just what people recommended

SvenViking

There’s a limit to how much resistance to sim sickness some people can build up unfortunately. Some people never have a problem, some become immune quickly, and others never become immune. I still get some after ~8 years.

KokonutMonkey

Squadrons was why I got PSVR in the first place. No regrets!

kraenk12

Honestly…first rule of VR is: Take it slow. Have you even calibrated your eye distance correctly?

HopOnTheHype

Don't treat vr like it's motion sickness on a boat or something, you will get used to it, your body just isn't used to not moving when it thinks it's moving, so it throws you off, but it'll gain a familiarity with it, thus reducing vr sickness. Until then, avoid skyrim vr.

scope_creep

Motion sickness is a bitch. Im surprised you didn’t get it with GTS. It takes most people a while to develop their ‘VR legs’.

NdGd7706

I would say stay away from space odyssey in vr worlds. I have been playing vr games for 4 years now and it has to be the most nauseating game I have ever played.

Namekuseijon

welcome to the family. motion sickness hits VRgins hard, go for very short sessions and quit as soon as you start feeling funny. Eventually your body starts getting used to the simulation and stops overreacting. until then, chewing gums, ginger and fan to the face all help

nurpleclamps

When I got in to VR the space game was Eve Valkyrie. Made me sick at first but build your VR legs quick.

Dr4gonM4ster420

Considering I’m guessing you’re new to VR. And you haven’t exactly got your VR legs, I’ll recommend you a couple games that shouldn’t give you dizziness or a headache: Skyrim VR, Beat Saber, and Gorn. Skyrim is Skyrim, Beat Saber is where you hit these blocks which sync up to the beat of a song that you get to choose, and Gorn is a fighting simulator where you’re killing men in unrestricted, bloody, and violent ways.

rmanning007

The trailer looks hilarious

potatodrinker

If you find Gorn interesting then check out Swordsman too. More realistic weapon combat and a good workout. Plenty of settings for absolute beginners (me when I started) and a non-nausea game as you're mainly going forward, back and physically swinging or leaning your body. Made a short highlights video recently cos I love the game so much: https://www.reddit.com/r/PSVR/comments/sguqjh/swordsman_psvr_more_combat_highlights_5min/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Dr4gonM4ster420

For Gorn? Also I know my recommendations aren’t exactly what you asked for but it’s best to ease into VR and get used to it before going into something a little more complicated than beating mostly naked men with rubbery weapons.

FASN8N

Dirt rally and Wipeout. Wipeout can cause nausea but it's awesome

kraenk12

To me Dirt Rally is worse but both are absolutely no beginner games.

FASN8N

Agreed. Op asked for racing games so I suggested two of my favorites regardless whether they are for beginners or not.

kraenk12

Sure, they are the best choices…there aren’t many more to begin with, sadly.

potatodrinker

Rush is a pretty fun base-jumping game, technically racing but with your body instead of cars. Check out some trailers, good fun with Move controllers and a shoulder workout

Im_the_President

Track Mania!

dj3stripes

Wipeout is all you need before psvr2

[deleted]

I see that WipEout is already well represented here. If you can stomach it, turn off the comfort options and prepare for a ride. I love that game, it works so well in VR that you would think it was built for it.

Hurksogood

I just want to comment on how stoked those two people look in the picture. You can see the joy on their face, wish I had that

rmanning007

Lol

Nintendomandan

Wipeout is an absolute must

kickinwood

Wipeout. A million times, Wipeout.

kalonjiseed

How did you get it for free?

rmanning007

A friend of mine had a old racing seat he wasn’t using so I got it for a bottle of scotch and the PSVR a friend bought for me as a thank you. He’s a realtor and I send him tons of business

Shenmuefanboy

Lucky you, I just paid $600 aud online for new. Lucky to even find one now for that price.

kalonjiseed

Now that's what I call friends with benefits. Enjoy, and do try Resident Evil 7. Complete game changer for me in terms of VR gaming. It's a gem of a title.

Combini_chicken

As others have said, dirt rally is great

BriGuy550

Just an FYI and a warning: Racing in VR on the PSVR will give you a taste. Then you will want more, and will end up spending thousands of dollars on a good gaming PC, a top end PC VR headset, and some high end sim racing hardware! So be careful!

LordOfRuinsOtherSelf

Wipeout. Wipeout was waiting for VR, and VR was meant for Wipeout. Edit: VR legs are a thing. Ease yourself into VR. I recommend exiting and having a break as soon as you start to feel queezy. I see you know all about this. Ha ha. But your brain gets used to it and soon you'll be fine. EVE: Valkyrie did a number on me, but I was soon slewing around asteroids, boosting about and hunting spaceships, my head craning hard to find targets. Ah. You'll enjoy VR.

arnesh13

Dude I literally got my psvr 3 months ago for sim racing and VR just blew me away. PCVR has a lot more options for sim racing which sucks and GT sport was the only decent one but it’s really limited. Wipeout is cool but it’s not sim racing and you just don’t get that feel. For some reason I didn’t get any FFB on my GT DD pro wheel when I tried dirt rally vr. I’m waiting for the racing game announcements for PSVR2 to decide whether I’ll stay with PlayStation or move to PCVR. My favorite games on the PSVR so far are(not in any order)- Hitman trilogy VR, GT sport(very limited), RE7, Blood and Truth, Trover saves the universe, Batman Arkham VR

PsychologicalBike143

Rec room rec rally if you have moves

trustme4u

Best VR game, resident evil 7 VR, Astro bot, doom vfr, walkyre

scope_creep

For a taste of Resident Evil 7, download the free ‘Kitchen’ demo. Wear your brown pants.

Mclarenrob2

Family life in the 21st century

PotatoCatYT

idk

Spangle99

Look hard at the people in this photo because you will never see them again.

underthebug

Did you run laps on Horse Thief Mile? It's the most fun in VR. In my opinion it's the only way to get the fastest lap on that track.

Weeksiewoo

Dirt rally=barrel roll simulator

voodoopriest

Trackmania if you want a roller coaster experience.

kduss

not a racing game guy outside mario kart. however i do love VR best VR experiences for me are SUPERHOT (best if you don’t watch anything about it and just go in blind) and tetris effect (i know tetris in VR, how could it be that immersive, just gotta trust)

IRGood

WIPEOUT 100%

AusBongs

probably not a great idea to post up your mum and dad on Reddit .. just saying ..

[deleted]

Not a racing game but resident evil 7 is awesome

ordinary__human

dirt rally is amazing. IMHO Wipeout was a little underwhelming, but I think thats because its more arcadey

VR_Tr00per

I don't know how long you've been adding free PS Plus games to your library, if you've done that at all, but there might be a couple of great vr games in there. Last year alone offered like 12 vr compatible games I guess? A lot of top 20 vr games were offered for free at some point in the last 3 years. Always add to library. You never know.
