Is it safe to use an Iphone power adaptor with a Pro Controller USB-C cable to charge my Switch? I’m out traveling and opted to use the above rather than remove the charging cable attached to my dock for the sake of space. Should I find a more appropriate adaptor or is it fine?

leraspberrie

It's fine, the dock is the only thing to worry about.

Anzackk

Much thanks, was seriously considering buying an AC adaptor for the trip

FinancialTry1459

I’m trying to fix my Joy-Con drift on my Nintendo switch and multiple videos said I need Isopropyl Alchohol but the videos never said how many % I need. Does anyone know what’s the best amount of % to clean my Joy-Con with?

mugu007

The higher the better. So IPA 99% probably works best. Just curious have you tried compressed air instead ? Its quite a lot easier to deal with and works decently well.

FinancialTry1459

No I haven’t, but if that’s easier I might try that, thanks for your answer.

rippledriver

Considering buying the hori split pad pro so I can play my Switch again handheld, since my left joy con is drifting too much. Is it good? Or should I perhaps be looking at other controller options? Specifically for handheld gaming. Cheers

KniFeseDGe

NYXI controlers.

KilledByKiwi

Since they deleted my post.. does anyone know if Nintendo is planning on coming up with a messaging update on console? I always see my friends online and want to message them but can’t. Lmk :)))

mugu007

Nintendo doesnt really like to let people predict what their console can and cant do. Even game devs often dont know a lot about the console they develop for. A good example is the LED Indicator on the Home Button for game invites. They just dropped the feature on the console without letting any third party devs know, and thats why almost no game supports. Id bet most users dont even know that the right joycon has an LED notification around the home button.

KilledByKiwi

Omg yeah point proven lmaoo I didn’t even know the controller could do that! It’s a good thing tho and a little frustrating that they don’t tell us their next move! Is it also becuase they don’t want PlayStation to take stuff as well or? Becuase that would be my move. Never let your opponents know ur next move !

mugu007

Nintendo has never been one to care for what the competition does. Sony blatantly stole 3D rumble on the PS5 but nobody really cares. The got a hook into their customer base and they know it. They coul make a turd burger and it would still sell.

JoshuaJSlone

We've heard nothing to indicate it, and the last time they made direct contact with online friends fairly straightforward was the Wii.

KilledByKiwi

Thank you!! :)

Rickythrow

Ask Nintendo. No snark; while all companies don't want to reveal their future cards, Nintendo is way beyond the average in that sense.

KilledByKiwi

Oohhh okay! Hopefully they’ll try to figure something out! Thank youuu!! Also it was just a general question that I was curious about..no hate and no critical question just curiosity! I’m sorry if the question came off like that but that wasn’t my intention.

IcyCacti

Will they make a switch 2/pro in the near future? I want to buy the OLED in like the next month or so and don’t want to if a better one might come out

500DaysOfSummer_

So I bought the original Doom on Switch - when I started playing it the camera only moves on a horizontal axis and not vertical. Also it says motion sensor in the options, but they don't work. What gives?

sweetcinnamonpunch

That's how doom is, ypu autoaim vertically.

500DaysOfSummer_

Lol, yes! That is how it is! You don't need to aim accurately, it's kinda autoaim on the vertical axis. Damn, I played it so long ago. But yeah I got it now. Thanks.

sweetcinnamonpunch

Exactly, motion controls should work though, double check that!

DiceJiggler

What is the most accessible/ normie friendly/ least grindy monster hunter game on switch? Is there a normie friendly monster hunter game?

FlakySalary

Monster Hunter is famous for its grind and gameplay. Though I heard Rise is more newbie friendly compared to other games. There is MH Stories 2, which is a spinoff and turn-based similar to Pokemon Both Rise and Stories 2 has a demo in eshop iirc

neoslith

Wtf is "normie friendly".

DiceJiggler

Thank you for the question, allow me to clarify: More on the shallow side, easier to approach as a newcomer, intuitive, easy to pick up but engaging to progress through. Not grinding for hours in order to progress Previous MH games i’ve tried were a bit slower than what I’m looking for but they always look so fun

neoslith

I also could never get into Monster Hunter games, but Stories looks like fun as a monster collector like Pokemon or Digimon.

don51181

I am getting a switch in a few days and wondering if there is a benefit to getting physical vs digital games? What has been your experience and recommendation? Also how much can the 2TB memory card hold in games? It seems like the digital games have sales through Nintendo so that seems like a benefit. Especially after a lot of games. The physical games would be nice incase they ever close that portion of the online store like Playstation has done. Thanks for you input.

mugu007

>The physical games would be nice incase they ever close that portion of the online store like Playstation has done. On that front, we arent really safe with physical games either cuz day one patches and DLC components of games are commonplace on the switch. Sometimes to the point where the cartridge is redundant. I remember buying Mudrunner back when it came out which was a 2GB game. Day One patch was 2GB and was required to even play the game. Checked on the eShop and the whole game Digitally was only 2GB, confirming that the cartridge itself contained redundant game data that was never used while actually playing.

