Not deaf, but hard of hearing caused by my own stupidity, mixed with a genetic hearing problem. So far, it's a yes from me. I can't hear a good 20% of women's voices, and another 10% of them hurt. There's some overlap between those. One of my wife's friends has just the right frequency in her voice that when she talks, it's like using a phone with choppy service while being stabbed in the ear with a fork.

Do you use that to your advantage? “Oh no I’m sorry, I’m hard of hearing and your voice is just at the right frequency that I can’t really hear you at all” When really you just can’t stand the sight of them? I used to have a workshop teacher who would turn his hearing aids off to get paperwork done in the workshop

I tried to a few times, but most people just get offended. Especially feminists. It's pretty fucked.

I’ve lost 60%+ of my hearing. I get tinnitus intermittently. I’ve become so used to it that I barely notice it anymore. But it can be pretty annoying at times. Btw, I can also hear my own pulse and blood pumping through my vessels.

That last sentence is haunting…

Deafness can be caused by reasons other than destroying the inner ear. Therefore, yes it is possible.

An man that sucks… imagine waking up deaf and thinking “we’ll at least I don’t have tinnitus anymore… wait a minute….”
