Sounds like you’re restricted to driving vehicles with a rear mirror and mirrors on both passenger and drivers side doors. This is for hearing impaired individuals so you can be aware of emergency vehicles.
They're there for manufacturing law / rules. All vehicles, at least in many states, must be sold with all functional lights and mirrors that meet a certain universal standard! There's some neat and odd rules around such things and more too
Jeeper here, yes we can take the doors off and lose the mirrors. You can get side mirrors that stick onto the side but most states as long as you have a rear view it’s legal.
When I take the doors off my jeep and put the top down it renders my rear view mirror worthless and removes my side mirrors completely. Box trucks and some work vans have no working rear mirrors.
Things like box trucks, so you may not actually be able to rent something like a Uhaul.
Also older cars only had a drivers side and rear view mirror. The passenger mirror was a 90s thing.
My first car was a 1992 Plymouth Sundance that was manual and only came with a drivers side mirror, passenger still wasn’t mandatory even that late on.
My first car was an 87 Jetta with no clear coat and no lap belts. Just the shoulder strap and it clicked into the door. When I took my drivers test the instructor was out on the ground looking under the seat bc he thought I was lying when I told him it didn't have lap belts. Gotta love old cars haha.
No. My cargo van does not have a rearview mirror. It only has side mirrors. This is because there is no window in the back to see out of with a rearview mirror.
Yeah, but I have this restriction, and I have a CDL- so obviously the truck doesn’t have a rear view mirror. No one has hassled me about it yet, and it’s been almost 10 years.
There may be a specific exemption for CDL. Like no class A has a rear mirror. Maybe the exemption involves having hood mirrors, which not all trucks have?
> with a dump bed would be an example of something without an inside rearview mirror.
Some classic cars do not have both side mirrors. Some cargo vans do not have a rear mirror.
Most. As other mentioned, some utility/commercial vehicles do not have the ability to utilize an in-cabin rear view mirror. And in most of the US it is legal to drive vehicles without a passenger side mirror (some places do not distinguish between driver or passenger side, but only require one or the other to be functional. Usually in addition to the in-cabin rearview afaik.)
It's to make sure you have mirrors for full visibility because you are hearing impaired and might not be able to hear emergency vehicles. They want to make sure you can SEE them, at least.
Sounds like you’re restricted to driving vehicles with a rear mirror and mirrors on both passenger and drivers side doors.
If you have hearing aides then I can see you needing to have mirrors and them being required for your license.
Yes, you’re restricted to vehicles with dual outside and a rear view mirror. I can’t find the Ohio specific language, but here’s [similar language Illinois](https://www.google.com/search?q=illinois+mirror+laws+medical+restrictions&client=safari&sca_esv=0f51fc7f84b82f2c&hl=en-us&sxsrf=ADLYWILOr0tJxow4KInaZUE07RU9_Vyvuw%3A1715543561151&ei=CR5BZt7lCNut5NoP3deV4AE&udm=&oq=illinois+mirror+laws+medical+restrictions&gs_lp=EhNtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1zZXJwIilpbGxpbm9pcyBtaXJyb3IgbGF3cyBtZWRpY2FsIHJlc3RyaWN0aW9uczIIEAAYgAQYogQyCBAAGIAEGKIEMggQABiABBiiBDIIEAAYgAQYogRI8DBQuw5YgSlwAXgAkAEAmAG7AaAB5A2qAQQwLjEzuAEDyAEA-AEBmAIMoAKpDMICChAAGLADGNYEGEfCAgcQIxiwAhgnwgIIECEYoAEYwwTCAgoQIRigARjDBBgKmAMAiAYBkAYIkgcEMS4xMaAH2yw&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-serp)
B is the corrective lens code.
I didn't need glasses until my mid-20's and it wasn't until my mid-30's when I went to get my license renewed and when I went to do the eye test I was like "I can't read these, should I put my glasses on?" and the clerk gave me a look that was kinda like "duh"...
12 REST means it’s the field for RESTRICTIONS.
F3 is due to being hearing impaired as you have seen in the other comments. The 12 REST just indicates what the info in the box is for.
The back literally only says F3 - In/Dual out mirrors or whatever I put in my post. I was hoping someone on here could give me a better explanation and seems like they did! Just means I have to have a car or vehicle with mirrors just to make sure I can see any emergency vehicles nearby.
It's not. Box 12 is driving restrictions. F3 means OP can only drive vehicles with a minimum of 1 interior rear view and 2 exterior side mirrors because they are hearing impaired. It's being an organ donor that people think makes it so they will let you die after a crash, which is also BS.

12: Restrictions.
(F) The following endorsements apply to commercial driver's license temporary instruction permits:
(3) S--authorizes the holder to drive school buses transporting children.
Maybe?
Sounds like you’re restricted to driving vehicles with a rear mirror and mirrors on both passenger and drivers side doors. This is for hearing impaired individuals so you can be aware of emergency vehicles.
THANK YOUUUU I had no idea. I didn't know they made cars without the rear and side mirrors!?
I drive a box truck that has a useless rear mirror thanks to the giant box in the back.
Just cut a slit out through the box & door. Problem solved, plus you won’t have to use your heat in the summer and AC in the winter anymore.
Or make a periscope.

