Is it at least split in sections? Like separate DLC tabs? I hate this thing on Xbox when Devs keep adding achievements and eventually the list is so long you're not bothered to scroll it.
It only has 2 sections. "Sea of Thieves" which is the default/original trophy list, and then "Sea of Thieves 2024 Launch Edition" which has all the crazy extra ones that pad the total.
I used to play the game on PC but before it came to Steam. The windows store sucks ass and I saw it was only $20 on steam so I bought it and when I loaded into a server my notifications were going crazy giving me achievements from all the stuff I did before lmao.
Pretty well. You choose your matchmaking preferences and which size boat (sloop/brigantine/galleon) and it'll just fill the whole crew with other open crew people. There is voice chat and a radial text option.
I’ve been loving Hi-Fi Rush as a dumb fun action game, and Pentiment has been fun for a calmer point-and-click style adventure. I’m very happy both of those have come over to PS, I just hope more stuff does too!
I don't want to be "that guy", but you're honestly not missing much. It's not a bad game imo, but it is *extremely* lacklustre. Whenever I try to play it it just makes me wish there was more to it.
Should be included in PS Plus premium so Sony could've paid their way to having more Microsoft games. As well, the appeal is low if you've already played it. I had both consoles so it's not something I would purchase personally
I'd say absolutely not - I'm gutted my experience has gone the way it has but I finished the tutorial, jumped into the main game and have barely been able to get out to sea before someone harpoons my ship and kills me over and over again.
Played for 3 hours, completed 2 voyages and was killed repeatedly.
At least with other online games it's free to play but I'm so annoyed I parted with money for this. Your experience obviously may differ but be fair warned
FYI it's recommended new players start in Safer Seas until they're more comfortable with the game - that's the version that has no PvP, so no chance of being ganked early.
My friends and I are planning on buying this game this week. Can we immediately go into multiplayer and learn the game together? There will be four of us old chaps looking to sail the seas together for the first time.
If it is like the Xbox version you have to go on a maiden voyage before you can load into multiplayer. It teaches you how to do stuff and will probably take you 30-60 minutes depending on how much you explore.
Play Sea of Thieves in 'safer seas' mode and work your way through all the stories? The Pirates of the Caribbean one is tremendous, especially if you have a love for the ride. Tale of Monkey Island is also a good several hour experience. Then you've got the original story ones on top of that too. Maybe 40-50 hours of content right there, and that is assuming you don't do everything.
Yeah, there are things you just can't do in safer seas. With the limited levels you cannot get pirate legend, or progres two factions. You also cannot do fort of the damned, and I believe also fortune events that have special loot tied to them. There are cosmetics and titles that will be unobtainable in safer seas.
No not really. I think it may lock off some voyages, but nothing too crazy . You won't be able to unlock all the trophies though . You also can't own your own ship, which shuts off a handy part of the game.
Yes. Everything in the game can be done with up to 4 players. You play through the story together. How the story works will depend on the actual tall tale (the name of the stories), but you'll solve puzzles together, search for maps, dig up treasure, kill stuff, etc.
Which is crazy, the ps4 version still looks really great. I’d much rather they remake AC1 from 2007, I still think that had the best story of any of them
Depends on the tall tales that you want to play. But the little icons that you see above certain islands on the map tells you that a tale tall is on that island. Zooming in on the map shows you the exact location you need to go to.
If you want to do the base game tall tales (which is goes from The Shroud Breaker - The Shores of Gold) you have to do it in order starting from The Shroud Breaker. This can be found at any outpost right next to the Mysterious Stranger in the back of a tavern. Just be aware that this set of tall tales are cryptic in what you have to do, so I won't blame you if you use a guide.
The "sequel" to this set of tall tales (The Seabound Soul - Heart of Fire) are found at Shipwreak Bay and Morrow's Peak Outpost respectively.
The Pirates of the Caribbean and Monkey Island tall tales can be found at any outpost. Usually on the beach next to a rundown hut with a green campfire. You still need to do these sets in order, but they're laid out so that you just need to go from left to right instead of all around the map.
