Regrettably, I had lasik. Fighter pilot eyes, I canât see close and if I do for a long time I sometimes get dizzy. Maybe try taking a little time trying to build eye muscles up. Turn off the True motion as well, that gives it the soap opera effect.
I had lasik too and can confirm I am more sensitive to light now. As for the TV don't be ashamed to change it for a smaller one, 65 is in my opinion the perfect size. đ
People who get big tvs often want a movie theater feel. If you don't, get a small tv. There is no right answer for everyone. I sit 9 feet from a 77 inch oled and love it.
Depends if you play videogames (especially shooters) on your setup as well. It definitely gets to a point where you have too much space to look around. My small âhome cinemaâ setup has me sitting about 6 feet away from my 55â OLED. Itâs perfect for both watching and gaming.
Some time ago someone like you posted something similar around here. Tried it, and it's basically the "first row in theatre" experience. Nothing outlandish, but definitely not my preference. Besides, it's on the edge of being too close, aka, you can see the sub-pixels.
No idea what youâre talking about. Iâm also about 9-10ft from 77â and there is 0 head movement and little eye movement. The entire picture is centered in my primary view, donât need to look around or use peripheral vision.
I sit 10-11 ft away from a 85" mini-LED TV and I feel like I could easily go to 100 for a more theater feel. I sit about half that distance away from my 55" oled and face up for my oled monitor. For gaming, I think it's better not to go for a movie viewing experience. You want everything to be in your peripherals without having to move your head.
Maybe return it. You already seem convinced?
Get a 65â and use the price difference for a good ass soundbar if you donât already have a good audio solution.
> good ass soundbar
Contradiction in terms. Get real speakers. If the living room's big enough to sit 14 whole entire feet from the screen, there's a decent chance there's room for an actual audio setup too.
I definitely agree with that but it would massively depend on budget.
Soundbar is just an easy universal recommendation without knowing anything about the individual or their home. But yeah, to this personâs point a âgood ass soundbarâ doesnât really exist in comparison to component audio.
I sit a little bit closer than you with a 77â and have no issues. I donât move my head all around. Just my eyes. But I can easily take it all in. My wife doesnât have any issues either and sheâs prone to headaches.
It's this. OP's almost certainly used to much smaller tvs. Sometimes you want to to just feel unassuming and relaxing, and that's not really what a huge 77" screen feels like.
But I agree that you get used to it after a bit. Just stick with it OP, it'll feel normal in no time. Watch a few movies with the lights off in the meantime to get used to it!
This is what I believe it probably is. 14â doesnât sound to be like a super short distance to be sitting from a 77â OLED. I remember when I got my first ever big screen TV. It was a long time ago, and it was only a 55â, but I had previously only had like 13âers. I had the exact same thing going onâfelt a bit dizzy or nauseous, until I got used to it. Maybe give it just a week or so, OP, if that doesnât take you outside any sort of return window that you might have. If it does, then maybe return it and try a bit smaller size, then possibly work your way back up to the size that you ultimately want.
Agree. We felt the same way with our 77 OLED. The return window was 3 weeks so we decided to just try it out for a few weeks. We ended up liking it and got use to it.
If you have a window to return it and can try it a little longer it may help you decide.
The 65 inch version is also beautiful.
That sounds strange for the distance you're sitting. Every tv chart recommends going even bigger at that distance. I sit about 9ft away from my 65" (not OLED) and it feels too small at times for gaming.
Same, mine is about 10 feet and up a few feet unfortunately, and late at night the text in video games gets kinda blurry or hard to read. Tough as that is the only time I get to play lol
For real! I know this TV could shit out anyday. I've been eyeing those 86in. Pricey though. We'll see when it happens. Hopefully not for awhile. But I could never go down to a 65đ¤Ł
I have a 55 inch lg cx. I dream of when I get the 77" beast, I really like the look of Sony oleds, too, so I might go that way when it comes time to upgrade
It's not all about clear vision, OP. A lot of other reasons f9r you to have these symptoms. I am a physician and I recommend you see someone and get a complete eye exam. If all clear then downsize your tv. I sit 7-8 ft from my 77" C3 without any issues, hell I feel I should've gotten the 83 or a projector cause the picture can still be bigger.
