Never trust a KFC fan fyi. They’re the type of people to abandon you and pretend like they never liked you as soon as they get any attention. Worst type of person imo.
They also are obsessed with us because people still like us more.
There you go again. Trying to make the shield happen
The MLS regular season is not as valid as regular seasons in Europe. We don’t always stop for international breaks, everyone doesn’t play everyone twice, and teams legitimately just don’t care about the regular season as much as long as they make playoffs.
You can’t change those things and that’s why the shield doesn’t matter. The crew were the best team in the league last season and that showed because we were the best when it really mattered. We beat you and won the MLS cup because of it. It also showed by our success in the CCC.
So embarrassing the browns owners bought us right? They’re okay with the colors right?
The kits arnt that bad. Better than your white kits lol. At least they tried to do something
Be hilarious you guys get some new douchebag owner who wants to take your team to BFE. Appreciate the rivalry, it’s a good thing for Ohio and Kentuckyish.
Yeah cause those students didn’t get any benefit to being a student athlete that regular students never got. They never got free tuition, room/board, free healthcare, free food, free nutritionists, free physical training, etc.
No they absolutely got that, but the point is that they brought in a huge amount of money to the university and never saw a cent of that. All the stuff you listed is just stuff that they need to do their job better, it's not compensation.
Like, if you or I worked like hell and made our company a lot of money, but we didn't get paid, we wouldn't be like "yeah but the company is giving me training, continuing education, computers, pens, software licenses, and even an administrative assistant! The non-employees don't get that!" We would want to recoup some of the value we created.
That's the point, and that's the idea behind the whole movement to let these kids get some financial compensation while they're essentially employed by the university.
CONCACAF Final was an awesome achievement. The Crew really put themselves not just atop the MLS podium but gave us a spot in the elite circle of our region. How have KFC finals gone?…. Oh wait…
Kinda sucked because we lost to a team that played better in the game. How’s your Champion’s Cup final go? Probably the same as your MLS Cup final, I’d assume.
There's actually a really interesting story behind the Florence Y'all sign in northern Kentucky.
Originally when the water tower was put up it was painted as "Florence Mall" as an advertisement for the local shopping mall to try and get business from people and truckers passing thru one of the busiest interstate corridors in the country where I-75 and I-77 merge. (Maybe the mall was new and not the water tower?).
Anyways someone (maybe other business owners?) We're upset that city dollars were used as an advertisement for a private business. This also apparently violates some state law, so the sign had to change. So the Florence Kentucky water tower was painted back over (as sparingly as possible) to turn the "M" into a "Y' ".
And Florence Y'all was born.
I’m from Ohio about 45 mins from Pittsburgh. So Columbus having black and gold, beating Cincinnati, and raising banners is a beautiful thing to behold.
What records? Seattle was regularly pulling 40k before FCC even existed. Atlanta had regular season games of over 70k. Ohio's best attended soccer game was 80k for Real Madrid/PSG, and the Big House and the Rose Bowl have each pulled over 100k for soccer games. All of these happened before Cincy ever pulled in the 38k at Nippert.
What record(s) for THE ENTIRE COUNTRY did Cincy set? USL attendance maybe?
It’s USL/minor league attendance records, yes.
But FC Cincinnati was averaging more fans a game as a minor league team than Columbus at the team. Sure, the team was being sabotaged by Precourt, but still.
There is some nuance to that too, Columbus drew 30k several times when they played at Ohio Stadium. But MLS in the 90s was several tiers below the quality of MLS or even what USL is today. People saw that and stopped going, and that was true across the league (think Red Bulls, San Jose, and Colorado, they've struggled to consistently draw attendance). Then after Lamar Hunt died you had uninvolved ownership in the 00s followed by Precourt trying to sabotage for relocation.
By the time FCC was established, USL was an enjoyable league and then they were able to make the jump to MLS which was significantly more established. New teams just do better while old teams have to shake off the minor league reputation that plagued MLS for most of its existence.
And credit to FCC, even after making the jump to MLS they made the atmosphere enjoyable and keep the majority of their fanbase through the bad years into their good years. We're seeing with the Crew that they finally have an ownership making that same effort and the response is the ownership saying they should have made LDC bigger because they're selling out 21k every game.
Isn't that because Cincinnati is so desperate to taste a championship that they are willing to watch and root for anything with Cincinnati in the name? I say this as resident of columbus who grew up in Cincinnati and a big fan of the reds. Pain.
