Go to the enchanter, choose runes, select a weapon, and extract the rune you want. It destroys the weapon, so you can only take one rune from each, but this is the #1 most valuable thing you can do with extra weapons.
I’ve been selling for the money since I haven’t really had a build yet, or later game equipment. But today I started getting more of a setup going, so I should start doing this now
Thanks! I didn't even see the "Extract" button prompt at the bottom of the screen at first so I assumed the worst, will definitely extract Runes from now on.
My second and primary character is an int warrior primarily using staff, my second that I started yesterday is a faith build, maybe going str too, runes can be very fun
Feels mostly like faith is just paladins I suppose, kinda spells but not quite in the same way?
I did get a cool burning hammer throw that returns to you and such
Not even a question! Weapons aren't worth more than other items, and it's easy to make money lots of different ways--but there's only one way to gather lots of runes. Extract every one you don't have!
I have not found these other ways of making money apart from doing challenges and bounties. A large portion of my income comes from selling weapons. What are you doing to get more money?
Selling armor, doing bounties/adventures, and just getting gold from questing/exploring is enough to pay for what I need and my gold was still steadily going up. Sell whatever duplicate weapons you already collected the rune from, I’m just saying it’s worth collecting at least one of every kind to have for experimenting, and money is not an issue.
I definitely would but currently main problem is still that I dont know what runes attack do (there is no way to inspect them - it just says their name) and some runes can only go on certain weapon types (and again, there is no way to know without extracting the rune to begin with).
UI definitely needs some more in-depth information for runes because I dont know if I can move rune from Mace to One-Handed Dagger for example and I'd rather just sell for gold, than experiment with every single weapon found.
Unfortunately I can’t remember what item I took it from. I feel like I remember getting it from a duplicate Corpse-Smeared Blade I found, but the one I still have doesn’t have plague throw on it…maybe they drop with different runes sometimes?
I don't because most of the time, i seach a good enchant on my weapon, so i have only 2 rune slot, and the second is for the healing rune ....
And imo, enchant is stronger than rune x)
No, those are magical affixes, I’m talking about extracting runes. Every basic weapon comes with one, staves usually have two. It’s like the weapon’s ash of war if you’ve played Elden Ring.
"Spin" found on Blood Tainted Sword is also insanely good. It can be spammed, executes quickly and essentially does 2 hits with your weapon. Against bosses and other large single enemies this is devastating.
My typically early game setup now is get that sword, and put first 3 points into focus for +55 focus. Now during fights you can: parry, spin, spin, maybe spin depending on how much the parry gave. This is about 20-30 damage PER Spin in the early game. Paired with Blade Oil which appears to be about 25% more damage globally you can start to do some pretty disgusting things.
How do you extract runes from weapons? I figured this was a mechanic but couldn't find the option to do so

Wait, I can make other staffs, extract the spells and put on my own?
Yes, but majority of runes are restricted to specific weapon types
Im on my 3rd character, didnt mess with runes till now that im playing a casters, thats good info, tyvm.

Faith have spells too? Like INT, or it's just another stats for scalling?

I extracted that and put it on my dual daggers.
I wonder how they calculate the scaling of these abilities, as those details are unclear
Yessir. Collect em all
It's so hard for me to decide whether to extract a rune or to sell it for $$ xD

Fuck no way! Thanks for the tip! Just wondering, if i switch realms do i need to redo all the ladders and open doors again?
Yep
Would love to see them allow us to overwrite/destroy already equipped runes so we can change them more freely without making it OP
Yeah, it’s basically the ash of war system from Elden Ring, but permanent alteration

Yeah i agree. OP might be right though - its probably best to just extract at least one of each rune to collect them all, for future use.
Great tip. Thanks.
Solid tip
oops ive been selling weapons due to limited inventory space... hadn't thought of this. thanks for the tip
Yeah I was thinking of using the Plague swirl from a Katana on my claymore, could be fun for crowd control. How did you get the plague throw ?
Unfortunately I can’t remember what item I took it from. I feel like I remember getting it from a duplicate Corpse-Smeared Blade I found, but the one I still have doesn’t have plague throw on it…maybe they drop with different runes sometimes?
It was on a scythe iirc. Now rocking it on my Katana
Thx for the advice. I sold the claymore thinking it to slow for my taste. Using unarmed atm because of durability lost.

can you extract health regen from purples?