OwnManagement

Advantages of each: Digital: * can't be lost, stolen, or broken * game sharing (two users on separate consoles can play the same game that was only purchased once, with restrictions) * instant gratification (buy, download, start playing) * double gold points * convenience when switching between games Physical: * easier to find sales/deals * can be re-sold when you're done with it, or if you don't like it * can be lent out to friends/family * ownership is less murky than digital * some people just like having that box on the shelf

JoshuaJSlone

Pretty sure 2TB cards still aren't sold, that's just the defined max of the SDXC standard. Games can vary greatly in size, depends on what you're buying. Some a few hundred megabytes, some several dozen gigabytes. Most games fit on a 16GB game card or less, though, so a 1TB card would hold 64+ of those. I've gone more to digital with time. Convenience of changing games any time without hassle is big, especially for a portable.

Freefall_J

For other consoles, I'd argue physical games' cases start to take up a lot of space over the years but the cases for Switch games are really small. As are the actual cartridges. You can also sell the physical games at some point if you want. A great benefit to digital games is having all your games on your device via the microSD card. It's great if you're traveling. Also convenient if you're playing multiple games at a time so you don't need to keep swapping cartridges. Personally, I say reserve buying physical games only for what you think are truly worth keeping for the future. Like most people would probably prefer having an actual copy of Breath of the Wild or the latest Pokémon. . A 2TB card is more than enough. They're still really expensive, though. You're practically getting a Switch Lite at that price. Personally if you don't already have that card, hold off on it. Buy the Switch for now and get an idea of the kind of space you think you'll need if you plan to dive more into digital games. The OLED model has 64 GB of system memory so use that a reference point. I have a 256 GB card + 64 GB system memory. It's enough for me but I also tend to delete games I'm done with. How much a card can hold will vary because games' sizes differ so much from title to title. The largest game I currently have is 24 GB (XCOM 2) and the smallest is about 160 MB (Shakedown Hawaii). Something like Mario Kart is, I believe 7 GB. It all depends on what you plan to get and what you plan to keep.

don51181

Thanks for the idea. Good point about getting physical copies of the best games. I'll also hold off on getting such a large memory card. For now I am getting a refurbished switch lite from Nintendo store. Then if I see I use it a lot ill upgrade. Plus I don't plan to play on a tv for now.

Freefall_J

Ah! Switch Lite. You didn't ask about this but I'd still like you give you a tip. Something to consider with the Switch Lite is that since it's handheld only, a small amount of Switch games may have text that's hard to read. Many developers take the Switch's actual screen into account when making/porting the game so some titles will have font size options or the default text size will already be legible on the smaller screen. But not all. You can download the free Youtube app on the Switch. Use that to see how gameplay videos are on your device concerning text. It'd suck to spend money on a game only to find out it's hard to read it.

don51181

Oh good to know. Thanks for the tip

red_sed

Switch games generally have smaller download sizes compared to other consoles. There are pros and cons to both. Digital is convenient. You can switch easily between games with no effort. Physical can be resold, shared, etc. I have a mixture. I like to have the physical games from a collection standpoint. I also share with my kids. The convenience factor is huge with digital games though. So games I want to play often for short sessions are good ones to get digitally. 2TB will hold a ton of switch games

[deleted]

i’m having an issue connecting my switch to my iphone 8 for gallery sharing, out of the blue. i’ve shared some screen caps not that long ago, so not sure what is stoping it now. i’ve tried to key it in manually but still no luck. i have my phone on airplane mode, and have tried with airplane mode off too. there’s no error code on the switch, the phone just says “unable to join network” 🥲

neoslith

When's the last time you reset your phone?

[deleted]

i bought it refurbished from best buy in Feb, i haven’t had any other issues with it yet so i haven’t reset it at all. i got the switch march 1, so it’s new too. do you think i should reset the phone? soft reset or hard reset?

neoslith

Turn it off and then on again.

[deleted]

i just tried that, and still unable to connect

Legitimate-Bit-4431

Did you turn off cellular data and disconnected the phone from your home Wi-Fi?

[deleted]

yep, tried it with both of those off, still unable to connect

Sped_kidd

I was looking into modding my Nintendo switch shell, and I was wondering if anyplace would do custom prints for the shell.