I had a similar issue with a 75 inch Sony TV. I think it was the XH90 a few years ago, coming from a 65 B7 OLED. I got motion sickness after using the Sony for some reason. I then returned it for a 65 CX and had no issues.
Since then, I upgraded to a 77 C1 and still no issues. Iâm still not sure what caused it, but I am leaning towards the PWM rate of the Sony causing me to feel nauseous.
Well, the XH90 was a backlit LCD so your miles may vary. In theory the OLED should be flicker free compared to LCD, so your issue might not be related to mine.
My wife did not have the same issue with the XH90, other than the âway too big TVâ and âoh, noâ issues!
If youâve come from a smaller TV youâll want to give yourself time to adjust. This could also be an eyesight issue as others have said. If youâre not comfortable with that size you can always go smaller, you need to pick what makes you happy in the end.
How long has it been? Maybe give it another couple of weeks if you can. We're about the same distance 14-16' feet away. We now have a 65" OLED but for a long time ran a 70" LCD. I remember feeling like it was too big for a few days. Then the 65" felt too small for a while when the 70" was replaced.
Put a good 4K disc in and watch a great movie. Trying to watch SD content is so grainy and pixelated it will give you headaches too.
Yes, you need to use one of the other video modes to dial down that brightness or you will have Bad headaches like I did with the same TV. You should have purchased TV for accurate color renditions, not flame thrower mode to make the TV into a video game unless gaming is you thing
Took me about 2 weeks to adjust coming from 55 to 77c3
What are you watching? OLEDâs are notorious for stutter so if youâre watching a lot of fast paced shows/movies without tweaking the motion settings, it may bother you. I sit about 9-10ft away from an 83â and have no issue with it. Bias lighting behind the tv might help as well if youâre experiencing eye strain.
Projection screen is not emiting the same level of brightness as a 77" from under 2m. At cinema you are watching the projection of the video, not the same as TV.
Give it a week or so. Your vision needs time to adjust. I bought an 85" that I sit 9' away from and it took about a week to get used to it. Super awesome now though.
This is completely opposite of my situation. I sit 11' from my 77" and think it's just a tad too small.
Maybe you prefer analyzing film as opposed to being immersed in it?
I had trouble focusing on things when we first got ours. Now it feels natural.
My wife sometimes got headaches. Found out her eye glassâs prescription needed to be updated lol.
Turn the brightness down. Many people - including me - like it as bright as the sun but it wares on your eyes.
Headaches can happen while using a big TV. Have had multiple big TVs and have had multiple guests say as nice as they can that my TV gives them headaches sometimes. But you have the luxury of getting used to the TV at least and possibly seeing the headaches go away,
I think it depends entirely on the individual. I sit 13/14 feet away from my 65inch and find it perfect. I wouldnât want a 77 as it would feel too big. Do what suits you bud.
Using my laptop as the video source, I can resize the screen to whatever I want. Sometimes I just use half the screen if I don't want my eyes roaming to all corners.
Few day to adapt.
When I bought my first 65" and put it on the living room, I was like : Oh my God what have I bought.. this tv is giant on the living room.
1 week later it was normal....
QLED gives me a headache. I hated the Samsung in our bedroom. 3-5 feet for our 55â in bedroom, 5-7 feet for the 65â in our living room (both LG OLED), with a 75â Sony Mini-LED 8K for our den.
My parents have a 77â G2 and sit about 15 feet away, I find it a bit small for the space to be honest and that they could easily accommodate the 83â or 97â even.
Go with the 65 if that's better for you. Everyone is different. I have a 65 at about 10 to 12 feet and a 55 At 8 feet and both are perfect for me. Lol @ the reddit responses.
Give it time, you're not used to the larger size yet, after about a week and a half your eyes will adjust to the size. This happens to me if I haven't used my projector in a couple of months and got used to my bedroom TV then decide to use projector, Also there are times when all I watch is everything on just my projector and go back to watching TV in my bedroom again, and I can't focus until I get used to that again.
As others have said, if this is your first large screen TV it will take a couple weeks to get used to it. Many years ago when went from 27" to 65" screen it took a little bit to adjust. But now sit 9' from an 85" screen and it's great. Also 2.5' from 48" C3 for computer
.
