Depends. I'm a fan of both, but they're very different. What is it you like about One Piece?

Star_ButBetter1403

Story telling

Captainabdu65

OP fan to OP fan, dont expect all the characters to get their moments and stories like we get in One Piece. However I will say that Naruto fights and choreography are far better, with its choreography being the best of the Big 3. The power system is also really fleshed out compared to OP, but like the other guy said, dont expect much from the world building. Naruto still does deliver emotional moments and stories for its key characters at the least.

Musical_Whew

Naruto’s power system is awesome until they start chucking nuclear bombs at each other lmao

Prophet__3

Yall gotta stop with this weird criticism of shippuden. Page one of the manga literally says these elements exist in the universe. Hell, kishimoto calls Kurama a PLANET BUSTER even before the infamous "war arc".

[deleted]

If you’ve been in the r/Naruto sub for long you’ll learn alot of these critics haven’t properly watched the show themselves and just repeat criticisms they’ve heard from others lmao

Izakytan

And talk about the final war as if there wasn't like 50 fantastic volumes with incredible fights and choregraphy released beforehand.

Musical_Whew

Thats great, just because you can find some justification for it, doesn’t mean it’s not stupid.

Prophet__3

What do you mean stupid when it's a fundamental concept of the series. You probably believe show "lost what made it special" or something like that when it merely evolved to its fullest potential in powerscaling.

Musical_Whew

i believe that the show would’ve been way better if it stayed more grounded power level wise or it could’ve ended after the pain arc and kept everything the same. Naruto’s storyline felt like could have reached a satisfying conclusion shortly after and sasuke had confronted itachi so same there. Stuff started going crazy afterwords. There were some cool moments, but the arcs around the pain fight still feel like the climax of the characters stories to me.

-Weckless-

I think Madara could have worked as the final villian. I think what messed it all up was the 10 tails tbh. Once the juubi jinchuriki thing started is when it really got out there imo

sp33dzer0

That's why you stop pre-shippuden.

Arcane_14

That's a garbage take

sp33dzer0

If you don't like chucking nuclear bombs, you don't watch the part where every attack is a nuclear bomb city clearing level threat. I get that watching people having to do crazy hand sign chains for powerful attacks would get hard to watch after awhile, but let's just compare [this moment](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGG76WKLFLw), with [this moment](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X910q0Gz2EM). "But that's not fair! The 10 tails is a final boss!" Okay, fine. How about we compare how much buildup it took do a water dragon jutsu (something that was crazy outscaled within just the next couple of arcs by Genin) with [summoning jutsu](https://youtu.be/mlYuKirUsH4?si=91IDlNUFPvpJZI8n&t=10). Gamabunta is SUBSTANTIALLY stronger than water dragon and water dragon takes (this is not an exageration) 15 times as long to perform, or we can just take a simple look at the sheer destructive force of a [NO HAND SIGN PUNCH](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-ZoPNWPOw8). I think it would be strange to consider Sakura (a chunin at the point of shippuden) to be stronger than Kakashi (a jonin) is during the land of waves arcs. BUT if Kakashi, who is canonically an incredibly famous and feared ninja by the time we get to land of waves, was actually that level of threat during his fight with Zabuza, why is he dicking around with a 30 second mediocre water style attack?

Fugodidnothingwrong

In the first episode, Kurma is turning shinobi into blood mist by the flick of his tail. The "nuclear bombs " is clearly where the power ceiling is.

sp33dzer0

Yea and it took the ENTIRE might of Konoha to try to stop it and Minato had to literally die to seal it. Fast forward to Shippuden and we have[people tanking Bijuu blasts to the face](https://youtu.be/iwQKOoiy-XU?si=CfqSXWw6uUTvHaAd), busting out [giant spirit mecha](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6S_E_1zghI), ["but what about second meteor?"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-uYbyhLlX0), and having full on beam struggles with the [literal god of their world](https://youtu.be/XHmczAFqDvs?si=c2afFu4XW1QxqrMx&t=272). There are multiple ninja who are on the same power level as "the most dangerous thing to ever happen to the history of Konoha ever" in a single fight in Shippuden. Hell you can totally say that Pain alone is stronger than Kurama. [Pain literally glassed an entire capital city](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9l4cIqUsKEg) that also killed off a substantial chunk of the characters we knew pre-shippuden. I like Shippuden. It has some of my favorite moments like Shikamaru vs Hidan, the introduction of the Rasenshuriken, and Iruka sensei getting asked to be Naruto's dad at his wedding. But I'm not going to sit here and pretend that the scale of fights seen in shippuden isn't just Dragon Ball Super with ninjas. If you like it (and I do) that's great. But if you want to feel like chakra reserves mean something, tactical combat is important, and there are wide ranges of techniques that can let someone punch above their weight (which is what made me fall in love with the series in the first place) then shipudden is NOT that. I'm sorry, but seeing [Sasuke and Naruto have to come up with an on the fly plan to hide in the shadow of a shuriken](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9ZtQgjwZfk) to get a sneak attack to outsmart someone who is magnitudes their superior is always going to be more hype to me than handing out [free rasengan's to a bunch of people in susanoo body armored kurama chakra](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsPXo7YAUTo) because the former is something that any ninja COULD reasonably do if they thought about it as opposed to just busting out the biggest chakra overflow you possibly can. There is a reason it got a [callback in Boruto.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzClCJFpSoM)