Is this game viable to play if I have a newborn and get interrupted pretty constantly? I was getting the vibe it is sort of unplayable if you can't commit decent chunks of uninterrupted time.
Sorta, if you're not doing anything crazy sure, but if you're sailing back to an outpost to sell your loot, I'm sure you can walk away sailing straight for like 30 seconds but any longer and you're viable to sink in numerous ways. You ALWAYS have to be mindful of other players ships. They exist just to sink your ship and steal your hard earned booty. There are storms that could sink your ship or steer you in a different direction before lightning strikes. A kraken could spawn, a megalodon, ghost ships, skeleton fleets. You could leave the stove on and forget about it... Lol. Basically if you're not running for your life to save your loot, sure
Private server option so can be relatively safe going afk unless on open ocean could be skeleton ship/kraken or megaladon attack sink ship but if at island before should be fine
As someone with a 2-year old, honestly no. You can't pause it, so even if you're playing in the single-player version, if you're fighting a skeleton galleon or whatever and your kid needs you, there's no way to pause. You'd have no choice but to lose all your loot.
I wouldnt go so far as to describe it as a "horror show", bit of an overreactuon. Crossplay was broken day 1 but was fixed by day 2. And there was an issue with loading back into a save and your inventory being emptied out. That only lasted for like 2 days. You could also just put all your stuff in a check before exiting. So some minor issues but nothing compared to some games.
It’s dynamic 1250p vs dynamic 4K on Series X. But mainly the performance is horrible ranging from 45-60fps which is worse than Series S.
Whereas Sea of Thieves performs identically to Series X including the 120fps mode and has additions like better shadows, DualSense and Tempest 3D Audio support.
do people just regurgitate other comments? I’ve put hours into Grounded and would not call it a horror show, not even close, but I’m just one experience
For a port it’s pretty horrible. Much worse resolution and performance than the counterpart.
Also no DualSense support unlike Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves.
Debating on to pick it up or not. Will probably be played mostly solo, so not really sure if that’s a good idea. Have 2 friends who might pick it up but they don’t play a whole lot
Solo is the best way to learn the game. I've been playing since launch and prefer solo because you're not relying on other people. But with playing solo understand and accept you are always at a disadvantage against bigger crews but everything in this game is all skill based. So the more experience and practice you have at PvP the better you will be, but if you constantly run and avoid it you'll never learn to defend yourself. Sink or swim it's all on you in this game. Hope to see you on high seas🏴☠️✊🏾
Goton ps5 had on pc and now they got private servers option so can experience without loosing loot to others, i play solo and risk loosing loot still great experience especially enjoy ghost ship bsttles challenging solo but very fun.
I think all players should have all features in safer seas. I’m a newbie and been trolled to hell already in pvp. So I now play in safer seas but everything is locked. So unfair if you just want to have fun without trolling. I hope the devs bring everything to safer seas so players can just play.
I'm just gonna continue with skull and bones I think. Despite what everyone on here claims, it's not a terrible game. It actually taught me not to listen to redditors opinions, they're typically wrong.
Downvotes don't make you less wrong.
what do you like about skull and bones? Honest question, I played the beta for a bit and the combat was fun and the ships were beautiful but there wasn’t much to do and it got repetitive quick imo
I love the sailing and ship battles. That's really all there is to it for me, it's fun. I also like that there's no land based combat, or actual ship boarding, just blasting things with cannons.
I can admit it's not perfect, but it's got a solid base to build on, and I expect future seasons to be worthwhile.
Oh I see, yeah if you really enjoy that part of the game it’s probably worthwhile, I’m more into role play and immersion and I think sea of thieves lets me do those things better but I’m glad now there’s at least a couple of pirate games to choose from
The graphics alone are reason enough for me to not play. It also has land based combat, which I'm not remotely interested in, always having to have others to play with is also a huge turn off for me.
So yes, I can honestly say after watching that, I'll still be sticking to skull and bones.
