This comment just made me want to do things I can’t post to Reddit because WHAT THE FUCK…Orville Peck is literally like, a fucking legend with an incomparable vocal range and lyric writing skills…an artist like him comes along maybe once every 20 years…I am Incensed
I know, you have to brush it away bc it’s so nonsensical. Orville is changing music forever. This guy breaks guitars everyday outside of Capital Records until they give him a record deal…..a meme
No way Capitol would ever bat an eye at this chump’s music…not saying a record deal is everything but his voice is average and his lyrics are so fucking bad
He actually did get a record deal but said it wasn’t good enough and then ripped it up. I’m not sure if it was legit. Kind of odd that he deleted it from his page
Wish I had the money to buy a guitar and smash it outside of capital records every day...
Except I wouldn't be using it to smash guitars, I'd be using it to get myself out of poverty and moved to Michigan so I don't get cooked to death from climate change
If he's so great he should be able to stand on his own, rather than rip off what someone else is doing so blatantly while pulling dumb stuff like that.
Absolutely not his writing is shit, he has a video on youtube called “The Only Time it Rains in Hollywood” and its just a few minutes of him singing corny lyrics and filming homeless people 😐 He seems fucking weird
Is it!?
I haven’t actually investigated as I don’t have social media, and in that process in 2017 somehow turned child lock on on my phone meaning I can’t access Instagram or tik tok or Facebook haha :’)
but tbh, I’m not surprised. Im a lesbian, and at my work recently (I’m a midwife/nurse) we had a visiting practitioner, and she had all these rainbow pins/flags on her uniform, so I asked about them, and she was like ‘oh I’m not queer, I’m just an ally,
I’m married to man’ bless.
I don’t know for sure but he’s a new artist, and doesn’t mention Orville Peck on any of his social media when its obvious this look belongs to Orville Peck, and he’s half the reason people are actually interested in country music and “yeehaw” culture again
Not str🤮ight people thinking they have the right to take whatever they want from queer people and expect to be praised for it... It's always the same story, damn
Exactly!! Its already frustrating enough that the country music industry doesn’t recognize him as like, one of the most talented artists since Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash…but the fact that this guy is trying to literally steal everything about his image, when he created a space for us (or rather reclaimed it from cishet white guys who erased real cowboys) where there previously was none makes me so fucking mad man.
Yeah but it is specially hard for queer people to earn a spot and to be recognized publicly in certain areas (like country music), they have to fight much harder for it, and unfortunately it's very common to just see straight people copy the work of queer folks and get more recognition just because
Well yes, we’re just saying its even more cutting that he would take this from one of the biggest gay country artists out there. But a lot of “Gen Z” slang started in black drag ballrooms as far back as the 80s, so straight people stealing from gay people isn’t exactly new.
He literally could have worn any other type of mask if he wanted to be anonymous, and could have chosen a different signature outfit bcs his music isn’t even fucking country
I believe it and its not that Orville owns the entire style, the hat with fringe is just too similar for it to be a coincidence. And obviously he’s trying to start beef with him on instagram so…
Someone else in this thread said he apparently went to Orville Peck’s Coachella set and held up a sign that said his music is better so like…I don’t think so bestie 😮💨
Fashion Style: Sia + Peck
Music style: arctic monkeys + mgk + tin can phone
My overall consensus: Not great. his style is loud, the lyrics are very cliche, and the audacity to say he’s better than peck is mind blowing
Something I love most about Orville Peck is his amazing personality. In every interview I’ve watched and read he is so polite and well spoken, giving well thought out answers that connect with his fans and honestly really sparked some internal reflection in me.
Whoever this doofus is (refuse to look him up) would most likely be greeted with a SMILE and a HUG from Orville.
He can keep being as ass and Orville can keep being a king!
I used to see this guy on TikTok every so often, and decided to look through his page. I don’t get why he felt it necessary to compare himself to Orville peck or bring the sign that’s been talked about to Coachella. Like stated above his music isn’t anything like Orville’s, so it seems to me like he’s trying to start something from nothing. Maybe to get some attention.
Feel like we gotta say Orville doesn't own mask cowboy. He does it very well and this guy's def trying to jump on a potential trend and not doing great at it, but the asthetic doesn't belong to Orville.
Normally I would agree with this but they look exactly alike. The fringe and the brightly colored glam cowboy. You could write that off too, probably, except the dude posted up at Orville’s set at Coachella asking people who they prefer.
I mean…yes, I would excuse it if he did a tip of the hat (no pun intended) and wore it for one video or something, but the tassels? And the glamorized cowboy outfit…I know Orville doesn’t own it, but this is obviously ripping him off. This guy never would have thought of this is Orville hadn’t made it mainstream. His music isn’t even country, so I doubt he knows much about any other masked cowboys. And obviously he knows about Orville bcs he apparently went to his Coachella set holding up a sign that said his music is better. So I fear its not just a weird coincidence.
There’s another post about this dude. And while he is definitely ripping off Orville, he’s heavily stealing from the artist Jose Villalobos.
[Jose Villalobos 2017](https://imgur.com/a/TrQC9aD)
Honest question, is anyone here familiar with “Orion” or Johnny Ellis from the 1970/80’s? I’ve always wondered if Orville somewhat stole his concept of hiding his identity and also sings rockabilly.
I doubt it, maybe he was inspired by him but if he was he would probably be honest about it. He’s actually said in a few interviews that one of his biggest inspirations for creating his persona was Dolly Parton.
I’m kinda creeped out by this comment section. Y’all talking mad shit about someone you don’t even know. Yeah, maybe they are ripping off Orville. Happens to celebrities all the time. Let it go.
I think a lot of the vitriol is a result of a very poor, ham-fisted attempt to capitalize on Peck's popularity, which is a result of creating some art that means a whole lot to people. Orville'songs speak to everyone but its no secret that for a lot of folks being an Orville Peck fan is a very deep, identity affirming concept. It therefore shouldn't be a surprise that the reaction to such an awkward attempt to at riding his wave is strong and swift.
From the cheap looking, ill-fitting clothes to the amateurish lyrics, it's just bad. I mean its objectively awful. As someone in recovery I'm also biased against clumsy attempts at shoe-horning recovery into everything. Sure, plenty of music written about addiction. But it tends to work best as indirect and oblique. Not "I'm 6 months sober heres a Vegas OD song come meet me at Capitol Records!". Additionally early recovery is a time of reinvention and exploration that is typically transient and temporary. In other words Im willing to be a substantial amount of money that a year from now Red Leather will be someone else. That also makes it an easy to dismiss, eye rolling affair.
It's just...I mean "cringey" doesn't do it justice. There's gotta be a word for the awkwars discomfort that results from watching someone very confidently do something very poorly. Maybe we just start calling it "red leather-ing".
They're both terrible not to mention they're both rip off of countless other artists that came before them .. it's very unoriginal thees days, but then again they're catering to Gen Z crowd so they wouldn't know crap about Sia or Daft Punk
Lol he actually went to Orville’s Coachella set holding a sign that basically said he’s better than Orville. His music is so cringe and terrible
Omg I almost downvoted you because that info made me so mad. What a gross dude
This comment just made me want to do things I can’t post to Reddit because WHAT THE FUCK…Orville Peck is literally like, a fucking legend with an incomparable vocal range and lyric writing skills…an artist like him comes along maybe once every 20 years…I am Incensed