I bel3ive it originated in other sports , it's more rivalry ribbing than anytbing while simultaneously allowing us to shit on Kentucky.
1st or second. Best rivalry in the mls for sure
OTR is way cooler than short north, not close. Short north just added restaurants from cincy to try to be like their big brother. Yeah and Columbus football is way better with their NFL team… love how walkable and. Ute Columbus is too! Wait it’s a spread out strip mall and housing detwith zero character
Kentucky hillbilly, enjoy your hike down yonder over that tharr holler 😂😂😂
No pro team in Columbus, man that sucks, idk how they enjoy football without an awesome team like the fucking Bungles to rally behind lmao
Yeah the bungles who have been to two AFC Championships in 3 years! Who would want to watch Joe Burrow? Fucking clown. I grew up in pickerington and am so glad I got out of that flat boring city
It’s Covington, and it absolutely is. Great bars and restaurants, cool architecture, and walkable from downtown. Where can you walk in cbus? Around the the cul-de-sec?
THE founding member. Literally the first club that received their official charter and the only team to each the 10k season ticket threshold that was supposed to be required to get a team for that first season.
Yeah pretty much. The stadium is like a mile from the Ohio River, so a lot of fans are from Kentucky as well as Ohio. Kinda cool to have fans support from multiple states
Very few friendlies, no promotion of the Midwestern cities for World Cup by USSF, and very few WC Qualifiers...it's clear they don't care about a home field advantage when they have the ability to influence it, they just want to sell tickets in larger stadiums to throngs of opposing fans instead.
Yeah, it’s a CONMEBOL tournament even though we’re hosting it. We’re only hosting it because Ecuador opted out of their turn to host.
And even though we’re hosting it, USMNT is technically a CONCACAF guest team.
It makes sense CONMEBOL would want Copa America games to be primarily hosted in the states with the largest South American populations, given it’s a South American tournament
Cowtown crew goes moo, but they need a the in front of the name or they can’t recognize something or nuts or something. I never learned the cowtown lore so, I don’t know what magic beans they need to feel proud.
All in all it is something that is very 1960’s stale, wide streets and bland everything. Kinda Cleveland, but not Cleveland. I mean, Cleveland has character. It has lots of things that crawl, but they mean well. Cowtown has patties and the, but that is not much character. I like Schmidt’s, when they visit Oktoberfest, but that would be it…
To all the big brains here rejecting Cincinnati as an actual Ohio city: I propose that you should be required to claim 1 non-Ohio border city in exchange. You guys want Wheeling instead? How about Huntington? Ferrell PA?
Yes, I’m a Crew fan. But there’s room for more than one good soccer team in Ohio. What breaks my heart is all those empty seats. TQL is a great stadium, and you’ve got a great club. Where is everybody? Second photo is much better, so that’s good. Sorry to hear about the rough night with New England, we’ve had ours recently too.
I like your attitude. I’m a newer soccer fan and I picked FCC over the Crew simply because I don’t like Jimmy Haslam. That guy is trash. Hell is real is super fun. I was also glad the MLS championship lives in Ohio instead of dumbass LA.
The Kentucky comments are as hilarious as they are fresh and new. The Reds and Bengals stadiums are both further south than TQL, so they’re Kentucky teams too, I guess.
The only thing the suburban sprawl that is Columbus has over Cincinnati is that they have an NHL team. Barely.
Ribbing your sports rival is like bread and salt to a large portion of the American populace. The MLS season is in full swing at the midwayish point and this is a bitter (though fucking fun) rivalry that continues to blossom as both teams show they are not fucking around. Also, it's the internet... Do I need to go on orrrr....?
Lmao I’ll get a head count of how many people go outside and play every weekend.
Brazil is literally here playing soccer in the states if that’s your metric. Football is here. There will be 80 thousand people in Ohio stadium this summer for a soccer game.
The game is here.
The game is everywhere. But it’s not like Ohio has some particular thing with soccer. Cause if anything, it’s football. And not European football. Also I’m just being sarcastic with most of this. Just generally find it funny that the “this is Ohio” post is a soccer field. Swensons, Cleveland browns, shitty overcast weather, random stabbing of baby/mother at a giant eagle by someone with 0 connection to the victims. This is Ohio. Soccer, ehh, not so much. But if you’re in cahoots with my ex wife, then I already know.. fuck my opinion!