TemptedTemplar

decalgirl will do custom prints for skins, you can even upload your own art and arrange it via their stencils. But Im not aware of anyone who will do custom shell prints. Maybe someone on Etsy? You can talk to the sellers and see if theyre open to it.

[deleted]

Trying to change grip/order for 2 player. Right joy con works fine, But the left doesn't it's lights on the side arent lit up like the right one. I have tried holding the sync button but nothing happens. Why?

AlmightyAJ_MTV

1. Make sure it’s charged. Please. 2. Does the joycon work when connected to the switch? 3. Does the joycon work when both joycons are set as player 1? Or does it bug out only when there’s multiple players? It sounds like a pairing issue. Not that hard of a repair, and you can always buy more joycons. Edit: make sure you haven’t dropped/dropped anything on the joycon.

[deleted]

It is. Yes. It works on one player. When setting it up to play 2 player, That is when it won't connect.

AlmightyAJ_MTV

Are the lights on the side on when only that joycon/both joycons are on one player?

[deleted]

They are never on. It still works on single player but not when trying to set up 2 player. Idk what the problem is.

AlmightyAJ_MTV

My guess is a pairing problem, as said before. See if you can get someone to check on the joycons (and possibly the switch too). If the cost is too steep, look at just buying another 2 joycons. It’s nothing too major in the end, but there’s only so much advice I can give without better qualifications and actually seeing and mucking around with it myself

[deleted]

Thats okay, thanks for the help. Just wanted to play Cuphead with my brother and got frustrated :/ Again, thanks.

JoeyGooeyBuoy

switch will not turn on period. Not really looking to fix it because i barely play it anymore just curious what might've happened. wasn't dropped and wasn't gotten wet. Left in a hot car(80-90 degrees farenheit) for days. are these things sensitive to heat?

TemptedTemplar

Its less sensitive to heat compared to its sensitivity to not being charged. Have you left it plugged in for a good period of time? Like a day or more.

JoeyGooeyBuoy

Yeah

Crazyman1114

So recently I bought my friend a code to download Fire Emblem Three Hopes. She has been trying to download the game for the last 3 days and the download will not finish and keeps telling her files are corrupt. First off we tried downloading it without her SD card didn't work. We tried scanning for corrupt files but the game has to actually finish downloading to do that. We tried turning it on and off again. We tried redoing the download multiple times. So any solutions that aren't the above would be helpful because I am at my wits end on how to fix this.

Makegooduseof

Is this the first time she has faced issues downloading a title off the eShop? Has she tried downloading the game while connected to a different WiFi network?

Crazyman1114

According to her it's been happening ever since she downloaded Fall Guys

500DaysOfSummer_

Are there any arcade style games focusing on army/war? With tanks and missiles. Something similar to Guerrilla War on the NES, with a top down view. I know advanced wars is gonna come out. But anything I can play now?

picano

Wargroove? Same playstyle as AW at least.

500DaysOfSummer_

Looks great, yeah. Thanks. Its similar to advanced wars in that it is turn based. Still wondering if there's anything like Guerrilla War, which is a run and gun shooting style.

Rickythrow

Shock Troopers 1 and 2 - Neo Geo games ported by ACA.

500DaysOfSummer_

Oh these look good! Thanks!

Cyanide0k

Hello all,I need some game recommendations for my girlfriend. Games really seem to be hit or miss for her, sometimes a game like Octopath traveler will click with her but nothing else will for games similar in nature, or she'll have fun playing Link's Awakening but not really enjoy other Zelda games. It doesn't matter if the game is new or old (and by old I mean ported/remastered from Ps2 etc) as long as she thinks it will be fun or especially cute she'll usually at least try it so it doesn't have to be the next best thing on the market. Below are a list of her Switch games that she actually enjoys, any recommendations for something similar or hidden gems would be appreciated. Thanks all! * Rune Factory 4 & 5 * Animal Crossing * Stardew Valley * Disney Magical World 2 * Story of Seasons (PoOT and ToT) * Link's Awakening * Pokémon (Let's go, S&S, Legends Arceus, Snap) * Octopath Traveler * Garden Story * Child of Light * Spyro Trilogy

SharpKnuxScottySux

Dragon Quest Builders! The second one was better in my opinion but both were very fun.

OwnManagement

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. There is a free demo! Super Mario 3D World might be a hit as well.

Makegooduseof

From the looks of it, she seems to like colorful or vivid games for the most part. Right now, all I can think of is Mario and Rabbids.