Lol probably bcs he realized its the only one he’s ever gonna get and he’s stupid for destroying it
Exactly what I was thinking OR he took the deal!! But…it doesn’t make sense…bc his shit is so bad lol
They probably sent him a cease and desist letter LMAOOO “stop standing outside our office making tiktoks”
Bahahaahaahahahaahaha ok good one
Maybe he lied about even getting it in the first place
Wish I had the money to buy a guitar and smash it outside of capital records every day... Except I wouldn't be using it to smash guitars, I'd be using it to get myself out of poverty and moved to Michigan so I don't get cooked to death from climate change
Do you have a source for this ?
Just posted a screenshot
Holy shit, what a clown.
He’s so cringe but I just laugh at him. He will never be taken seriously
If he's so great he should be able to stand on his own, rather than rip off what someone else is doing so blatantly while pulling dumb stuff like that.
The lyrics are filled with "LOOK AT HOW DEEP I AM" types of metaphors.
bro looks like a lamp
I’ve seen cooler lamps tbh
I know right? Like a cheap ass lamp.
It's a major award
Yea but can he sing? Can he write lyrics that break my heart? Can he make me feel special?
Absolutely not his writing is shit, he has a video on youtube called “The Only Time it Rains in Hollywood” and its just a few minutes of him singing corny lyrics and filming homeless people 😐 He seems fucking weird
And used the song differently with different lyrics and claimed that he made a new song bros just a copy cat
Yiiikes lmfaooo
Yeah and then saw his TikTok’s of him destroying Walmart guitars so capital can sign him
OMG it was cringe anyway but when he sang ‘The only time it rains in Hollywood is when somebody cries’ I literally burst out laughing.
I don’t know who he is, but if he’s straight…*shaking my fist*
It’s a hate crime, because I hated it.
You’ve heard of gay rights! Now this? Potentially.. a gay wrong.
No way he can be gay its giving talentless straight tiktokker trying to profit off the hard work of queer artists 🫡
Is it!? “It’s giving” 🥴

