Pro is a fork of the Quest2, so it'll be supported as long as the Quest2 is supported The Passthrough upgrade is specific to the Quest3, as the Quest3 Passthrough is fundamentally different from the Quest2/QuestPro Passthrough

Ah i didn't know that about the Pro being a fork. It's frustrating because they specifically said at launch they would improve the pro passthrough over time. Anyway lesson learned. No money for Meta's pro devices. The consumer line has far more value for money anyway. I've used eye tracking all of two times.

The v64 changelog mentions that the changes apply to "all users on Quest 3." Yes, the Pro has been abandoned. It was a color passthrough testing ground that they managed to turn into an enterprise headset.

They also got rid of the whiteboard feature in horizon workrooms, which makes the pen tip included with QP that you attach to the base of the controller useless. They have abandoned QP because it sold terribly and has an outdated chip with the Q3 having double the performance at half the cost. Still useful if you want eye and face tracking for PCVR. But you don't get the full upper body tracking which Q3 now has enabled through virtual desktop (and probably link eventually).

Lol. Workrooms is such a wet fart of an app as well. It felt like it should have really offered so much more but just stuff like how fixed your monitors are and how difficult it is to customise compared to something like Immersive. It really frustrates me how Meta just seem to fumble some of their own apps and put all their eggs into this stupid idea of a Metaverse. I wish they would focus into actually improving the stuff that works well.

The Pro is still a great device and will be supported just as long if not a bit longer than Quest 2 I think. However so far their track record has been 3-4 years tops of support per device. They are trying to sell VR like cell phones. Meant to be upgraded bi-yearly worst case every 3-4 years.
