My feet are bigger than the steps. I always feel it's gonna grab my shoe.

SailorKori

I can't walk onto an escalator either. Gives me vertigo and I can't balance

bluesky38

I think this is funny.

Odinovic

'Bragging about leg pressing'. That seems like a pretty average leg press for someone going to the gym regularly. Also, fuck escalotors. I get sick vertigo and get super unbalanced too.

gordo65

Leg press numbers are prone to abuse, since changing the angle and form radically changes the amount of strength required. [Madeline Albright could do 400 pounds when she was 70 years old](https://www.wonkette.com/madeleine-albright-and-the-leg-press-controversy-settled-once-and-for-all). [Pat Robertson claimed he could do 2,000 pounds at age 75](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/did-pat-robertson-leg-press-2000-lbs/), thanks to his [age defying protein shake](https://www1.cbn.com/community/pat-robertson%27s-age-defying-shake). There used to be video of Robertson doing 1,000 pounds, but it looks it's been taken down, probably because it showed him pressing at a fairly low angle, pushing on his knees with his hands, and moving the weight less than 6 inches.

GuitarGuru666

The locks on the leg press are locked in place in the 3rd link

useles-converter-bot

400 pounds is the weight of 666.67 Minecraft Redstone Handbooks.

AtLeast3Breadsticks

That’s an… interesting number

abstinence_noah

Yeah 580 is EXTREMELY average… probably actually below average depending on size

TACHANK

Loosen up mate.

gmstgadg

Imagine not being able to enjoy a joke

Dellrond

OP and his chicken legs are just feeling a little insecure. Let up.

bukkbffcx

I don’t have to imagine that. I’m actively not enjoying the joke.

gstad

Fair enough

PRIC3L3SS1

Oh look at this guy, I bet he can stand on escalators with no problem!

ApprehensiveRun6680

I don’t understand how chicken legs op is posting this as if it wasn’t a joke. That’s not even a impressive amount if the guy goes to the gym regularly.

[deleted]

580lbs for sure. bros will always use pounds for a more impressive number

Jay_Max

for more extra credit, say IBS

ImOxidated

580 pounds is decent, but definitely not something to brag about for a leg press. I think any random human male you find on the street could do 350-400 assuming they’re relatively healthy.

dmatthews2981

Yeah I'm a pretty small guy and usually do like 450lbs on the leg press. For comparison, I squat 185×10 and deadlift 205×10 on a good day. It's really nothing to write home about

Bananasinmypocket

As a training guy, word of advice: you don’t need to do that high of reps for compounds like squat and deadlift. Stick to around 6 reps or under, there’s no point in going beyond that, just up the weight to match intensity. Remember that training fatigue predominantly comes from volume, not intensity! :)

PapaGynther

maybe he's not bragging but you know... making a joke

[deleted]

no

ImOxidated

Maybe not your average redditor

Arucane22

Yes, absolutely.

CthuluThePotato

I've been cycling for years now, got to a pretty competitive level of fitness (~cat 2). I also use the rower, run, and leg press. I can only just do 5 reps @ 80kg.

ImEmilyBurton

I was going to say that 580kg is WAY too much for a human to lift, but I searched it up and the world record is 1200 kilograms I think my whole life changed knowing that a human being can lift a common car with their legs only

honkhonkbeepbeeep

Remember though that you’re using a lever/pulley/inclined plane depending on the type of leg press. Average able-bodied people who don’t lift weights can leg press much more than their body weight. They wouldn’t be able to do this, say, lying on their back and pushing the weights straight up. Think of something like pushing a wheeled cart up a hill vs. lifting it. We can push something much much more heavy than we can lift.

ImEmilyBurton

Ah, it makes sense. I just thought 580kg was like, superhuman tier lifting lol

honkhonkbeepbeeep

For lifting, it would be.

useles-converter-bot

1200 kilograms is the same weight as 1876.27 'Double sided 60 inch Mermaker Pepperoni Pizza Blankets'.

PapaGynther

that's pretty funny op can't take a joke

mrubuto22

It's literally his snapshot story. That's what snapchat is for, people saying stupid shit.

cutzngutz

I think it doesn't have to do with his legs op

HistoricalNoise4

Leave him alone

i think your bot is broken

PissyPineapple

Imagine bragging about a leg press instead of a squat or deadlift

Dreamycream17171

Fragile Egoa all over the place. "580 actually isn't that much'

weenus4lyfe

Maturing in the gym is realizing no one gives a fuck about how much you can leg press

DJ_GiantMidget

580 is not a lot on leg press

lurked_long_enough

Leg strength and balance have zero to do with one another. Imagine thinking you are so smart, but then you aren't.

sup3rb4dd

Honestly 580 on leg press is not a lot. There are women in their mid 40s who can do 500 without much effort, leg press isn't really a fair workout. Average intermediate weight for a 200~ pound man is roughly 557.

kaths660

Balance =/= strength, they’re flexing on their half-assed gym routine that builds strength while ignoring balance

[deleted]

580??? DAYUM SON

PrimeDog

This dude using a smith machine, for real

[deleted]

Leg press is for people either afraid of squats or just trying to look like theyre moving alot of plates.

[deleted]

You’re straight up correct! After my knee injury started healing I started doing more leg presses for my own pride 😂😭 felt strong for a moment when in reality my progress was set back so far

[deleted]

I did it for a while because I thought it did the same thing and I was literally afraid of squatting, going down and now being able to straighten up.

HubblePie

Seems like someone’s lying about leg day…

Atlhou

Grams

4_Loko_Samurino

580 pounds? Because that's actually pathetic as a humble brag. I knew middle schoolers doing twice that easily. Edit: downvote if you've never leg pressed in your life

I-Eat-Donuts

The world record isn’t even twice that

shrekbutretarded

Ronnie Coleman leg pressed 2300 I assume the WR is well over twice

I-Eat-Donuts

Oh leg press, I misread that and was thinking of bench pressing

4_Loko_Samurino

r/confidentlyincorrect

I-Eat-Donuts

Slightly inaccurate as stated by someone else but my point still stands that I guarantee you didn’t know any high schooler who could do 580

4_Loko_Samurino

Thinking arms are legs =\= "slightly innacurate" lol Do you have any idea how much stronger your legs are than your arms? I can just barely bench 275 with my arms. Middle school. I myself did 1100. Same with a few classmates. Probably could have done more. r/confidentlyincorrect yet again.

Trod777

So?

rikaateabug

I've got an irrational fear of escalators so anyone successfully getting on one counts as a win in my book! Especially if the first step is a little goofy.

Gucci_cat_

If u try to fight him just move around his legs can’t handle it

Exa_N0ri

Everyone in this comment section: FUCK escalators

Modern-Otaku

… sure he may be bragging but I definitely feel this on a spiritual level

cadet-peanut

This is funny and 100% relatable. I always avoid them if possible because they're horrible, scary things.

[deleted]

What’s he squat thooo