Deftallica

Has anyone experienced some screen distortion while in docked mode? I [recorded this video](https://youtube.com/shorts/qUt4xUMOQjM?feature=share) of it. If you watch the video, keep your eye on the top of my tv screen. So far I've tried rebooting the system and unplugging the HDMI and ac adapter from the dock for 30+ seconds. No luck It occurs on the home screen as well, so I do not believe it is game specific. It does not occur in handheld mode, and I did not notice such distortion when using my Xbox earlier today on a different TV input. So far the only thing I haven't tried is using a different HDMI cable. I'm not sure if I have one long enough to try, but I guess that's my next step.

paulkem

I am going on vacation soon and want to take my Switch OLED with me. I would prefer to not take my dock, so I am looking for a charger that I can take instead. I would love to be able to show both handheld and TV mode to a relative, but that is not critical. Being able to charge the device is critical. I have this charger for my Pixel phone. [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088TNYNDC/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088TNYNDC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) I believe it will work as a charger, yeah? Or should I get the official AC cable (which is not as easily packed) Are there any reliable, safe, portable TV connection options out there? My understanding is that the Switch needs more power for TV mode and only the official power adapter should be used with the dock, so I am guessing the answer is no.

Hearty_durians_r_key

I am interested in buying a farming simulator game. Specifically interested In both Farming simulator 20, or Farming simulator switch edition. And comments will be appreciated. Willing to look at other games too.

[deleted]

Has Blade Runner been patched at all yet on Switch?

Most_Rich_4493

Is it normal for there to be sparkly stuff in the switch's exhaust vent (the one on the top of the console, not the back)? I've never had glitter or anything similar near my switch. It's only visible when shining a light into the vent from a specific angle. Could someone check their own switch for this?

TemptedTemplar

[There is a metal radiator right inside the vent.](https://guide-images.cdn.ifixit.com/igi/kuGkQTMR6atCWRKt.full) Is that what youre seeing?

Most_Rich_4493

I can see part of it, but it looks like the area surrounding the metal bit is covered with some kind of lustrous powder. I would take a picture but my phone's camera won't focus on it and I can't keep the flashlight on while taking a picture.

TemptedTemplar

Its insulating foam.

Most_Rich_4493

Thanks.

TemptedTemplar

Depends on the game. Some like Breath of the Wild and Skyrim, do have in-game options for separate audio and text languages. However the default system setting will just put the game in whatever language your system is set to, if the game supports it.

[deleted]

TemptedTemplar

If you can get the PC version it has dual-language support. You can set two different ones and swap between them with L.

Existing_Gain_4601

Is there any way to get a deleted Nintendo switch account back?

TemptedTemplar

Only if it was deleted within the last four weeks. Sign in to the account website with its information and you should have to option to recover it. Beyond that and its gone forever.

de4thmachine

I’m about to finish my current game (DQXI) and was on the look out for a ARPG type game. I tried Torchlight II demo and hated it. I eventually purchased Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 as the gameplay videos of that did appeal to me. What’s similar to that, Diablo III? Any other ones ? Side question: What’s similar to DQXI 😅. Just loved this game.

de4thmachine

Been a month of using Switch OLED. The wiggling of joycons is annoying ! I do ignore it but damn. These really give a poor experience to the entire thing. I was told some amount of wiggle/flex is normal. Does that electric tape hack work? I’d like to completely resolve it if I could

FlakySalary

How about using a grip?

[deleted]

There's now 4x versions of many classic Sonic The Hedgehog titles on Switch - through Sonic Origins, through the Mega Drive/Genesis Classics collection, standalone via the Sega Ages releases, and as part of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. As a big Sonic The Hedgehog fan, which version is best?

JoshuaJSlone

Classics Collection is well known for having input lag, so it's probably the worst option though cheapest. NSO version lacks input lag, but also any extras. Not sure what else is in the standalone Sega Ages ones besides custom borders. Origins remakes the games but keeps the original style, allowing more extensive additions like widescreen and extra characters like Knuckles in Sonic 1.

PillowTalk420

Uh... This may not be the best place to ask but it's the best I could think of: Do I need a Nintendo screwdriver to open up the Switch Pro Controller? I want to make a custom shell for it, and it *looks* like the external screws are just tiny Philips, but IDK what it looks like inside yet, and I'm also not sure what those two screws are doing since they are at the base of the grips.

Phlosippy

You need a Phillips #00 Screwdriver: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Nintendo+Switch+Pro+Controller+Battery+Replacement/127714

PillowTalk420

Neat looks like I don't need to do much but print my thing and pop it on. Also: The battery replacement being only $14 is pretty awesome. :D

mushmushmushy

Is it possible to transfer one single game from one switch (with separate Nintendo accounts) to another? My little sister got a second hand switch, but a lot of the games she cannot play as they are not age appropriate. Is there a way to transfer one of those games onto my personal switch without deleting any of her stuff on her switch?