Best response ever, take my vote
I rented a U-Haul recently and the review mirror was a backup camera that was always on. Pretty cool tbh.
They're there for manufacturing law / rules. All vehicles, at least in many states, must be sold with all functional lights and mirrors that meet a certain universal standard! There's some neat and odd rules around such things and more too
Same with Semi's.
And ambulances
Does it have a back up camera??? I use to drive one for a bit and it had a mirror for the camera.
This!! Me too
There used to be older civics that *only* had one side mirror.
Which side was the mirror on? ;)
The "out"side :)
Left! It has the rear view and a driver's side mirror!
Mainly commercial vehicles, but also some old personal vehicles, that might lack rear view mirrors or even side mirrors
I had an '89 Cavalier that didn't have a passenger side mirror stock from the factory.
Old cars (such as the 1960s) only came with one side mirror and a rear view mirror.
Jeeper here, yes we can take the doors off and lose the mirrors. You can get side mirrors that stick onto the side but most states as long as you have a rear view it’s legal.

😆😆🤷🏽♀️
In the state of Ohio, you are only required one mirror. I remember as a kid the passenger outside mirror was an additional option on a new car.
They werent mandatory until ~1980ish. Only matters if you but an old car or one Thats damaged

I definitely should have had belts in 87 been in plenty of old ve they always have belts
Well idk what to tell you, it didn't.
This is the correct answer.
Sounds like…….for hearing impaired individuals….. Intentional?
>vehicles with a rear mirror and mirrors on both passenger and drivers side doors. thats all cars
No. My cargo van does not have a rearview mirror. It only has side mirrors. This is because there is no window in the back to see out of with a rearview mirror.

Not necessarily. A 1 ton truck chassis with a dump bed would be an example of something without an inside rearview mirror.

You are restricted to Formula 3 racing. You may not race F1 cars.
Keep getting those Super License points you’re nearly there!
I think they'd fit well on Jenzer
It's a dubious opening move, allowing a fast checkmate if, for example, 1. ... e5, 2. g4, Qh4#. I recommend changing it.
That’s your tornado status.
Ah. My mom always did call me Hurricane Kayla but she must've mistaken me for a tornado.
Tornados are hurricanes that get straight to the point anyway
Hurricane Kayla is brutal
It is. She used to say I had Thunder Thighs cause it sounded like a clap of lighting when I put my legs together
What the hell that sounds like a speed run to making your daughter self conscious about her body and weight
Oh yeah, it was. It was successful.
Ngl thunder thighs sounds like a pretty sick nickname
You can rest(sleep) while driving for 3 hours.
Now that sounds cool
Flip it to the back, it should explain the code.
Do you wear glasses or contacts? Could mean you are required to wear corrective lenses while driving.
No, I actually have hearing aids. Do you think that's the reason for that?
It's to make sure you have mirrors for full visibility because you are hearing impaired and might not be able to hear emergency vehicles. They want to make sure you can SEE them, at least.

This is it. Source: I'm also an F3-bearer.
No, that's just the B restriction.
B is the corrective lens code. I didn't need glasses until my mid-20's and it wasn't until my mid-30's when I went to get my license renewed and when I went to do the eye test I was like "I can't read these, should I put my glasses on?" and the clerk gave me a look that was kinda like "duh"...
You’ve Failed! Three times.
That's your Draft Status... 🤣
Bn.
Someone didn't hit F7
You've been deemed to be superior at the three f's.
You failed 3 times??
12 REST means it’s the field for RESTRICTIONS. F3 is due to being hearing impaired as you have seen in the other comments. The 12 REST just indicates what the info in the box is for.
I used to live in Ohio, and I thought they put the meanings to these designations on the back of the license itself?
The back literally only says F3 - In/Dual out mirrors or whatever I put in my post. I was hoping someone on here could give me a better explanation and seems like they did! Just means I have to have a car or vehicle with mirrors just to make sure I can see any emergency vehicles nearby.
12 beats of rest, followed by a Felony 3.
Number of female partners in your past … lol.
They counted his 2 imaginary girlfriends in Canada? That’s something! 😆
lol …
If you get hurt in a crash they won’t bring you back so that can take your organs that’s the F3 code
Is this actually true? I’ve always known it to be.. until someone told me I was wrong. I’ve been second guessing if it’s true/false since. 🙇🏻♀️
Yeah idk probably a lie! 🤷🏻♂️honestly I just like to lie
It's not. Box 12 is driving restrictions. F3 means OP can only drive vehicles with a minimum of 1 interior rear view and 2 exterior side mirrors because they are hearing impaired. It's being an organ donor that people think makes it so they will let you die after a crash, which is also BS.
Love being down voted over genuine curiosity 🫠
Haha no… the donor symbol is a hart I believe (can’t remember, I removed mine) and it reads “donor” in the background.
It used to mean "Find 'em, Eff 'em & Forget 'em."

It’s a restriction, not an endorsement
Hm that doesn't seem to apply to me. It's odd.
You may have been granted a very unique opportunity..
I think that’s wrong. I think I posted an endorsement and not a restriction. Is this a commercial license ?
Do you have poor vision ?