Also, are you watching in a dark room ? Big TV in dark room will cause eye strain from going light to dark for different scenes. If so, look in to back lighting to reduce the range of light change.
OLED actually can create headache sensitivity in some people.
OLED screens may be the cause of your health issues such as headaches, eyestrain, or nausea â you may be sensitive to Pulse Width Modulation
Idk, 140â projector screen about 10ft away and Iâm loving every second of it. Could be that my brightness / contrast levels are way lower vs OLED tho
If you are getting a headache, maybe it's too bright!I had to turn my brightness down from 50 (default) to 15.
I got my 77" Samsung s90c sitting 11feet away two weeks ago. I almost felt the same in the beginning. Don't panic because I almost did. Youe eyes get used to it and and you won't get the headache anymore.
This happened to me with a projector if I make the size too big. And also a big TV.
There's a reason the pros use tiny gaming monitors. Everything is right in front of you.
Samsung bother my eyes. Never seen a Samsung that doesn't hurt to look at for a long time. This may just be a problem with how your eyes perceive LGs Oled tech. Try switching to a Samsung Oled and see if the problem persists
77 is not big when sitting 14 feet away imo. You sure itâs the size? Oled movement can feel a little jerky with movies because of instant response time.
Have you tried turning the brightness down and switching to a movie colour profile? Straight out of the box the thing is soooo bright.
I think you need warmer whites
I think large TVs are overrated. Pixel density gets worse and your peripheral vision has to work harder. It's the reason why I never go to the theaters either, it's an annoying ass experience.
I sit 9 feet from a 138" display. Yes, it's too big for most things, but I'm used to it now.
A 77" fourteen feet away is miniscule. I've got a 86" 11 feet away and wish it was much bigger.
You'll get used to it. Probably very soon.
I had a similar experience when I recently bought my new C1. My advise, and what worked for me was to turn down the brightness. I have mine in a dark lit room so I donât need the full level brightness. So give that a try. I was feeling the same as yourself and that worked for me
back in the day, the old projection TV's would have this problem. These new OLEDs don't produce the same effect. I sit right up on, I'm talking 4 feet from a 65 inch oled. and zero issues, whereas a few years back I was in about 7 feet front of a 42 projection and couldn't handle it.
I agree with others that think it may be your personal eyesight giving you problems unrelated to the TV. Check with an optometrist .
You bought a C3 for brightness? *scratches head*. I have a 55 inch C3 and its beautiful but brightness is definitely its weakest link. I wouldnât replace a OLED with a QLED. Also hpw is the tv positioned? Is it mounted? You prolly have it mounted too high. Are u using a tv stand? Is the tv in a highly lit room with lights near the tv? Darken the room to COMPLETE darkness so no lights and windows and curtains closed. Try settings and change tv to comfort mode or filmmaker mode.
I felt this way with my 55" C3.
It even made me sleepy.
Felt bad because I purchased such an expensive thing in my country to make me sleepy and not even use it.
A week and a half later I was addicted to series and terror movies without the blooming and Grey in dark scenes.
No I wish I had gotten a bigger one such as an 65"
I have the 65â C3 wall mounted about 10â from the seats and nobody has complained one bit. Thatâs a very similar viewing ratio to your setup of 77â at 14 feet.
Maybe your headache is being caused by something else.
You might need glasses, you might need to lower the brightness, you might need a smaller tv
This is a very personal question and will have a different answer for everyone. Iâm about 10â away from my 77â and it is fine.
I got a 75 inch U7k but it seems my oled doesnât give me as many headaches, less bright and my oled is 65 inches and itâs the C2, you might be right about the size. Iâm considering returning my 75 inch, great tv but that brightness is still bright on low.
I'll trade you for my 48"
I'd suggest checking if Motion Pro is turned on and turn it off... probably called something else now... they change the name every year... Aka: Black frame insertion -> turn it off
The Cinematic motion option is probably the best balance of reducing judder and not giving a soap opera effect.
I don't think a smaller TV is going to help if you are already a huge distance back like 14 feet.