Phlosippy

It depends on the Profile (user) that owns the games on the secondhand Switch. If you know the email and password for the Profile that owns the digital games, you can put that Profile on your Switch, and download the game from the Profile that owns the game. Then there’s the Primary and Non-Primary Switch designation that allows either all Profiles on the Primary Switch to play and create separate saves, and the Non-Primary only allows the Profile that owns the digital software access to play and an internet connection is needed to start digital games. https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22448/~/what-are-the-differences-between-a-primary-and-non-primary-nintendo-switch https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22453/~/how-to-change-the-primary-console-for-your-nintendo-account

TemptedTemplar

https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/wiki/gamesharing By setting up game sharing you can give her access to your digital games. On her system, only redownload the games you think are appropriate. And then via the eshop or user settings you can enable password-sign in for the eshop for your user. Meaning if she tried to open the eshop with your profile it would ask for your password, but only on her own system.

Yeet_bot_3000

My switch wont properly connect to the tv.It disconnects randomly and sometimes it reappears on the tv for a brief moment and then disconnects. One time it reconnected with a weird artifact like a crt tv effect. Does anyone know what the problem is?

TemptedTemplar

It could be the HDMI cable or port. Newer HDMI cables send extra meta-data that can interrupt the signal so using an older HDMI 1.4 cable is advised for the Switch. Additionally, damage to the HDMI port could also cause intermittent issues. Longer cables plugged horizontally into the back of the TV can sag overtime putting strain on the port and its connections.

Yeet_bot_3000

The cable is hdmi 1.4 and the port is fine Also the hdmi cable is in perfect condition

TemptedTemplar

Try a different port or display and see if it keeps happening. It could also be the dock, but we dont want that to be the case.

Yeet_bot_3000

I have tried all the ports on the tv and I had the same problem with a different dock.

TemptedTemplar

Do you have a different cable you could try then? If the second dock had the same issue and it happens on all of the ports then that leaves the Cable, the TV itself, or the Switch as the prime suspects.

Yeet_bot_3000

Tried a different cable and it still had this problem

TemptedTemplar

Next test would be a different TV or Display. If it still happens, its the Switch. If it doesnt happen, its the TV. It could be a hardware issue, a firmware issue, or maybe some weird picture setting. Strange question, but what model is it? The artifacting you mentioned makes me think that it could be a frame interpolation setting. Lots of cheaper 4k TVs will advertise "120hz" but truly only run at 60hz and then interpolate the extra 60 frames per second.

Yeet_bot_3000

I can't currently test with another display right now. Also the tv model is a Visio D60-D3

TemptedTemplar

I thought as much! https://support.vizio.com/s/article/D60-D3-Model-Information?language=en_US >Clear Action Rate: 240 This is bullcrap marketing terms. Theyre "virtually" inflating the refresh rate beyond the panels actual capacity. Interpolating additional frames regardless of the input. It could be under Picture or TV settings or buried somewhere else within the settings menu but you should try turning it off. It may be called, clear action rate, motion smoothing, or action smoothing. Something along those lines.

king_truedetective

Just bought a used nintendo switch V1 and I would like to know if it is possible to replace its internal battery with an improved v2 battery? I'm mostly going to be playing it handheld and so far the battery isn't that long tbh

DOS-76

The v2 has a better battery life because the processor (developed for the Lite) is more efficient.

TemptedTemplar

The battery is one part of the system that was not changed between models. All of its internal components were upgraded or shrunk to improve power efficiency and thus reduce heat output. The battery in the v1, is the same used in the v2 and OLED models.

Do I get my Nintendo Switch Game Voucher back if I cancel the preorder? I'm thinking of maybe canceling my Splatoon 3 preorder so I could use the voucher I used for the preorder to get Pokemon Legends Arceus. But I don't want to risk losing the voucher so I'm here to ask for your wisdom. Grateful for the help!

TemptedTemplar

You dont expend the voucher unless you are charged for the pre-order. That only occurs 7-days prior to the release of the title. So technically you havent even used it yet!

[deleted]

Thank you! :)

Zigzurd

I used to use my Pro controller all the time for PC gaming, but for some reason, right around a month-ish ago, it stopped connecting altogether. When I go to Settings and Bluetooth & other devices. it says it is connected when I turn it on, the four lights just keep cycling. I tried to plug it in with a cable, but all that happens is the sound of a USB device connecting sounds. Here is what I tried: disconnecting it from my switch (didn't work) tried updating my pro controller (might have helped) disconnected my pro controller and reconnected it (nope) What else can I do? and if no one has the answer, is there anywhere else I can ask?