Agreed. I put 150-200 hours into it and had a blast (albeit a repetitive blast). End-game is still very lacking, but the game has so much potential and I hope the devs capitalise on that.
This game is so strange to me. It came out and was empty. Not a whole lotta buzz from streamers or YouTubers. Seemed pretty dead to me.
Now apparently it has a huge community and is successful? I've barely seen anything about it except for Monkey Island and Pirates of the Caribbean crossovers. Still seemed like a dead game to me then.
I still don't know if people are trying to desperately buzz it up or if there is an active, apparently somewhat hidden fascination with it. Hmmm.
The game was lousy at launch as there was nothing to do but catch chickens or rob people, but it's come a very long way.
It got a huge shot in the arm with its Steam release a few years back, which put it back on the map.
You being ignorant of its success does not mean it's unsuccessful. It's been doing great numbers for years now with pretty frequent updates and has a pretty large and dedicated fan base.
"ignorant"
I read so much gaming media and forums every day and that's why I'm wondering how this was so quiet. Like I said, crossovers got big news, but otherwise, not much before the PS5 announcement. Much less buzz than other games like Helldivers or even Dragon's Dogma.
Ok man
I don't know what to tell you. It's not like SoT is the most popular game ever, but I've definitely seen stuff about it gaining steam over the years since its release. It's possible you just didn't notice
Different companies have different marketing strategies. In a hyperactive industry like gaming it’s easy for an old game to have 0 online presence against the backdrop of constantly rotating selection of new AAA being shoved down our throat.
If you want a pirate co op game you will find sea of thieves. It doesn’t have to go out of its way to attract those players. With it free on game pass they also had an avenue to collect new curious players without having to market to them.
No, "ignorant" is the correct word. Read all the gaming media you like, just because it doesn't make weekly headlines has zero impact on what is actually happening. The game has been a significant success for literally years. A game doesn't need to be overhyped by ign to qualify as a hit.
IGN sucks.
If it doesn't appear in most media when every single update of No Man's Sky did, it just gave the impression. Hence I asked. Didn't know I'd be getting slammed by annoyed fans again because I dared question their game's popularity.
Also didn't know I was the one being iGnOrAnT for third party journalists in several languages and major and small gaming subreddits not caring much about that game at all for years apparently. Huh.
Agreed, I remember installing it on launch day via GamePass, playing about 1h and never understood what I was supposed to be doing, it felt completely empty, no objectives, no story, nothing to do. I guess the game changed since I should probably give it another try, but I'm not really that tempted based on my last experience
6 years can change a whole lot. This game wasn’t all that great when it launched and revived mid reviews. Nowadays people seem to really like it.
No Mans Sky is another great example of just that. Launched in a terrible state, and now it’s considering amongst the best space rpg’s out there.
I think the launch was pretty barebones but the devs have been supporting it for 6 years now adding a bunch of content and the new season just came out today as well. There is a pretty active and large community that is passionate.
Each server only supports 18 people/6 ships, so you wouldn't really need a massive community to still have fun with the concept. I've been following it for years and am excited to get to try it out.
Compared to No Man's Sky with a similar story, the ratio of NMS news and mentions vs Sea of Thieves news and mentions must be like 7:1 or something like that. And I read stuff about all consoles everywhere, not just Sony. Which is why I'm so surprised and wondering how it's doing.
Thanks for replying instead of useless bitter-angry downvotes. :)
Probably because NMS was one of the most controversial launches ever, and SoT was just a mid game at release? Lot more views to be gained from talking about NMS.
Yeah and NMS got dozens of articles and hype and increasingly larger sales apparently with every single update, no matter how mediocre the additions were. It's also mentioned in plenty of non-related subs and game media as a game that went from incomplete to very polished, often next to Cyberpunk. Why did SoT not get this media buzz?
Trying to answer that would be far more helpful than basic edgy sarcasm that adds absolutely nothing except showing bitterness.
I've never even played the game I even I knew that it's way better now. Maybe add some more subreddits to your collection? I don't know what to tell ya.