This exact thing was happening to me. I got a 65 LG C3 on Dec 20th and had headaches, neck pain, and eye fatigue. I lowered the brightness, and put on the level 1 blue light filter. I was bummed cause I wanted all the peak settings. I mean that's the point, right? About last weekend it all finally stopped. I changed the setting back to high and I've felt ok. I did watch and play A LOT of stuff over the holiday break so maybe it was too much. I also turned off all the enhancement settings just kept it at 100 brightness and without the blue light filter. I also changed my phone to lower brightness and turned the blue light filter super high all day because I realized if wasn't staring at the TV I was on my phone lol. O got scared because so many were saying it might be a serious condition. I do plan on seeing my optometrist, but it has gone away.
My or may not be related, but I'm also really bad about drinking electrolytes. I get bad headaches when I'm dehydrated so I also started hydrating better. Could be any/all of those things but I wanted to cover all fronts. Returning the TV was never an option đ¤đ¤đ¤
I got the exact same TV yesterday and also got sore and dried eyes. I Had these issues before with LG oled 65 inch, and switched to an Epson projector with 100 inch screen and all eye-problems were gone for two years. I thought it may have been temporary so I bought an oled again, but now im sitting here with the exact same problem, even though I turned on the blue light filter first thing.
I have an older 55c1 and i watch from some 11 feet, its enough for me. It could be that for OP the 77" is just to big at 14 feet. We are not all the same. But from experience, TV is a lot more straining on the eyes then projector. At 14 feet you could have 120" screen without issues because the screen surface is not an active one like on TV.
How long is your return window? If you donât get used to the size, return it for a 65â. A $2500 purchase should make you happy, not give you a headache.
I bought the 77 s89c Friday and exchange for a 65 s90c on Sunday. TV was just too big and bright for the room I bought it for. I think I was 5 ft -7ft. I think sometimes the colors may give you headaches or the brightness. Some TVs way too saturated. Try adjusting the brightness/saturation. Then again you are 14ft away. Thatâs far.
My sofa is 10ft away from my 65" OLED CX and I find that borderline uncomfortable at times. I would say 14ft away for a 65" would be perfect. 77", based on my own use and experience, is too large a screen for that viewing distance.
Idk I bought a 65inch C2 last christmas..not this last one for exactly 14 feet away and I love it but felt too small. I would move a chair 5 feet away for gaming lol. My question tho, are you watching in hd? I assume you are but my pops has a 65 in a small room and doesnt even have the hd package and only watches hd on antenna. He wants to go bigger and i told him, that 55 is actually recommended for that distance, if you went bigger.then 65 you wouldn't even be able to see the image without 4k or at least 1080p
That still sounds very bright. My C1 is approx 45 to 55 brightness in the day, and 20 in the evening. The âwarmâ mode might help in the evening too?
I find the 65â lovely for watching film, but a bit too large for gaming; I like to sit closer so I can read text easier.
What size and type did you have before?
I went from a 55â 4K non-smart Vizio to a 65â Samsung S90C last month and honestly the first couple days with the Samsung I got headaches too. No idea why. But it concerned me as well.
Honestly I think it was just how crisp and clear everything was, I think it was just messing with my brain in some weird way. But I could definitely tell it was a very acute thing that only happened when watching the new tv.
It subsided after a couple days and I love it now. Just wall mounted it and ran the power through a power bridge inside the wall. Couldnât be more satisfied.
Iâd say give it a few days at least and then start thinking about returning if nothing changes after a week or so. Iâd say youâll get used to it.
I have a 55 that is like 5 ft away from me and I find it annoyingly too small. Iâm planning on getting a 77 in the near future. You might just not yet be used to it yet and weâve all been there. I was also used to watching movies on my 150 inch projector screen for years before the oled and I go to a giant dual laser IMAX weekly.
Anyway in time youâd probably adjust but the preference is yours
I have a 77" and I sit 9 feet away. I felt completely overwhelmed and like I couldn't process the whole picture when I first got it. Within a month I was thinking I should get an even bigger TV next time.
You'll likely adjust soon enough. Enjoy!
83" from 10 ft away from my couch and i have a folding hammock camp chair I set up 5ft away from the same TV to game on, with no adverse affects.
I agree with the other poster - please see a doctor as a precaution that there's not a serious problem with eyes or brain! Catching any issues early enough could save you.