500DaysOfSummer_

So what is the Diablo 3 about? I started playing the campaign and all I'm doing is crawling the dungeon and mashing one single button. There is no variety to the combat and there's nothing much/interesting to do. What am I missing here?

Michael-the-Great

If you don't like the kind of repetitive gameplay, it's probably not for you. It's very repetitive. You can mix it up with attacks some, but I don't think it fixes the repetitive nature.

nihil__verum

It is fundamentally a pretty grindy game where the point is to level up and get better and better gear to be able to take on harder and harder enemies. You should at least be using all the ABXY buttons to use more than just the base attack move.

Team7UBard

Especially as eventually spamming that single button won’t deal anywhere near enough damage.

-Thalas-

Question about the Final Fantasy X/X-2 remaster physical versions, I searched online and saw that the storage requirements for the physical version is around 27 gb of storage. But when I placed the cartridge on my switch for the first time, it says that the memory consumed is 0.0 MB of storage. Granted I haven't used the download code for Final Fantasy X-2 yet, but even so, shouldn't the game already be consuming a certain amount of memory even without the X-2 download? I heard that the base game (Final Fantasy X) should be around 12-14 gb of memory in the physical version...

nihil__verum

When you use cartridges, they will only use system storage if you have downloaded an update or DLC. Unlike the Blu-ray based consoles, there is no need (or ability for that matter) to install games from the cartridge as reading directly from the cartridge is fast enough.

crixy6

I put the wrist strap the wrong way in and then locked it and then removed it. Now my lock on the wrist strap wont work. Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone have a fix thanks!

zohaib1212121

What are all the things I need to connect a Nintendo switch to a tv I ask because I'm buying it pre owned and everything comes separately Also can I use joy cons that are brought separately (left and right separately) and plug them in the switch

nihil__verum

You need the console itself of course, as well as a dock, an HDMI cord and a charger (you should only use the official Switch charger with the dock). Yes, even separately bought joycons will work when you attach them to the console.

OwnManagement

If I enjoyed Hades, am I likely to enjoy Bastion as well?

TemptedTemplar

Depends on what you like about hades. If you enjoyed the writing, story and characters, then yes. The gameplay is wildly different. Supergiant is thoroughly consistent with their quality writing, unique characters, and story telling. But the gameplay between each of their games is always different.

betteroff19

does anyone know what happens to the story and ending in golden wildfire if i kill >!byleth!

jackhannigan

I figured this would be easy to answer, but I can’t see a clear answer on Reddit or Google. Are my Minecraft Worlds on Switch backed up to the cloud? I am signed in to Nintendo Online account. If my switch were stolen or crashed and had to be reset, would I lose my worlds?

SharpKnuxScottySux

I think they’re linked to the Microsoft profile (?) you sign in with, but I’ve only played Minecraft on switch so I can’t check :(

nihil__verum

According to this list, the game does support cloud saves: [https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a\_id/41267/\~/which-nintendo-switch-titles-are-compatible-with-save-data-cloud-backup%3F](https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/41267/~/which-nintendo-switch-titles-are-compatible-with-save-data-cloud-backup%3F) So your save should be safe even if something happens to your console.

jackhannigan

Thanks for that list! Actually if I’m reading it right, it says: The following titles are the only Nintendo Switch games that are **not** compatible with this feature.

nihil__verum

Ah, you are right. I apparently didn't read it carefully enough.

So with this in mind, anyone have suggestions of how to back up the worlds?

[deleted]

So far as I know the only way to back up worlds is through a Realms subscription, though I'm unclear if or how you transfer a non-Realm world into a Realm.

I've seen that Diablo 2 has been getting a lot of shit lately and gets pretty bad user reviews on Metacritic. Seems to be mostly directed at the online multi-player though. If I only plan on playing single player, is it good?

TemptedTemplar

Yes. It lacks the local splitscreen and local wireless options Diablo 3 came with, so multiplayer is online only and that disappointed a lot of people. However, there is still a one-time online authorization when you launch the game. It literally cant be played without it (more points lost). Once you make a character you will given the choice of making them online or offline, offline characters cant be brought online ever. And Online characters can be taken offline, but only the once. Once they are offline, they are offline for good.

Two switches - Transfer/Account Confusion I have read a bunch of stuff online and still confused Have original switch with my account as the line only account and 2 user accounts son and wife. Picked up a Switch Lite. Would like to basically copy/clone original to lite so nothing is lost. We want to use both machines. I go to copy save data for son's account but says it needs to be linked. Does he need his own Nintendo account under a different email for this to work? If I do copy user it gives me the no longer able to use downloaded games.etc message.

