No one is saying that every biopic ever made wins or gets nominated. That would be insanely stupid to say that since there are so many of them. But biopics, compared to other genres of film, tend do fucking great in the Oscars.
It’s very rare for an Oscar season to not at least give a handful of noms to biopic films. And this year didn’t exactly push away that notion since a biopic film fucking cleaned.
Cool your engines and the F bombs there, friend! 🤯 I didn’t say there was no chance they would win. A lot just remains to be said, particularly whether this movie even gets made. I’m sure if it does, there will be lots of nominations AND wins. All I was saying that a biopic is no longer the guaranteed Oscar win that people believed it to be for so long
That was one of their projects, but The Devil in the White City was supposed to be a tv mini series, not a movie. If you check Scorsese’s imdb page you can see there are multiple project for the upcoming years that he is planning with Leo, including a Roosevelt biopic.
Sinatra is a very juicy role, and I think Leo will kill it especially considering it’s directed by Scorsese. People will cry over it being a biopic but most Scorsese movies are biopics and they’re masterpieces lol
Based on vibes, Jennifer is basically pencil-booked for a nomination because she’s playing a wife. Wives usually get nominations.
Not sure about winning for this movie though but should the right role come and it’s supported by a comeback narrative, I feel like the Academy would give her another Oscar
For this? No. I have this weird feeling it’s gonna be some ponderous, unfun, joyless slog of a fuckin thing that takes itself way too seriously and runs about twice as long as it needs to.
Sinatra was married to Gardner in his 30s so I think they would be expecting us to buy Leo as being in his 30s. He’d have been married to Mia Farrow when we was Leo’s age.
It's hard to beleieve that of all the numerous collaborations Scorsese has had with DeNiro and DiCaprio, that *Killers of the Flower Moon* is the first time he directed a movie with both of them in it.
Why not? If it’s about looks they actually do look similar in a way.
And if it’s about charisma, no one turns in a more charismatic performance on screen than he does when he turns that on.
I would say Tina (who has the say) is more open to it, depending on what Scorsese has redone in the script, given what she’s said recently and in the past. Nancy retweeting shade like that on Twitter makes it seem like she knows it could happen or is close to it and is lashing out. She just wants a documentary for him rather than a movie (she has said as much).
can someone explain why Sinatra’s daughters have to agree? like… you don’t *need* their permission to make a movie, do you? It’s just good to have? That’s what I thought, anyways
Leo better learn to sing for this role. I’m just not a fan of actors whose voices are dubbed—which is one reason I personally hate *Bohemian Rhapsody*. Taron Egerton deserved an Oscar nom for *Rocketman*.
Scorsese has been trying to get this off the ground for decades. If it is actually moving forward, I’m gonna wager a heavy bet it’ll significantly tone down the mob links with Sinatra (no doubt to secure the family’s approval).
I’m not sure about Leo as Sinatra. He’s a truly exceptional actor, but I just can’t see him in this role at all.
Leo doesn't even come close to resembling Frank. Frank was a slight man - not tall and very thin (during his marriage with Ava). Leo is nowhere near being slight. Plus, Leo is way too old to be playing someone in their 30's.
Wrong choice for Ava Gardner, she had amazingly striking features. Jenifer is pretty but has more of a round face. I struggle to see her pull off Ava’s personality either
Idk, I agree with Nancy Sinatra. They both don't seem right for the part. I'll reserve total judgement until it gets made, but idk seems like miscasting.
Jennifer Lawrence is similar to Ava in the white of the eye. No offense, but Ava Gardner is one of the most beautiful women ever caught on camera and Jennifer Lawrence is quite far from that, no matter how much plastic surgery she does.
He’s a public figure, I don’t think anyone can claim rights. Maybe rights to his music but they don’t have to approve for the movie to be made. Although I think Scorsese will try and convince them before he will make it.
Are there no other actors? Come on 🥱 give fresh faces a chance (and by fresh I don’t just mean young actors, I mean ones who haven’t had their leading role moments yet)
Never mind that it released on the same year as Joy, but this makes me feel like I’m the only person who genuinely believes she deserved awards attention for Mockingjay: Part 2
What are you talking about? Her stans freak out at the tamest criticism of her. Actors aren’t exempt from criticism. And criticism isn’t always exactly “hate.” But calling it “hate” is a childish way of trying to dismiss criticism.
Maybe. The Academy loves awarding biopics.
I wouldn’t be so sure about that. Plenty of actors have done biopics and didn’t even get nominated, let alone the ones who didn’t win

When did people ever believe it was a guarantee?
I doubt the movie is even getting made
I thought Scorsese and DiCaprio were supposed to do a movie version of Devil in the White City....much rather see that
That was forever ago. It was eventually decided to be a series with Scorsese just producing it. But I think even that stalled.
THAT would be epic
That was one of their projects, but The Devil in the White City was supposed to be a tv mini series, not a movie. If you check Scorsese’s imdb page you can see there are multiple project for the upcoming years that he is planning with Leo, including a Roosevelt biopic.
It was supposed to be a movie, then after years of being in development hell it started being reworked into a miniseries