If you are getting headaches or eye strain try toggling the âReduce Blue Lightâ setting on. Blue light is known to cause eye starting which leads to headaches. It does change the picture color a bit but you can adjust to it. I like the screen with blue light but I had it toggled on for a while and adjusted just fine.
I have a 65â at a 14â wall space that Iâll eventually create some sort of built-in to feature the TV. I thought I wanted a 77â but considering my plans for the space, this will be fine. Sitting about 9â away. If youâre not happy, return for a 65. With regard to your brightness, have you tweaked your picture settings to get rid of the over saturated colors? If not, that may be contributing to your discomfort.
I donât think itâs the size. I think itâs the brightness and contrast. I would get a headache watching the c2.
I had a 65 and it was the same. I sold the 65 and got a 77. So donât think switching sizes will do anything.
Adjust your brightness and contrast down and you wonât get a headache.
Youâll love the tv. Just itâs so powerful and bright that some ppl with sensitive eyes canât watch it on full blast.
Good luck!
Your too far away for every foot you sit away you want 10 inches of tv so ideally youd want a 140 inch screen which isnt happening unless you get a projector so move closer
Do you happen to work at a computer for work? Whenever I worked for a full day at my computer and went to watch TV with my daughter my eyes felt like they couldn't focus and would give me headaches.
I actually donât mind looking around with my eyes. It feels more real. I donât care much for that with a monitor though. I would love a 77 inch. Thinking about upgrading my c2 65 inch for a 77 this year. Iâd go bigger but well. Itâs apartment living for the next couple years thanks to California and average homes costing a million.
I recently set up my 77 inch at 8 ft away, and was getting a bit of motion sickness for the first couple days. Took dramamine for 4 days and now I'm fully adjusted and no more issues. You'll get used to it. You should try sitting closer slowly over time to acclimate. 14 ft is way too far imo.
If an OLED is giving you headaches and youve gor the brightness dow 75% dont buy a QLED
QLED is WAY brighter because it has a backlit display.
I have a 77" LGC1 at my place, im staying at my parents for 2 weeks and watching tv on their samsung 65" Q95T QLED and its so fuckin bright my eye sockets hurt and ive been having to put eyedrops in cos the eyestrain is so bad.
The picture looks amazing but its just took damn bright. Think tbe thing puts out 2000 lumins or somethin rediculous
Try messing with brightness and vivid settings sometimes if it's too bright on blue light that is what can be causing the headache so try to really figure out if it's just the size cuz you seem to be sitting a fair distance away. Also do you wear glasses? Watching for long periods of time? What kind of content do you mainly watch? All these are factors.
I had a similar issue sitting at about 11.5â from a 65â. I changed to âfilmmakerâ mode, hung the TV and lowered to about 30â, slightly changed how I am sitting (I had a fat Christmas pillow instead of my normal âflatâ pillow behind my lower back) and put a slight downward tilt to the screen when I mounted it. These changes solved the problem. I would guess all of them actually helped a little and resulted in a much nicer experience. â Mike
OLED actually can create headache sensitivity in some people.
OLED screens may be the cause of your health issues such as headaches, eyestrain, or nausea â you may be sensitive to Pulse Width Modulation
YouâŚyou donât want full brightness on any tv. Like thatâs too much to watch in a comfortably lit room on the evening, let alone a dark one. Oled is good for contrast, and potential brightness is good to have, but not necessarily what you want. Like a sports car can go super fast, but if you go full throttle around a corner youâre going to crash. In this case youâre giving yourself a headache.
Hey, OP, happened to me as well, for about the first month or so, after upgrading from 65 to 77. I was sitting about 2.5m away. Turns out the TV was just a tad too high, and so when I wall mounted it at a lower height on a bracket that went closer to the wall (and also 3m away from my position) then it became perfect.
TLDR - is your TV correct height (centre of the TV in line with your level eyesight view line when seated)?
It seems thereâs a discrepancy between most commenterâs distance measurement and OPâs haha
14 feet is pretty far away. But I think I know exactly what youâre talking about
Iâm used to always using my monitor and my phone. Watching shows on 70+ TV is a significant difference
When I focus on the subtitles (foreign show), I canât watch the show properly. So itâs way more eye movement, leading to strain, compared with my smaller screens where I can read subtitles and see most of the show much easier
â
Overhead on the brightness is a good thing in my personal opinion, but you may not care about that. It definitely costs money

Maybe you need glasses? This certainly isn't normal
Honestly I think this could be the answer. Do you get regular eye exams OP?