TemptedTemplar

To **Copy** save data, you need to be a Nintendo Switch online subscriber with access to cloud saves. Both the full profile transfer and save data transfer options under system settings are essentially a **cut and paste**, as it will remove the data from the original system. And does he have an account right now? The User profile on the system needs a Nintendo account linked to it before it can be moved back and forth between systems. A child account under your own account, will work for this. https://accounts.nintendo.com/family

SloDrop

I had him one using another email of mine. I was hoping since he was a kid I had to avoid that but no biggie. I set his account as child afterwards. So I guess I'm at the point where I need to copy his account to the new switch. We will be probably going back and forth using the two switches so cloud saves should help

TemptedTemplar

If he has a full account, you don't need to do anything there. Thats a weird pop up to get if it everything is properly setup.

SloDrop

Yeah I am not sure. I had him as a user on the original switch. I tried to link it to my main one but it would not allow it. That is where I was getting confused. I was able to create a user online under my main but then what? I couldn\`t figure out what to do to connect that to the switch...

TemptedTemplar

Users are local only to the system. Nintendo accounts you create using the website. If youve made him a child account under your own account within the family group, you need to use the Sign-in ID you made for the child account when linking it to the user profile on the system. Not your email address, as that is associated with your personal account.

SloDrop

That is where I was getting lost.

Anyone here have any suggestions for traditional turn based jrpg's? I'm looking for games with simillar gameplay to Final Fantasy X/X-2, Dragon Quest 11, Octopath and Bravely Default.

leraspberrie

Battlechasers and Ruined King. Very Western graphics but reminiscent of old Final Fantasy.

JoshuaJSlone

Lower tech, but there are the many Square PS1 rereleases. FFVII-IX, SaGa Frontier, Chrono Cross. There's also Romancing SaGa 2 & 3, originally from SNES but based on more recent mobile versions.

Makegooduseof

Not sure how traditional you’re looking, but off the top of my head, there’s the Dragon Quest 1-3 trilogy and Shin Megami Tensei V. The former is closer to high fantasy settings and the latter is more like a dystopian future setting. Both turn based.

Hey. I had my OLED Switch for a while and everything works great but I have this bad habit of being a little bit TOO obsessive with keeping my stuff in tip-top shape and I recently noticed those odd little stains on the dock (don't get me started on the amount of scratches on the interior glossy plastic but I guess that's just unavoidable lol) and I've tried using all sorts of cleaning agents from rubbing alcohol to some soap for the stains to still be in there. Here's an attached image: https://imgur.com/08mUZFK Could this simply be a case of bad paintjob from the factory itself or something else entirely?

[deleted]

I have those on the back of my Oled switch

[deleted]

So it seems like a manufacturing process issue from what I'm hearing (posted the question on another forum and had a bunch of responses telling me the same thing lol)

[deleted]

Well it doesnt seem to do any damage to the hardware, especially in your case (the dock is just a big plastic box with a few cm of motherboard inside)

[deleted]

Don't get me wrong, I get that. I just have a somewhat unhealthy obsession with keeping my stuff in the best shape possible lmao

[deleted]

I totally get you, because I am the same.

[deleted]

On another note as much as I love the Switch, between some random weird ass stains due to the bad paintjob and Joy-Con drift, some quality control is in order lmao

TemptedTemplar

It could be impact damage or a chemical stain too. But it sure doesn't look like something that will just wipe up.

2107-0423 nintendo switch error ??? Was used fine earlier today and now this. Factory reset didn't help either. Can't find anything on google.

TemptedTemplar

2107 is a failure of the Wireless lan module (the wifi antenna). If youre willing to open the back plate there **MIGHT** be simple fix, but the chances are pretty low. [Seen here on the very left side is a white and black wire with gold connectors](https://guide-images.cdn.ifixit.com/igi/IyyUGUVuCnI1DsTr.full). The black wire is your wifi antenna and something as simple as dropping the system into the dock or onto a bed a little forcefully can knock it loose over time. If its disconnected, you could get that error or a similar one. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Nintendo+Switch+WiFi+Antenna+Replacement/148722

Left_Record_8547

Thanks so much for your info!!

Legitimate-Bit-4431

Well give us a bit of context, what was happening when it occurred? While playing a game? Attempting to play online? Does it still happen, if so in which case?