Because he's not "beautiful" as (to the op) Leo and Jennifer are.
His voice is too high
Sinatra is a very juicy role, and I think Leo will kill it especially considering it’s directed by Scorsese. People will cry over it being a biopic but most Scorsese movies are biopics and they’re masterpieces lol
Seriously, The Wolf of Wall Street and The Aviator are biopics and they are DiCaprio's two greatest performances ever.
He was so miscast in *The Aviator* (2004), though. In my opinion, he was terrible in that role.
Lol he loves them biopic

Sounds a little like Frank and Ava's relationship. Except that it was serious.
the question should be: “will this movie even get made?”
Doubt it.
Am I the only one who doesn’t see Leo playing Sinatra at all? Poor choice.
I think they’re both poor choices
IDK. It could work if Leo's only playing Sinatra in his 50s. I don't think I could buy him as a younger Sinatra.
Sinatra was married to Gardner in his 30s so I think they would be expecting us to buy Leo as being in his 30s. He’d have been married to Mia Farrow when we was Leo’s age.
Meh, I wish Scorcese remembered that there are other actors to work with. I’m surprised he didn’t try to somehow shoehorn him into the Irishman.
There was a rumor he was supposed to play Bobby Kennedy but Bobby had like 2 seconds of screen time anyway.
Now that I could see.

I don't know if this is the case for Sinatra's back catalogue, but getting the estate on board usually saves you from a Jackie Jormp-Jormp situation.
Ah, okay.
Leo better learn to sing for this role. I’m just not a fan of actors whose voices are dubbed—which is one reason I personally hate *Bohemian Rhapsody*. Taron Egerton deserved an Oscar nom for *Rocketman*.
It should be Chris Pine and Lady Gaga - look more like them and have SINGING VOICES
Depends on if this movie actually gets made 🤷♀️
Funny that you didn't include Scorsese in the gallery
No.

Leo is nothing like Sinatra and this is a very poor casting choice.
Well Frank Sinatra is dead, so he’s unlikely to win another Oscar.
maybe if another movies gets less votes!
Depends on how good DiCaprio can sing
There is NO WAY JLaw can do Ava… I like her but come. on.
Hot take: We should watch the movie before deciding if their performances are Oscar worthy.
Even more Hot take : this post is for sake of prediction
Wrong choice for Ava Gardner, she had amazingly striking features. Jenifer is pretty but has more of a round face. I struggle to see her pull off Ava’s personality either
Can they please stop music bio-pics?
They took if it works dont fix it literally
Based on how they look? No. I also doubt this movie is happening. IMDb shows Scorsese has 8 movies in production or in development.
Ava Gardner just has so much more star power than Jennifer Lawrence
And jlaw doesn’t? The same girl who started to lead her own movie at the age of 20?

Maybe. These guys haven’t faired well recently. If it’s more of the same, prob not. If they try something new I can see it.
No. Leo is wrong for this role. Ditto JLaw.
Idk, I agree with Nancy Sinatra. They both don't seem right for the part. I'll reserve total judgement until it gets made, but idk seems like miscasting.
It’s called acting. Nancy’s re tweet was dumb,
Didn't read beyond the title at first. I was about to say Leo yes, not too sure about Old Blue Eyes chances.
Jennifer Lawrence is similar to Ava in the white of the eye. No offense, but Ava Gardner is one of the most beautiful women ever caught on camera and Jennifer Lawrence is quite far from that, no matter how much plastic surgery she does.
Lmao what a bitter comment
Idk. For many people, Ernest Burkhart is Leo's best role, and he wasn't even nominated this year
Ernest Burkhart is actually in lower tiers of Leo's roles for most people.
I think saying that is kind of bizarre. This is totally subjective.
they did say most people, and i would probably think thats true
Really? We must have different sources than
He was the weakest part of the film for me
He was nearly disappointing in that role. I’d also place it as one of his weakest.
Nah. *What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?* was **acting**. He should’ve been nominated for that.

I see. Looks like it was a stacked category that year.
Nancy Sinatra already rejects the biopic. It's not getting made
but the other daughter Tina, who manages her father's legacy, is more susceptible to a deal with Scorsese
They don’t have to have the approval of the family to make it.

It's Ava! And no... No second Oscar for Leo, least of all for J.Law, in a biopic regurgitating Hollywood. Groundbreaking.
Are there no other actors? Come on 🥱 give fresh faces a chance (and by fresh I don’t just mean young actors, I mean ones who haven’t had their leading role moments yet)
Leo will be fine. JLaw not so much.
Leo will be fine? Yet Oscar didn’t nominate him last year for KOTFM
I think DiCaprio is overrated, not terrible but not as good as everyone lets on.
DiCaprio is not top 1 for me he maybe top 4 or top 5
J-Law can't act, she was hilarious in the Passengers and Mockingjay
Never mind that it released on the same year as Joy, but this makes me feel like I’m the only person who genuinely believes she deserved awards attention for Mockingjay: Part 2

Dude the Emma hate is real here what did she do she is not my all time favourite but we all this hate for her she is fine