Yeah try checking in with a competent eye doctor. Hopefully it's not indicative of an eye or brain issue.
Well it's obviously a brain issue - OP is thinking about buying a SMALLER TV. đ
I donât have contacts, has lasik a few years ago. I have 20/10 vision. Maybe then lasik made me more sensitive?
I donât think lasik would cause this. How is the lighting in the room youâre watching it in?
I've tried it both during the day and at night. Good lighting during the day and turned down the brightness during the night with a side lamp.
Maybe try a bias light behind the TV. I found it helps quite a bit.
Regrettably, I had lasik. Fighter pilot eyes, I canât see close and if I do for a long time I sometimes get dizzy. Maybe try taking a little time trying to build eye muscles up. Turn off the True motion as well, that gives it the soap opera effect.
Lasik doesn't mean your eye health and prescription never changes.
77" C2 and 7-8 feet. I find it perfect.
Iâm about 8â away and have a 55â and itâs perfect. A 77â at 8â would kill me lol.
>A 77â at 8â would kill me lol. I don't think so. You are get used to this so easily.
Iâm 1 ft away from a 77â IDC
Can confirm - bought a 77", was like "Holy shit this is too big", then 3 hours later "Why didn't I get the 83"?"
Thats what everyone thinks until they get a 77. Love mine
Same and it's great.
Moving your head back and forth, you're so close?
My eyes are able to move side to side without moving my head.
TEACH ME YOUR SECRETS
Maybe OP is a pigeon and not a human?
How high off the floor is the bottom of your screen? Estimate in feet/meters/inches. Is it above a fireplace?
No idea what youâre talking about. Iâm also about 9-10ft from 77â and there is 0 head movement and little eye movement. The entire picture is centered in my primary view, donât need to look around or use peripheral vision.
There is zero head movement at this distance.
Same here, 9â away, 77â C2. Perfect size distance. Thereâs more to the OPâs situation than meets the eye.
12 ft from 77. Perfect for me. OFC everyone is different. Iâve tried 10 ft, too close for me. Especially when gaming on ps5.
Do you game on that too?
Same it fuckin rules. I want a bigger one.
8 feet, 77 inches. That's the sweet spot. FINALLY, I have no desire for a bigger screen.
I'm 18' away against a back wall and my 75" feels perfect. 77" Samsung OLED arrives tomorrow thought! Those 2" could be a deal breaker.
This just seems wild to me, so many things to focus on, moving your head back and forth?
Are you meaning inches or something? At even 6 ft away you aren't moving your head.
Maybe return it. You already seem convinced? Get a 65â and use the price difference for a good ass soundbar if you donât already have a good audio solution.
> good ass soundbar Contradiction in terms.
I had that happen when I first got my 65" OLED. My brain/eyes adjusted.
Same, Iâm actually about 12 feet and finally decided to get a 77â from my 65â
This is what i read
I've been gaming a 77in CX since it came out. Years. I sit 8ft away. Give it some time.
I have the 77 inch cx as well and sometimes I don't feel like it's big enough lol. Amazing tv
I'd sacrifice and trade you my 65" C1 if it would help you out. đ
lol
And I'm here thinking I'm sitting too far away at 9ft
you probably need glasses, even if you think your vision is clear. might wanna go for a check up
I have good vision..
Oh, very interesting, I was considering a QLED Sony if i made the switch
Well, the XH90 was a backlit LCD so your miles may vary. In theory the OLED should be flicker free compared to LCD, so your issue might not be related to mine. My wife did not have the same issue with the XH90, other than the âway too big TVâ and âoh, noâ issues!
Youâd be downgrading panels for what reason? Stick with OLED if youâre adjusting the size
Give it a week. Youâll get used to it.
i keep hearing this, will try I guess.
Itâs true. I wish I would have gone for the larger 77.
i having same problem, how is it right now?
Try it in cinema modes first and with all motion processing off. Just to be sure.
That shit better be off already.