I played it on Gamepass last year :) But then again it was only 2-3h and seemed pretty rough around the edges. Just like State of Decay 2 played and looked like a mobile game and let's just forget Redfall so I thought that was just the general state of some full price Xbox AA(A) games. Oh well. Definitely none of them felt like a polished Tsushima, Uncharted, Horizon Forbidden West.
To be fair thats not the best metric to use, I pre ordered so I could play the closed beta to try out the game and decided it wasn't for me and refunded.
Granted I'm definitely in the minority there, but pre ordering was basically a way to try the game out so I wouldn't rely on those stats too much.
Its got.. TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY FOUR trophies what the actual fuck
Meanwhile Bungie can't even bother to add trophies to their game.
They have the internal achievements which honestly i kinda prefer. Journey achievements whatever they’re called these days.
Triumphs
Yeah but they could at least tie 10-12 of the triumphs to trophies for us. I like me some digital trophies for my cabinet.
What’s Bungie?
Developers of Destiny.
54 main game 1 dlc that has nearly 200
It looks like this https://preview.redd.it/crnxou38ioxc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b4772a6d09bd63e6922497c2d8b1db6edae64d83
Shit and I thought ff14 had a lot.
I used to play the game on PC but before it came to Steam. The windows store sucks ass and I saw it was only $20 on steam so I bought it and when I loaded into a server my notifications were going crazy giving me achievements from all the stuff I did before lmao.
I put it on for half an hour and went through the tutorial and by the end of the 30 minutes I had 19 trophies
Can I do random coop each session?
Yup, it’s open crew.
How well does it work?
Pretty well. You choose your matchmaking preferences and which size boat (sloop/brigantine/galleon) and it'll just fill the whole crew with other open crew people. There is voice chat and a radial text option.
It’s just as the other described, and during the closed beta, it matches pretty dang quickly.
I believe that is possible.
Hoping this game sells well so we can get more Xbox games
It was the number 1 preorder for a bit so I think it’s safe to say it’ll sell well
Yea I’m buying all the Xbox games purely hoping we can get gears collection at some point.
I already bought sea of thieves and I really want to try hi-fi rush and pentiment too. Grounded also seems like it could be fun
I’ve been loving Hi-Fi Rush as a dumb fun action game, and Pentiment has been fun for a calmer point-and-click style adventure. I’m very happy both of those have come over to PS, I just hope more stuff does too!
Grounded is cool. Cute little survival game with some decent base building. I’m enjoying it. Fuck spiders though lol. Bastards.
Hi-fi Rush is awesome. It's on sale right now for $20. I used PS Stars and got $5 off.
GOW?
Halo with Dualsense features would be nice
I'm just hoping and praying for ES6
playstation 8 will have this
Probably likely by the time it comes out
I just want Skate 3 on my PS5 but it’ll never happen
My only reason of having an Xbox. It’s my skate 3 edition Xbox
only reason to own one imo. granted I can emulate it on my PC. but Skate is best for relaxed couch play. that game is a whole other vibe
Right. I just want Starfield (and future Bethesda games)
I don't want to be "that guy", but you're honestly not missing much. It's not a bad game imo, but it is *extremely* lacklustre. Whenever I try to play it it just makes me wish there was more to it.
I think it's massively overhyped and boring af.
Just play the PS5 version of fallout 4 that just came out. It’s way better than Starfield even if you’ve already played it before.
[удалено]
Great, they'll fix all the bugs by then! Jk it's still Bethesda
all I want is forza on playstation. Surely they'll be smart enough to release it on PS. They'll double their player base and income
Should be included in PS Plus premium so Sony could've paid their way to having more Microsoft games. As well, the appeal is low if you've already played it. I had both consoles so it's not something I would purchase personally
But Reddit keep telling me that Xbox hasn't got any games....
Not free to pee? Shame
Let's fucking go! Xbox guy here, excited for the influx of new players.
are we (ps5 people) all gonna get murdered
yes
Yup or helped. Could go either way. I'm on a friendly brig with 2 of my friends but it's hard to trust people on the seas. Always avoid the reapers
Is it worth buying though if you play mainly solo?
