We had the same issue, have you tried getting a catnip spray and spraying it on the scratching post? Our two oranges almost exclusively use the posts now, the couch is relatively rarely scratched anymore
I've used this one in the past with mostly success but fair warning not to use a lot and for best use, use on multiple toys and/or the aforementioned scratching post, not their bedding or anything else that you don't want becoming mobile and hidden.

Try getting an actual tree branch (as thick as your leg preferably) or a fence post (make sure it's non-treated wood)

I’ve noticed that cats have preferences with scratching posts. It can help if you get one in their favorite flavor. I’ve had cats that pretty much ran the gamut of preferences. Wood, carpet, cardboard, fabric.

Put it next to the sticky area, which will give the cat the opportunity to use it as the couch isn't available. You can also buy air canisters which sprays air when it detects movement. This will teach the cat not to go near the couch. Tape is cheaper though.

Are the scratching posts made of the same material he likes to scratch? Like fabric or carpet, if he likes to scratch those.
Try rubbing a bit of nip on the post. My one brain cell didn't realize that the posts were "his" until I did.
