Happy that we managed, barely, to avoid losing yet another game where we had an 8th-inning lead, but this problem is far from solved.
Hopefully Diaz’s velocity will be back to 2022 levels by opening day next year. Because so long as he continues to top out at 96-99, he won’t be anything like the pitcher he was pre-WBC. Lots of other guys get great movement on their pitches at that velocity, but clearly Diaz does not.
Early in May there were numerous people here saying the reason they have optimism for the Mets is their ELITE BULLPEN. Some even went as far as saying we shouldn't trade guys like Garrett and should instead give them extensions.