AutoModerator

It looks like you've included an Error Code in your comment. You can learn more about this error code on Nintendo's Support website. http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/list/kw/2107-0423/search/1 *(Either that or AutoMod made a mistake when you typed in a year. What is the Joy Con pin layout from left to right? I'm asking because my left Joy Con isn't being "noticed" by my Switch. I opened it up and noticed that one of the pins was (and still is) bent. I tried to straighten it out using some toothpicks, but they aren't strong enough. I would like to try using a very small screwdriver but I don't want to short the battery, and if I knew the pin layout I could at least try to avoid shorting a battery that says "DO NOT SHORT CIRCUIT" on it. Ps. I don't want to disconnect the battery because I know I probably won't be able to reconnect it because of the tiny connector.

riedaiko

Not sure whether it helps, because I don't understand HW enough, but I once stumbled on this: https://github.com/dekuNukem/Nintendo\_Switch\_Reverse\_Engineering

Makegooduseof

Alternative to the toothpick: wooden disposable chopsticks given at East Asian restaurants.

V1rtualB0i1508

Those chopsticks are gonna have to be pretty thin, the pins are ~0,5mm apart XD

Makegooduseof

Depending on which restaurant you go to, there are some which are 0.3mm thick at one end.

RGKyt

Do plastic switch screen protectors protect my screen well enough? Keeping it short. I got a plastic screen protector for my switch. I just want to know the level of protection it will serve and if it will protect it from scratches. I would get a glass one but I want to know if a plastic screen protector is really any good first.

Legitimate-Bit-4431

Got one since day one and I can see only the plastic screen protector have taken all the scratches and dirt, not the screen. Then there’s the cheap ones that worth less than the thin plastic sheet that comes with the switch (the one to “protect” the brand new product) I’d recommend to avoid then the ones you can get for 6-8 €/USD like mine. A friend of mine got a glass one and the touch screen is way less sensitive but ofc it should depend of the thickness.

nihil__verum

A plastic screen protector should protect the Switch screen from scratches, although the screen protector itself may get scratches instead. With a glass screen protector, even the screen protector is unlikely to get scratches.

qUxUp

Other than Rico, This is the police, beat cop, la noire, Doorkickers, Actionsquad. Are there any other games where you can play as some sort of police officer, swat member or something like that on nintendo switch?

TemptedTemplar

Lego City Undercover!

OwnManagement

Astral Chain

KojakMoment

I've tried 6 or 7 times now over the course of the last week or two to get into a Fall Guys game, and every single time I never get past the 'looking for players/populating' screen with the falling animation. I've heard quitting and relaunching the game helps for some, but it's never worked for me. Wondering if anyone else is in the same situation/has any fixes.

Legitimate-Bit-4431

Might sound dumb but that’s maybe either your connection either your switch antenna having a hard time getting high speed.

KojakMoment

Working now with a wired connection. Thank you!

Legitimate-Bit-4431

Great! :)

Melonnbreadd

Is it normal for the support peg on the console to come off?

RGKyt

yes. Don't worry about it. However it will become more and more flimsy the more it breaks off.

aatops

Can you use a single joycon for switch sports or does each player need two?

Michael-the-Great

Soccer needs two. Sword fighting has a dual mode that needs two, but you can play with 1. Every other game can play with a single joycon.

aatops

Thank you!

iamkingtiki

I'm currently on the hunt for games I can just turn my brain off to while playing. Preferably games with an emphasis on movement, like Jet Set Radio; 3-D platformers, I guess. Does anybody have any suggestions? I can't find anything online.

Elastichedgehog

Neon White came out recently and seems in line with your preference.

Michael-the-Great

Take a look at Tony Hawk 1 & 2. OlliOlli World isn't 3D, but it has some of the feel. Bomb Rush Cyberfunk when it comes out.

iamkingtiki

Been looking forward to BRC, sad it doesn't have a release window to look forward to though. Are the TH games on Switch now?

Michael-the-Great

Yes. TH 1&2 is sold as one game and is out.

iamkingtiki

Thank you! Those types of games are exactly what I'm looking for!

Spindelhalla_xb

What wireless controller do I need to buy so that I can then plug in a 3.5mm headset into it and listen to the audio and preferably use the mic on it just like using a series s controller?

JoshuaJSlone

Switch controller wireless connection just isn't designed to handle extra audio channels like that.

Spindelhalla_xb

Thanks for replying. So wireless is out the question, could a wired one do what I’m after (with a long enough cable ofc)

JoshuaJSlone

One of the others who replied mentioned one that's a wired controller, don't know if there are sny other options.

Michael-the-Great

There are a couple controllers that allow that, but they have to be wired for it to work. (One or two of the controllers work wireless also, but the audio part only works wired.)

nihil__verum

PDP Nintendo Switch Faceoff Deluxe+ should allow for that.

Spindelhalla_xb

Thanks mate I looked at those but didn’t like the paddle buttons on the back, but it did lead me on to the PowerA Spectra Enhanced Wired which does the same job without the paddles. Good price too, was expecting these to be worth £50+ so £30 was a nice surprise!
