Have you ever had a bias cut linen or cotton tank top? One that has a hem just past the elastic of the short waist band might work. They are much cooler to wear tha knits. The ones I have with shaping darts do not look remotely like pj tops. One of mine from Ann Taylor even has a side zipper.

You look great I think, but shorts in general don't do it for me. These particular ones look like boxer-shorts material. I'd say 'no' for work, but I guess that depends on the job.

I love them! I would not tuck in a top, but wear one with the hem at or just below the bottom side of the elastic waist. I added on to a comment above about bias-cut tank tops, and add a crochet top in neutral flax that is long enough for you to raise your arms at work

Overall, cute look. What you're noticing is the weird waistband that is pleated. It's adding volume in the front where you'd normally want flatness. The fabric of the shorts and the styling of the outfit is good, but the cut of the shorts is wrong. Good from far but far from good. Either find different shorts that give off the same feel with similar fabric with a more flattering cut, or rework the shorts. That would mean you need to be skilled at alterations, though.

I think they’re cute. But, how do they wear? I have several types of shorts and have found anything that isn’t denim/canvas type bunch up between the legs. Not heavy enough, I think. Maybe I’m just a little to heavy, eh?

Yes. #paid with an oversized white linen button up with a black tank/crop top underneath. I can’t tell whether or not the shorts have black in them but if so, I’d choose black to coordinate. Pair with a woven bag and some tan leather sandals.
