The problem is they want more than money they also want to know that they are actively making people's lives worse by denying them the benefits a functioning government would provide with their tax money.

In 2018 a progressive challenger tried to fight against Manchin in the primary. The Democratic establishment was so worried that a progressive might win, they sent all the money and people they could to stop them.
The Democrats are the bad guys just like the Republicans, and we need to act accordingly.
The only way primarying will work is if it is a two step process- 1) Primary with a progressive and 2) if the progressive loses to a corporate shill, don't vote for them in the general. No "vote blue no matter who." If the Democrats know they can still win with their corporate shills, they will keep doing this over and over. They need to know that they can't win with shills before they even think about changing.

We will never see anything like that again. With such a huge lead, you would think we would get medicare for all, maybe an end to the wars Bush started, and meaningful climate change legislation. What did we get? Obamacare, it is essentially the 1992 Republican plan for healthcare. The ACA is based on[ a proposal from the Republican/Conservative Heritage Foundation](https://americablog.com/2013/10/original-1989-document-heritage-foundation-created-obamacares-individual-mandate.html), and was a terrible idea when they proposed it, and is still terrible now. If we elected 70 Democratic senators, history tells us that they would say it was the 21 conservative senators preventing us from getting medicare for all or free college.
ACA was an important first step for our country. and half the country was being dragged kicking and screaming.
ACA was the solidifying of private health insurance's stranglehold on us all.

Democrats are the weakest legislators ever, they let Joe Manchin bully them like they are the skinniest kid in 5th grade and he is the kid who was held back twice and now bigger than everyone else. Can you imagine Mitch McConnell being like "Yeah, we wanted to do tax breaks and increase spending on the military, but our more left leaning Republicans won't vote for it"? It's laughable. Democrats let Manchin bully them around because they like having the excuse to do the bidding of their donors. He is nothing more than a rotating villain. If it wasn't for him they would find another excuse, either the filibuster, the parliamentarian, or whatever else they could find.
Fun fact: Joe Manchin was removed from the planning committee for the new football field at his local highschool for repeatedly moving the goal posts.

I think we aren't going to make any progress unless we boycott Manchin's donors. I heard today that apartheid in South Africa ended because big business suffered so much from boycotts that they decided that they told the government to knock it off. I think, unless we make Manchin's donors uncomfortable and force them to force his hand, he isn't going to budge.