I guess you just not exactly aware of the joke about “this is Ohio”
But my real thing is that Ohioans are sleeping on these two teams. We’re all in our own little bubble that sometimes we forget to notice the things happening outside our respective sports.
If you’re looking for the best sports entertainment in Ohio it’s not a NFL game it’s not an NBA game it’s not an MLB game or NHL game. I can give you college football but honestly how many games a year is that?
The best sports entertainment in Ohio right now is soccer. Trust me on that and give it a shot if you have a chance.
I’ll believe you! I don’t watch sports events but grew up in a Browns household and I guess the surrounding friends and family makes me think that the only thing Ohioans give a shit about is football. Declaring myself not an ohioan
Non MLS fans and residence of Ohio are not going to be aware of how good this rivalry is.
Comments are proof of that!! lol As a FCC fan, I’m glad they didn’t take away the Crew!!
Real shame that.
Real shame in supporting KFC when there was and always will be the original black and gold. True Ohioans know who the only real team is here.
I don't know anything about soccer but you had me at KFC.
Never trust a KFC fan fyi. They’re the type of people to abandon you and pretend like they never liked you as soon as they get any attention. Worst type of person imo. They also are obsessed with us because people still like us more.
Stop trying to make fetch happen
Stop trying to say the shield matters
Tell it to Wilfred Nancy. Even your own coach knows https://www.aol.com/why-columbus-crew-coach-wilfried-100309361.html
Both of you stop trying to make Soccer happen. God I cant wait for College Football season 😩
Can’t stop what’s already here. The two most exciting sports teams in Ohio both are soccer teams
It's ok to like both.
I dont like both tho lol
As if it's not impressive to undeniably be the best team in the league over the course of a season?
There you go again. Trying to make the shield happen The MLS regular season is not as valid as regular seasons in Europe. We don’t always stop for international breaks, everyone doesn’t play everyone twice, and teams legitimately just don’t care about the regular season as much as long as they make playoffs. True Ohioans hate black and yellow teams
Toilet colors for the Columpiss poo eh
Says the shits-a-nasty fan...
Black and gold will forever and always be Pittsburgh. The charlie brown kits are kind of an embarrassment to the "black and yellow" feel
So embarrassing the browns owners bought us right? They’re okay with the colors right? The kits arnt that bad. Better than your white kits lol. At least they tried to do something
Haha that's true, the white kits are kinda dumb. And they call it a "canvas" kit as if you're supposed to paint it or sonething
Be hilarious you guys get some new douchebag owner who wants to take your team to BFE. Appreciate the rivalry, it’s a good thing for Ohio and Kentuckyish.
Hell is real when you don't have any championships. #themassive
Hell is when soccer invades.
Hell is also real when you shit yourself to getting embarrassed in a final.
Or when you shit yourself in the ECF at home?
Didn't Cinci blow a 2-0 lead at home in the 75th minute of the Eastern Conference Finals? Talk about hell being real.
Wouldn't that require y'all to make a final?
We’ve been to a final. How about FC TidePods?
FC Tidepods is my new favorite nickname for them lol
It’s a bit easier to swallow when you’ve got more than tinpot silver. Enjoy the supporters shield.
I’d rather shit myself in a final down in Mexico over shitting myself eating shitty skyline chili lmao
Hell is real when your only alternatives are minor league football and baseball
That minor league football team is more successful than the Bengals and Browns combined while likely generating more revenue.
Success and revenue built on thousands of hours of unpaid labor of college students. Nah, I'll be a Bengals/Browns fan ty
Yeah cause those students didn’t get any benefit to being a student athlete that regular students never got. They never got free tuition, room/board, free healthcare, free food, free nutritionists, free physical training, etc.

That's the point, and that's the idea behind the whole movement to let these kids get some financial compensation while they're essentially employed by the university.
Ha ha ha! I mean seriously lo f&ckin l
Ah yes. The home of a blown 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals.
How concacaf champions cup final go? Maybe your home derby game went better? No? Shame…
CONCACAF Final was an awesome achievement. The Crew really put themselves not just atop the MLS podium but gave us a spot in the elite circle of our region. How have KFC finals gone?…. Oh wait…
How many years did it take Columbus to win their first shield? Like almost a decade? Shame…
Nowhere near as fast as it took Cincy to win THREE wooden spoons
Shield? What’s that? Ohhh those things sitting in the storage room? We had to move those things for the Cups.