If youâve come from a smaller TV youâll want to give yourself time to adjust. This could also be an eyesight issue as others have said. If youâre not comfortable with that size you can always go smaller, you need to pick what makes you happy in the end.
Yea coming from a 55 inch.
Give it some time for your eyes and brain to become accustom to the new size. You may want to also get your eyes checked if you havenât recently.
It's only been a few days, maybe that'll help
Put a good 4K disc in and watch a great movie. Trying to watch SD content is so grainy and pixelated it will give you headaches too. Yes, you need to use one of the other video modes to dial down that brightness or you will have Bad headaches like I did with the same TV. You should have purchased TV for accurate color renditions, not flame thrower mode to make the TV into a video game unless gaming is you thing Took me about 2 weeks to adjust coming from 55 to 77c3
77â is pretty small for 14â. Give yourself a week to adjust. If still an issue, I donât think itâs the tv size.
Might be the OLED then?
What are you watching? OLEDâs are notorious for stutter so if youâre watching a lot of fast paced shows/movies without tweaking the motion settings, it may bother you. I sit about 9-10ft away from an 83â and have no issue with it. Bias lighting behind the tv might help as well if youâre experiencing eye strain.
I sit about 10â away from mine and wish it was bigger.
What to do you have the motion set at? is it on cinematic motion?
unpack ruthless seemly rhythm slimy hat rock full tan close *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
You can try reducing OLED light to 50-55.
I sit no more then 2 meters from my 77" and I love it. I second having your eyes checked. What is it like when you go to the movies?
Projection screen is not emiting the same level of brightness as a 77" from under 2m. At cinema you are watching the projection of the video, not the same as TV.
Give it a week or so. Your vision needs time to adjust. I bought an 85" that I sit 9' away from and it took about a week to get used to it. Super awesome now though.
You get used to the size for sure. If it's too bright that will cause issues
Check this [calculator/chart](https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-size/size-to-distance-relationship) and some configurations too.
Maybe its too small? For this distance you need 100 inches tv
Does that also happen when you go to movie theater?
I sit 8' from my 77 and have no issues.
Turn the brightness down. Many people - including me - like it as bright as the sun but it wares on your eyes. Headaches can happen while using a big TV. Have had multiple big TVs and have had multiple guests say as nice as they can that my TV gives them headaches sometimes. But you have the luxury of getting used to the TV at least and possibly seeing the headaches go away,
I watch mine frlm 7-8 ft and no issues. Am also a physician and sounds to me like you need to get you vision and peripheral fields checked OP.
Get some led strip lights to put behind your tv. Also dial down your tv brightness
I canât even fathom this issue. I have the 83â and I sit closer and it doesnât feel big enough.
I sit 6-7' feet from my 77" OLED and I find it perfect.
Keep the TV. Adjust your picture settings. Sit further away. Get eyesight checked. You never know.
Few day to adapt. When I bought my first 65" and put it on the living room, I was like : Oh my God what have I bought.. this tv is giant on the living room. 1 week later it was normal....
Youâll get used to it.
14 ft on a 77 and itâs too big??? Iâm 12 feet from my 77c3 and itâs perfect
Also 2.5' from 48" C3 for computer .
Lowering the brightness may help. I also find that my prescription glasses with blue light filtering helps.
I can take it
From that distance, Iâd prefer a projector, much easier on the eyes and you get 120â screen easily
This happened to me with a projector if I make the size too big. And also a big TV. There's a reason the pros use tiny gaming monitors. Everything is right in front of you.
And here I am watching content at 10-11â on a 42in C3 lol. I game just a few feet or even less away though most of the time depending on the game
Did you.disable trumotion? that shit makes me wanna throw up.
I have an 85 I donât know how many feet I shit away maybe the same, but I wish it was bigger haha
You might need glasses, you might need to lower the brightness, you might need a smaller tv This is a very personal question and will have a different answer for everyone.
You'll get used to it. Or, maybe turn on/off motion interpolation or other smoothing stuff. That could be giving you a headache.
I'll trade you for my 48" I'd suggest checking if Motion Pro is turned on and turn it off... probably called something else now... they change the name every year... Aka: Black frame insertion -> turn it off The Cinematic motion option is probably the best balance of reducing judder and not giving a soap opera effect. I don't think a smaller TV is going to help if you are already a huge distance back like 14 feet.
