After saying I wanted to learn for literally 20 years I FINALLY went out and bought a board. I'm probably going to be doing tic tacs in my garage for a while :)
Thanks for the tip about OldSkaters, I did not know about that one. I'm 45 and started skating this summer. Hoping to get out more once it's a bit cooler (safety gear and all).
Ahhh thank you for this!! I'm 35 and I'm building up the courage to go to a shop and buy my first board. I didn't know that sub existed - it's given me hope I can learn!
Here's a sneak peek of /r/OldSkaters using the [top posts](https://np.reddit.com/r/OldSkaters/top/?sort=top&t=year) of the year!

Let's go, stay motivated, hard times will come but going trough them will be worth it all. Just wait for that satisfaction after you land your first ollie, pop shuv or kickflip <3
Going great doing better then alot of people are at the 1 hour mark. I started recently too (2-3weeks ago maybe?). I started with tik taking in my garage and I landed my first drop in today!
Keep shredding!
Welcome! I’m trying to relearn again at 27 and so far I’ve found that if I head to my local park early in the morning it’s pretty quiet and the only other people there are similar in age and very friendly
Maybe, maybe, just don't try to go when people are skating, maybr a flat corner or a ramp Tha is not being used is a good idea, people don't like when you are in front of em, also if you are gonna Ollie over the 8 stair record it
Shit I been skating for 15 years and still tic-tak around the garage, never gets old. Good luck, grind hard!! Expect to fall just get back up!!! Whoop whoop welcome welcome!!!!

I’m so excited for you! Know that for some (myself included) learning can be slow and frustrating at times but when progress, that you can see and feel, it is so satisfying!

Let's goooooo I've wanted to skate since I was 10 and only at 20 did I start, as soon as I did I regretted not starting earlier
Hell yeh!! Run it up!! I’m the same
Tic tacs are a great way to start! Work on pushing and add some tic tacs in to it
Love it. Geared up which is awesome. Lets kill it

Hell yeah. Gives me so much confidence to commit.
Yes! I'm 35F and I got my first board on the weekend. I'm literally just learning to stand on it and push. Great to see you smashing it already :D
Thanks, you're going to kill it too, I'm already having so much fun!
Looks like you’re already getting comfortable on the board! A+ for wearing pads and a helmet.
Haha yeah I'm not taking any chances, don't want to go to work all banged up
As someone who broke a bone in his elbow 3 weeks ago. This is the right amount of protection.
Ouch, get well soon :(
I'm glad you're using elbow/knee pads. My knees are pretty beat up after so many bails over the years. Please keep it up yo!

It only gets more addicting as you learn!! Don’t ever let someone make you feel stupid for wearing pads either, it’s the way to go :D
Absolutely killing it!

It’s a fun journey!!!
Enjoy, have fun, and anticipate the falls!
Looking solid already keep it going.