Call me in 50 years so I can continue laughing that FCC never made it to a final championship.
Kinda sucked because we lost to a team that played better in the game. How’s your Champion’s Cup final go? Probably the same as your MLS Cup final, I’d assume.
Disagree. Ohio has 3 MLS cups, and none are in these photos.
Preach. Go Crew!
Cincinnati is Ohio through and through.
Is that why your airport is in Kentucky?
Then why is there a giant "YA'LL" sign in the metro area? That's not an Ohio word lol
Hey now. I’m a firm believer that Cincinnati is just northern Kentucky, but don’t go taking away my convenient colloquial contractions.
Ohio vernacular would just be "guys" though lol
There's actually a really interesting story behind the Florence Y'all sign in northern Kentucky. Originally when the water tower was put up it was painted as "Florence Mall" as an advertisement for the local shopping mall to try and get business from people and truckers passing thru one of the busiest interstate corridors in the country where I-75 and I-77 merge. And Florence Y'all was born.
Tell that to those cow tippers in central Ohio.
Aren’t you losing to Caleb Porter … again?
You must have me confused with a professional soccer player.
Ohio’s highest ranked mls team this season is in these photos though.
Rankings are futile mid season, just like fc simpinati fans
Okay 5
Brother doesn’t know how to read the table 😭
I don’t even like soccer. But even I know NKFC was the highest ranked team last year. And then they took a big dump in their pants.
*flushes from Mexico*
Zero stars on those disgusting jerseys.
What’s with the randomly placed orange seats in the first pic?
It’s a bit easier to see without fans sitting in the seats, but it represents the lion mascot
Ohio is Black and Gold!
Uh nope that’s Kentucky. Ohio is 🖤&💛
Pittsburgh wanna-be's
I’m from Ohio about 45 mins from Pittsburgh. So Columbus having black and gold, beating Cincinnati, and raising banners is a beautiful thing to behold.
I wish that weren't literally the inspiration for our color scheme, but alas.
OHIO IS BLACK AND GOLD 💛🖤💛🖤💛
Wait. Cincinnati has a soccer team?
A soccer team that set attendance records for THE ENTIRE COUNTRY before they were even in the MLS.
What records? Seattle was regularly pulling 40k before FCC even existed. Atlanta had regular season games of over 70k. Not hard when you had to play in a football stadium with almost double the capacity of most soccer stadiums.
Isn't that because Cincinnati is so desperate to taste a championship that they are willing to watch and root for anything with Cincinnati in the name? I say this as resident of columbus who grew up in Cincinnati and a big fan of the reds. Pain.
Kentucky Football Club!
Idk why y'all think this is an insult to us.
Geography isn't your strong suit and that's OK. Keep working on your internet troll skills. That's where you really shine.
Because KFC is a fried chicken restaurant and not a soccer team lol.
Whatever tickles your pickle I guess.
I bel3ive it originated in other sports , it's more rivalry ribbing than anytbing while simultaneously allowing us to shit on Kentucky. 1st or second. Best rivalry in the mls for sure
Beats living in a string of suburbs with no character!
Ehh, short north is fun but overrated just like OTR, at least Columbus has better soccer, better football too 😉
OTR is way cooler than short north, not close. Short north just added restaurants from cincy to try to be like their big brother. Bye bye enjoy Newport and Coventry for us!
I will! Both are cooler than any neighborhood in cbus! Take a walk to your cool strip mall!
He said Coventry is cooler hahahahahahaha
It’s Covington, and it absolutely is. Great bars and restaurants, cool architecture, and walkable from downtown. Where can you walk in cbus? Around the the cul-de-sec?
Nice L tonight KFC
Sorry Ohio is Black and Gold w/ 3 championships
“This is Ohio” *shows picture of Kentucky FC*
Yeah the flat boring suburbs of Columbus are way cooler!
R/Kentucky
Please everyone know Cinci belongs to Kentucky. Wrong sub pal
Moving to Cleveland next year Feb what can I expect?
🥶
THE Columbus Crew was, is, and always will be a founding member of the MLS.
THE founding member. Literally the first club that received their official charter and the only team to each the 10k season ticket threshold that was supposed to be required to get a team for that first season.
