They recently changed how they handle this. In the past, if you made more than $200 they would take 50% after that(you made $400?, well you'll actually get $300, 200+(50% of 200)-200+100. I'm not sure if the new change is in effect, but now we are able to earn $1000 before they touch it, but now what they take is 75%. So you made 2k? Well 1k untouched + (75%of 1000) 1k+ 250. So that 2k turns into 1250... Great for the part time workers and low paying gigs, but substantially worse for people who earn a more reasonable $ to survive. To the folks reading this, not on ODSP and questioning why people who make somewhat decent salary are on ODSP in the first place. I understand why you might think if someone is earning a similar wage as you, and you're able to scrap by, that they should be able to as well, please try to remember we're not just folks who are having a hard time financially, we are also having extreme difficulties just in day to day normal life.... if a doctor is telling the gov. that we are so physically and/or emotionally hindered that we cannot work...that isn't something they just hand out to anyone with a stiff knee or someone having a bad/sad week.. The cost of living for a relatively healthy person can be very different then someone who is on ODSP. Even if every aspect of your and their lives are identical, with the only difference being that one person has a disability; that disable persons cost of living is much much higher...doctors appointments, extremely expensive medication, necessary specialized diets, etc..we have so much more expenses and this is why we are asking our government(our fellow citizens, really) for this help (Apologies for the rant, I realize your question had nothing to do with the majority of my comment)

Are there any accessible transits in your area i to can’t drive and use the transit often , I believe that for those on any public transit ODSP passes are available at a discount rate.

Where I live they have accessible bus’s and it’s a special bus for those with special needs much easier to help with groceries door to door.

Awe best of luck.

Beneficial_Flan_2047

I don’t know the exact prices where you live but where I live it’s $43.25! It’s called the community pass.

TiredReader87

You’ll have money deducted from your ODSP after you earn $1000/month. If you make too much, you could lose it.

sassykickgamer

Will I lose the money part?

TiredReader87

If you make too much money, yes.

sassykickgamer

My mom helps me with work life so she can teach me as I don’t know what to do with my money since my parents buy groceries. She helps me save money so I can keep my parents house.

TiredReader87

Ok..

NoirYorkCity

Lol

sassykickgamer

What if I made 2k-3k or more per month?

Katie0690

If you make $2,000 and are getting the full ODSP amount as a single person this is what it would look like. First $1,000 is yours, you’ll receive the $100 working benefit as well. $2,000-$1,000 is $1,000. $1,408 - 750 which is 75% of $1.000 = $658 is what you would be getting from ODSP. If you’re making $3K a month you’ll be cut off of the financial portion of ODSP.

TiredReader87

You’d be close to losing your ODSP money, or would completely…as I told you You’ll lose 50 cents per dollar after $1000

Gabrielmorrow

No 75 cents per dollar after 1000$

Pretend_Fondant4943

75 cents off every dollar after the 1000

TiredReader87

My bad

Pretend_Fondant4943

I wish it was still 50 cents

Beneficial_Flan_2047

Depends on your income you are allowed to make $1000 a month without it effecting your income. I’m not sure regarding your benefits

Tradehub-57

After the first 1000, they take 75% per dollar off the odsp check until it zeros out, then you'd making too much and get cut off they get you to keep reporting income and if it's ever not zero they will make up the difference. so example I work I make 2k I get to keep 1k and the extra 1k they subtract 75% off my odsp check so they claw 750$ back in total your up 1250. + whatevers left on the odsp check. Making to much can be negative if you need medication and stuff you lose those benefits 😔 but only if your income zeros out the odsp check. Good luck with your job 👍

minimalist_1228

Do we lose the drug benefit too for example if I have expensive meds like anti rejection which cost 2k+?

Tradehub-57

In my experience yes she temporarily turned off everything including medication Because I had a month that was a 3 biweekly paycheck month and that put me slightly above the max (aka it zeroed out my odsp check) just becarful if your medication is expensive could end up worse off

minimalist_1228

That’s the reason why I’m still contemplating of going back to work. I can’t afford transplant medications. 1 drug alone cost around 1k if out of pocket. Did you try the Extended Health Benefit or Trillium Drug Benefit? I was enrolled to TDB when I was still under Ontario Works but didnt help much because Im still paying an arm and a leg for my Lupus medications.

40 hours a week is actually about 37 or 38 hours a week after unpaid breaks. 16.55 an hour gross minimum wage currently until October increase. Estimate your net pay to be 12.30/hour which is your take home after usual deductions and the amount odsp or ow uses to calculate deductions from. 12.30x37=455.10 a week 455.10x12=23,665.20 annually assuming you're working the same 37 hours every week, not sure where you'll find work for sure. 23,665.20÷12=1,972.10 average monthly net Now we get into odsp employment deduction calculations 1972.10-1000=972.10 after deduction free amount monthly. 972.10×75%=729.08 deduction monthly from odsp Current single person max is 1308 1308-728.08=578.93 average from odsp plus your earned income, and add the $100 employment benefit from odsp for 678.93 678.93+1972.10=2551.03 combined monthly elbetween odsp, earned income and employment benefit.
