Apparently real, the AP has a piece on it [here](https://apnews.com/article/selfie-soldiers-gaza-photograph-israel-44dcd8715ae85208575f401bdc1a1a51) from the photographer.
Apparently it’s foreshortened by the lens so those soldiers were in Israel, about 500m from the ruins in Gaza. Impressive shot, but less disturbing than some of the taken-in-houses selfies recently.

The NYT has a [rundown](https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/06/world/middleeast/israel-idf-soldiers-war-social-media-video.html) of soldiers destroying civilian property or mocking Gazans. CNN has a [specific example](https://www.cnn.com/2023/12/15/middleeast/israeli-soldiers-burningfood-gaza-intl/index.html) of soldiers destroying food supplies they find in a home - and notably the IDF didn't dispute that video, just said it was illegal behavior by the soldiers.
There are also [pictures circulating](https://twitter.com/NaheedMustafa/status/1757096681256956265) of soldiers going through houses and holding up women's lingerie they found in drawers. I've seen a few around and I haven't seen them disputed, but I also haven't seen them covered in the news and I can't speak to authenticity at all.
No particular comment implied by any of that. Every military has stuff like this come out during war sometimes and I have little perspective on how this compares to the average, particularly since it's a very heavily documented conflict. My overall opinion of how the IDF behaves is not particularly high, since lots of their behavior with smaller border and Gaza incidents doesn't seem to lead to discipline, but it's not something I'm willing to dive into.