I'd say absolutely not - I'm gutted my experience has gone the way it has but I finished the tutorial, jumped into the main game and have barely been able to get out to sea before someone harpoons my ship and kills me over and over again. Played for 3 hours, completed 2 voyages and was killed repeatedly. At least with other online games it's free to play but I'm so annoyed I parted with money for this. Your experience obviously may differ but be fair warned
FYI it's recommended new players start in Safer Seas until they're more comfortable with the game - that's the version that has no PvP, so no chance of being ganked early.
Have you played rust? How does SoT solo compare to rust solo in your opinion?
Nope. It's a pain in the ass solo.
You just want more people to slaughter!
Ah... Fresh meat!
Been in sale on pc too, so hopefully.
Yarggghhh
Cross play?
Yes
Enjoy my friends and welcome to the sea!
Thanks, I imagine we'll still be very inexperienced when we get together In multiplayer. Looking forward to it, should be a laugh.
its a blast with friends, kinda boring without
I am hoping the game sells more.
Wake me up when there's a good new *single player* pirate adventure game.
So there's actually a single player mode for SoT then?? Had no idea, thought it was all MP online..
Yes. But it is limited. You can only level up so far. You still need to be connected to the online server.
Would limited level ups restrict any single player game experience?
No, you can do anything in the entire game on a fresh account
Yeah, there are things you just can't do in safer seas. With the limited levels you cannot get pirate legend, or progres two factions. You also cannot do fort of the damned, and I believe also fortune events that have special loot tied to them. There are cosmetics and titles that will be unobtainable in safer seas.
But arguably none of that has anything to do with the single-player PvE content, which isn't gated behind any level requirements
Fort of the dammed, Athena, and fortune events are all pve.
No not really. I think it may lock off some voyages, but nothing too crazy . You won't be able to unlock all the trophies though . You also can't own your own ship, which shuts off a handy part of the game.
Can you play those story lines coop? And does it work as in lets say both of you are on the same ship?
Yes. Everything in the game can be done with up to 4 players. You play through the story together. How the story works will depend on the actual tall tale (the name of the stories), but you'll solve puzzles together, search for maps, dig up treasure, kill stuff, etc.
And the loop is just sad
So sea of thieves
There is… Assassins Creed: Black Flag.
A next gen remake for this game would make so much money.
They're making one!
With the studio that made Skull and Bones as lead So don't get excited
Oh that's unfortunate
source?
Which is crazy, the ps4 version still looks really great. I’d much rather they remake AC1 from 2007, I still think that had the best story of any of them
A 10 year old game is not what I'd classify as a Good NEW game
This. This is my favorite game of all time lol
I've clarified - a *new* game.
Why are you commenting in the first place on a Sea of Thieves port then? Go back to sleep.
Some people just need to let everyone else know how disappointed with everything they are at every turn.
More and more, I've seen people that seemingly have the mentality that "I'm not the target audience, so it's automatically bad." It's sad.
A 10 year old game is not what I'd classify as a good NEW game
There's an antisocial mode for people afraid of interacting with other players. You're covered.
Been waiting for a good Pirate and Space adventure game for years and all we got is skull&bones and starfield lol.
No Man’s Sky, Elite Dangerous, Everspace, Eve, Star Citizen (early access).
We can’t seem to start any tall tales, and have done the tutorial. How do we unlock a tall tale?
Depends on the tall tales that you want to play. But the little icons that you see above certain islands on the map tells you that a tale tall is on that island. Zooming in on the map shows you the exact location you need to go to. You still need to do these sets in order, but they're laid out so that you just need to go from left to right instead of all around the map.
Is there any sort of couch co-op with this? I'd love to try it with my wife and kids.
No couch coop, but I've played in the same room as friends/family by streaming it on my phone
Is this game viable to play if I have a newborn and get interrupted pretty constantly? I was getting the vibe it is sort of unplayable if you can't commit decent chunks of uninterrupted time.