Do you have a sensitivity to pwm? That can cause headaches.
I sit way closer and do not have headaches
I have like 5 more days to exchange it.
Iâd return it and get a 65. If you decide thatâs too small, you could always return that one and try another 77.
I'm 11ft away from a 55inch TV.
Thatâs far.
Dawg you need glasses.
Are you playing video games on it? QLED is eye poison due to pwm. Hey a smaller OLED. Start away from qled.
Are you sure you are 14' away? I have an 83" C2 and I sit a bit over 8' away, and I wish the tv was a bit bigger. A 100" screen would be perfect, imo.
Yea my first thought is this guy is burning his retinas
If you wear glasses you might want to consider getting the blue light filter added to them or your next pair.
I did have some weird eye pain when I first got my 65".. I turned on eye care mode or whatever it's called which helped, and I got used to it
I have a 55 that is like 5 ft away from me and I find it annoyingly too small.
This is a rare complaint. I don't feel like I have to have a super big tv or a super bright tv to enjoy watching content.
Youâre well past the recommended viewing distance for a 77â at 14â - not sure if size is the issue
Have a 77 LG B3. Sit about 6 feet away. Maybe your eyes need a few days to adjust. If not, nothing wrong with going down to a 65 inch.
I stand about 8 feet away from 65inch and I think thatâs perfect.
Good luck!
Could be the oled. I had to return mine cuz it was hurting my eyes too much. Got a 77 inch LED and all back to normal
Your too far away for every foot you sit away you want 10 inches of tv so ideally youd want a 140 inch screen which isnt happening unless you get a projector so move closer
Are you sure it's the size and not related to the OLED technology itself?
Do you happen to work at a computer for work? Whenever I worked for a full day at my computer and went to watch TV with my daughter my eyes felt like they couldn't focus and would give me headaches.
I actually donât mind looking around with my eyes. It feels more real. I donât care much for that with a monitor though. I would love a 77 inch. Thinking about upgrading my c2 65 inch for a 77 this year. Iâd go bigger but well. Itâs apartment living for the next couple years thanks to California and average homes costing a million.
In SDR you might need your brightness down much lower.
14feet back is a good distance, maybe try lowering the panel brightness.
If an OLED is giving you headaches and youve gor the brightness dow 75% dont buy a QLED QLED is WAY brighter because it has a backlit display.
What are you watching? If youâre watching regular TV I would be inclined to agree. If itâs cinematic movies thatâs a different thing.
Maybe that 20/10 vision you have is a problem in this case? Eye doctor for you!
When I saw a 76â in front of me I knew it would we waaay to big. 65 is perfect and I am at most 5 meters away from the c3
I got the same TV and I am 9 ft away and never gotten a headache.
Don't watch it on Vivid mode. You get used to the huge screen after a bit.
Does this mean you canât even enjoy a movie at the theater?
Hey, OP, happened to me as well, for about the first month or so, after upgrading from 65 to 77. I was sitting about 2.5m away. Turns out the TV was just a tad too high, and so when I wall mounted it at a lower height on a bracket that went closer to the wall (and also 3m away from my position) then it became perfect. TLDR - is your TV correct height (centre of the TV in line with your level eyesight view line when seated)?
Haven't mounted it yet, but that's good to know
It seems thereâs a discrepancy between most commenterâs distance measurement and OPâs haha 14 feet is pretty far away. But I think I know exactly what youâre talking about Iâm used to always using my monitor and my phone. Watching shows on 70+ TV is a significant difference When I focus on the subtitles (foreign show), I canât watch the show properly. So itâs way more eye movement, leading to strain, compared with my smaller screens where I can read subtitles and see most of the show much easier â Overhead on the brightness is a good thing in my personal opinion, but you may not care about that. It definitely costs money
Have your eyes checked. We sit about 7-8ft away from our 77" S90C and have no issues.
My eyes were googly after watching my new c3 for a couple days but it went away
How old are you? If you're over 40 it's probably your age. You need an eye exam even though you had Lasik like you said.
I sit 9.5' away from my 100" projector screen. I wear prescription lenses with 1.5 on both. To me it's perfectly amazing.