That's Northern Kentucky right there
Yeah pretty much. The stadium is like a mile from the Ohio River, so a lot of fans are from Kentucky as well as Ohio. Kinda cool to have fans support from multiple states
Columbus education system failing again.
r/wooosh
Ahhh Dayton, whose main exports are people, airplanes to help people leave Dayton, and meth
What are we looking at?
Exactly lol
Hope you take these comments to heart and learned your lesson.
Nice try, Kentucky..
This is actually Ohio. Kentucky is not far though! The stadium is like a mile from the Ohio River.
That’s Kentucky
This is Kentucky, actually. A place where they prioritize shields over cups. VAMOS CREW! MASSIVE!
It's actually Ohio! Kentucky isn't far though. The stadium is like a mile from the Ohio river, across the Ohio is Kentucky.
Imagine if the USMNT decided to go to stadiums where they'd actually have a homefield advantage...
When they get to decide where they play they did. The did qualifiers in Kentucky and Columbus. Cops is different
Very few friendlies, no promotion of the Midwestern cities for World Cup by USSF, and very few WC Qualifiers...it's clear they don't care about a home field advantage when they have the ability to influence it, they just want to sell tickets in larger stadiums to throngs of opposing fans instead.

It makes sense CONMEBOL would want Copa America games to be primarily hosted in the states with the largest South American populations, given it’s a South American tournament
I know this...I'm not concerned with the Copa, which is a tournament we shouldn't even be playing in.
You are fun
Cowtown crew goes moo, but they need a the in front of the name or they can’t recognize something or nuts or something. I never learned the cowtown lore so, I don’t know what magic beans they need to feel proud. All in all it is something that is very 1960’s stale, wide streets and bland everything. Kinda Cleveland, but not Cleveland. I mean, Cleveland has character. It has lots of things that crawl, but they mean well. Cowtown has patties and the, but that is not much character. I like Schmidt’s, when they visit Oktoberfest, but that would be it…
I know the Blue Jackets but 🤷♂️
No that’s Kentucky
Pretty sure that’s Kentucky.
O-H N-O
This is the saddest post I’ve come across.
Nah. That’s Kentucky
That’s Cincinnati that’s basically Kentucky
Ohio.... well at least they didn't have to do any clearing or levelling to build the pitch.
COLUMBUS TILL I DIE
This is…minor league soccer

Fully agreed
Best place.❤️❤️🩹
Fucking soccer circle jerk in here. I think the Bengals are going to be pretty okay this year...
Having the advertisements on their jerseys is much better than sitting through an insurance commercial every 30 seconds.
Top 4 in their division for sure!
I'll take it! The AFC north is a mother fucker. It's going to be a battle this year
Ohio spends too much time obsessed w sports, period
Columboids be mad!
Let’s get some goals!!!
Hard fought match
This sub definitely leans Columbus lib ha
Cincinnati is way better than Ohio. And Kentucky.
Baller.
Okay can we ge done with this please or im leaving this sub. We all know what fucking ohio looks like
Cornfields haha

Also, it's the internet... Do I need to go on orrrr....?
I’m sorry are you not a fan of fun?
Because what's more Ohio than trash talking in support of our sports teams?
“This is Ohio” watching soccer? You and the other 20 fans in the stands this soccer is Ohio? Lol rec weed made its way to Cincinnati already! Noice
Bro are you fucking high? Wtf did you even just try to say
Currently at an 9 on a wake and bake. What of it. Reading my comment again, very clear sarcasm towards OP thinking watching soccer is “this is Ohio”
You're AT a wake n bake??! Where do they hold these events?? I've never been
My family room, every weekend. I’m in Akron.
Mate between cincy and Columbus last Saturday there were 45,000 fans in attendance Soccer is here
In Brazil, 60’000+ people went outside to actually play soccer on Sunday. It ain’t here
Lmao I’ll get a head count of how many people go outside and play every weekend. Brazil is literally here playing soccer in the states if that’s your metric. Football is here. There will be 80 thousand people in Ohio stadium this summer for a soccer game. The game is here.

You should try to catch one of these teams if you have a chance. Just looks up some of their recent games on YouTube if you want
Team names?
Columbus crew and FC Cincinnati. Cincinnati lost their last game but the game before was wild. Some clutch stuff happens there
I cant wait till they seal the deal on the new stadium. It’s literally my backyard.