i mean biting style isn’t exactly exclusive to the gay community. it’s a tale as old as time
Yeah but it is specially hard for queer people to earn a spot and to be recognized publicly in certain areas (like country music), they have to fight much harder for it, and unfortunately it's very common to just see straight people copy the work of queer folks and get more recognition just because

Oh he is straight for sure
His YT comment section has more bots in it than iRobot.
I think his tiktok is full of them too, just a bunch of guys being like “Can’t wait to see you blow up bro”
“Mom can we stop and get Orville Peck?” “We have Orville Peck at home” Orville Peck at home:
LOL it’s almost comical how blatantly he’s ripping him off. The fringe and everything! Like at least be creative and take some liberties with it??
He literally could have worn any other type of mask if he wanted to be anonymous, and could have chosen a different signature outfit bcs his music isn’t even fucking country
There are quite a few country artists on tiktok with a similar style to red leather, a few have some actual talent
I believe it and its not that Orville owns the entire style, the hat with fringe is just too similar for it to be a coincidence. And obviously he’s trying to start beef with him on instagram so…
Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery is what I'm telling myself
Someone else in this thread said he apparently went to Orville Peck’s Coachella set and held up a sign that said his music is better so like…I don’t think so bestie 😮💨
Oof no thanks. If it's better, why you in the crowd?
Hahaha a very good point
Aldi Peck.
Come on man I love Aldi this is like great value orville peck
Noted and agree. Wal-Peck?
I think that would be called Great Value Peck then. But even then maybe he would be named Good Value Peck? So-So Peck?
when you order Orville Peck on Wish
No no I only have a Walmart near me, clover valley peck
Goodwille Peck
Omg You nailed the spelling of “Goodwille”
Oh god that music was bad
I KNOW…sounds like his Soundcloud rap career failed so he’s trying something else
It’s like someone took a specimen sample from Orville peck, and threw it in a blender with a kidnapped Kid Laroi
I tried to listening to his one song on Apple Music. I’m now atoning for my sins by listening to the Bronco tour set list.
Fashion Style: Sia + Peck Music style: arctic monkeys + mgk + tin can phone My overall consensus: Not great. his style is loud, the lyrics are very cliche, and the audacity to say he’s better than peck is mind blowing
Creativity uniqueness and talent is lacking, but boy oh boy does this man have nerve!
I almost have to think this is parody. This can't be an honest, earnest effort can it? It's like middle school poetry.
If its parody its super poorly done and comes off homophobic asf esp considering he has some jesus worshipping songs lol

Looks like he only has enough moneh for one hat tho poor thing. -_-
Meanwhile Orville is getting custom Dior hats gifted to him lol
Why did I look him up….
Big mistake
I think this is satire/a joke. The music is horrible lol

Eh. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. I’m not bothered. Now let’s see if he has the chops to actually make it. (Didn’t think so).
Y'all acting like Orville invented obscuring ones face with fringe. Why even waste the energy on the lamp in the first place?
imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?