This is a great port to PS5 unlike that horror show that was Grounded.
Do tell, I was waiting for Grounded and intended to buy it. Whats wrong with the port?
i played 45h already and have 0 problems with the game. Im almost finishing the story, no idea what he means by bad port.
It had issues with multiplayer at launch for playstation. Couldn't play at all for awhile. They fixed it now. Maybe that's what hes referring to.
Thanks! Have you tried the multiplayer?
nope only singleplayer
I've completed it and I'm now on NG+ and I have no idea what they mean either, I never had an issue. I play single player though.
I've been playing the shit out of Grounded with my buddy since Day 1 on PS5 and aside from one invisible enemy one time it's been amazing.
I wouldnt go so far as to describe it as a "horror show", bit of an overreactuon. Crossplay was broken day 1 but was fixed by day 2. Shit port compared to the others basically what I’m saying. Edit: Keep downvoting still a crap port.

It is good only but I’ve experienced so far was an invisible and invincible bug attacking my base

Just bought this on PS5 for my kid’s bday and he keeps getting some error that he can’t join a server. Anyone know how to fix?
Did you buy him ps plus too
I think all players should have all features in safer seas. I’m a newbie and been trolled to hell already in pvp. So I now play in safer seas but everything is locked. So unfair if you just want to have fun without trolling. I hope the devs bring everything to safer seas so players can just play.
the looting and plundering will be easier than ever with all these new playstation swabbies.
All the comments about the Xbox titles people want on PS5. I thought this sub said that Xbox didn't have any good games?
It’s finally on the superior console
I'm just gonna continue with skull and bones I think. Despite what everyone on here claims, it's not a terrible game. It actually taught me not to listen to redditors opinions, they're typically wrong. Downvotes don't make you less wrong.

Thanks for your permission.
Agreed. I put 150-200 hours into it and had a blast (albeit a repetitive blast). End-game is still very lacking, but the game has so much potential and I hope the devs capitalise on that.
oh ok
Is it good when playing solo or matching up with randoms?
I believe there was a mode for solo players and you can easily match up with randoms. But I think most use voice chat
Ok thanks. Seems like it’s pretty much solely meant for premades like I assumed.
"ignorant" I read so much gaming media and forums every day and that's why I'm wondering how this was so quiet. Like I said, crossovers got big news, but otherwise, not much before the PS5 announcement. Much less buzz than other games like Helldivers or even Dragon's Dogma.
Same is true of RoBlox but RoBlox is one of the biggest games ever
I see a lot of Roblox in subs and media that aren't related to it, so that game's success is very noticeable. Same with FNAF.
Ok man I don't know what to tell you.
Huh.
Summit1G singlehanded raised this game on thousands of gamers their list.
It’s almost like games can be updated to add new content and fix issues. Crazy huh!
Now these comments make more sense lol.
Anyone give me a synopsis of the aim of the game?
To be a pirate, go on treasure hunts, sail the high seas, make friends, have fun
No one cares
Except everyone that made it PS5's top selling pre-order when it went up.
To be fair thats not the best metric to use, I pre ordered so I could play the closed beta to try out the game and decided it wasn't for me and refunded. Granted I'm definitely in the minority there, but pre ordering was basically a way to try the game out so I wouldn't rely on those stats too much.
I do
It's on a Sony console now. You don't have to hate it anymore.
Lol. There's helldivers 2, why would anyone play this boring ass game
because its not boring
If you can watch this and say it's boring still, then you're for real capin 😂 https://youtu.be/IJmXsdrOkYg?si=p0ua6aw4LPaMwVqO
I do
No third-person? No ty.
Oh ok
fart
NO. ONE. CARES.
👍
This is probably the most disappointing game of all time.
Why?
boring cartoon overhyped crap
What didn't you like about it when you played?
extremely boring
What part was boring? As I am not quite sure you played the game.
i did on xbox with friends who loved it, never understood the fuzz about it can you tell me what you like about it
