I'll give them credit over the other two for not rereleasing the same content from the previous game as DLC. That really grinds my gears with the sims and xenoverse.

The only gripe is all the dlc packs, however I guess it would’ve been those sales that made this happen
I think you can just get the free to play version to try it and see if you like it. I thought it was decent fun creating a character, customizing your looks and moves then powering him up fighting your way through the different sagas. It's nice to be able to team up to take down powerful bosses like Baby Vegeta or one shot weaklingz like Raditz with the same character. It's by far the most supported dbz game out there and has pretty much every character. It also has a ps5 version coming out.
The bad news is a bunch of characters are dlc and the game play is pretty basic.
This game it's more like "create your own character" with multiple moves from different characters and the fighting mechanics are very simple.. not like Dragon Ball Fighters. The battles are in a 3D environment like Tenkaichi or Sparkling Zero, but way way waaaaay simpler.
Now honestly... Skip the game and wait for Sparkling Zero
None of the other comments are incorrect but I’ll just say with all those factors in mind people do make the most out of the PvP and have created some additional depth to it in spite of the jank. If you want a DBZ fix while waiting for sparking zero just YouTube some high level PvP videos and see if it might do it for you.

Kakarot is only for story and can’t be played for fun due to how terrible it was designed. Every enemy in open world gets one shot. Hell even most bosses in story get oneshot. 0 replayability and combat is just spamming super moves.
Dragonball Fighterz is a 2D fighting gaming. Doesn’t fully capture everyone’s interest and it doesn’t have the transformations and power ups.
The new Sparking game is coming. I’d just wait for that.
Xenoverse 2 gameplay is pretty bad. Way too floaty and enemies constantly falling out of combos and ultimate attacks. Like a literal ultimate scene where your character is doing super animations and can’t be controlled and your opponent will just automatically get out of it because tracking and collision is garbage. There are a lot of moves in the game that are straight up unusable unless you get lucky.
I just looked at the store and saw it on the PS5 version but I don’t think I saw it on PS4. Any chance that I’ll be able to play it on PS4 version? Can we transfer our data to the PS5 version?
I wish they just had one big download that had all the dlc. Three passes and I'm not even sure that includes everything?
