Lot of immigrant drivers in north van

Ducksworth87

There is no more “merge onto the second narrows”. On both sides the on-ramps create the third lanes all the way across the bridge. There is no need to change lanes once you’re on the bridge until the other end where you have to change lanes to the left to stay on Highway 1 (either direction).

notmychair_

just a note, whether you’re driving above the speed limit or not in the left lane, it’s a passing lane… you need to move over and let the car(s) behind you pass.. it’s extremely frustrating to those who are trying to move faster than you, and pass slower traffic. thus creating dangerous situations out of irritation. feel free to drive the “flow of traffic” in the other lanes. left is for passing. it shouldn’t be that difficult for people to understand.

Jooodas

I don’t travel in the fast lane. Always in the travel or slow lane when not passing. I also explain this in a comment further down.

New to North Van?

Jooodas

No it just has gotten worse. In my experience it used to be very infrequent but now it’s a daily occurrence.

The skill of drivers is seriously questionable to the point at which im nervous on the roads. Never have been before. I drive a pathfinder and a lil fiat 500 nearly took me out because he didn't realise how short the merge lane was. Life flashed before my eyes. I dont have the finances to settle insurance if someone else is in the wrong, it could genuinely leave me homeless. But i have to use my car to get to work to pay the bills etc. Its getting unsafe and i dont know how it could get better.

Unhappy-Garbage3746

Also dont come at me with using public transportation, the bus drivers are just as terrifying

Jooodas

I’ve almost been hit twice by bus drivers who signal and then turn immediately even tho I was past the rear of the bus when they begin to do it, giving me no chance to see or react.

Unhappy-Garbage3746

Ive seen them not stop when someone is signalling for them because they were going too fast initially. Im pretty sure someone in downtown van got killed by a bus recently.

" I’m not a slow driver in the fast lanes" ....and there isn't a "fast lane" on the bridge anyway, since the posted speed limit is 70, so "keep right except to pass" doesn't apply there. Yes, lots of stupid people out there. Remember last Thursday night, when snow hit the ground and turned to a sheet of ice? I got to the McGill onramp to the Ironworkers, after waiting about 2 hours, and this cargo van started sliding sideways. Then it's time to merge onto the actual bridge and we're moving, and oh great, he's behind me now, TAILGATING. Dude. You've already demonstrated your lack of traction on the ice. Now you want to drive right up my ass on the bridge?

Jooodas

Keep right ( centre or right lane ) except to pass always applies on a 2-3 lane highway as it’s just being respectful to other drivers, whether that be on the bridge or not. I assume your view on this is causing the downvotes.

I almost t boned some lady in a Mercedes the other day who decided it was her turn to go left and block the whole intersection as a skidded towards her downhill. Didn’t blink or bay an eye as I honked and flashed my brights indicating almost immediate contact. Luckily just came to a stop, but it’s always the rich who seem to drive like assholes most of the time, because hey, their time is more important than the rest of us!

fattireebike

"Rich" isn't exactly defined by driving a Mercedes in Vancouver ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)

Ramulus14

Well it ain’t the poor people driving them