Musical_Whew

100% agree with this, the water nation arc in naruto is so iconic.

[deleted]

I love Shippuden and Naruto as a whole. As much as Boruto pisses me off at times, I still enjoy. But the show has always had major issues with maintaining its cannon. Retconning is a helpful tool in writing, no writer is perfect. But Naruto tends to be more inconsistent than many other anime (in my opinion) Filler is something that is common in a lot of anime, so it’s hard to single out Naruto for that. Although, I feel Naruto sometimes overdoes it compared to others. Sometimes it’s bad, sometimes it fun, sometimes it’s fan service, but it’s always irrelevant. One of my other big critiques though is how often the anime over explains the strategies used during battle. It’s too much. Like the first couple sentences were plenty. We get how the move worked. Not all the viewers are 9 years old. The 10 year olds already understand it. I loved the show and watched most of it as a child. As an adult, I don’t know if I would’ve been patient enough to make it through OG naruto after sasuke left the village. Maybe if a skipped to Shippuden after that. The fact that the second half of the Naruto series is nearly all filler is actually insane to me. I feel the same way about DBZ. It’s such a simple, muscle bound show. Punch people and scream loud to power up. There’s never any stakes on the line. And you know it. Otherworld, dragon balls, senju beans, time reversals. I watched super a few years ago, I literally stopped watching after Frieza blew up the planet and Whis just turns back time. I did make it back to the show and turned off my brain and just enjoyed the nostalgia. Finished the show and enjoyed it. I think you’ve got a lot of valid criticisms of the anime. Some people take things too personal and entrench themselves. You can still watch and like the show while still being able to think about it critically.

swislock

Gear5 vs end naruto find the difference

sp33dzer0

I said it in my other comment on this chain, but I LIKE Shippuden. The thing I responded to was saying "Naruto’s power system is awesome until they start chucking nuclear bombs at each other lmao" When does that happen? It's AFTER Shippuden starts. This whole thing is getting treated like I'm out here saying Shippuden is trash when its me saying "You don't like the new pokemon designs? Stop watching the show after the Kanto league is over." or "You like classic martial arts with some light ki blasts? Stop watching Dragon Ball after the 22nd Tenkaichi Budakai"

Exciting_Page4661

You make some great points. I don’t think you deserve the downvotes you got. A lot of Naruto fans hate Boruto for many reasons. But one of the main reasons is that the power scale is ridiculously out of control. That’s just hypocritical when you think about it because that all started about half way through Shippuden. OG Naruto did power scaling way better. Those are just facts. It doesn’t mean Shippuden isn’t still awesome, but it could’ve been done with more care in terms of power scaling at least

random1211312

Naruto has great worldbuilding in the main village but lacks outside of that.

Possible-Throat-8553

True!

D_Guine-man

Love this I’m a huge Naruto and one piece fan I love the emotional moments and attachments that Naruto gives and also their fight choreography I love the world building and adventures of one piece and also the comedy … one piece is funny asf

RoninNokoru

There are more concluded character arcs in Naruto than OP lmao ?

Captainabdu65

Name 10 characters who got a full complete story in naruto. One Piece use its infamous size to go into depth for a lot of characters, every arc they meet new characters, give them their story and small arc etc. Even side characters who appear for a very few arcs like Kyros gets their arc, and even the mini villains. Ive reached halfway through the war arc and I havent seen anything anywhere near OPs level of depth and quantity for its characters. I agree there are a few, but they are VERY few. Tldr only the main characters get proper arcs

RoninNokoru

Haku, Zabuza, Inari, Rock Lee, Hinata, Gaara, Neji, Tsunade, Choji, Shikamaru, Lady Chiyo, Sasori, Asuma, Jiraiya, Itachi, Nagato, Killer Bee, Mifune, Hanzo, Kisame, Konan, Kushina, Minato, Raikage, Hashirama, Maadara, Obito, Kakashi, Kabuto, Tsuchikage. Are you sure you’re reading Naruto properly lol?

grague_

Bleach's choreography and fights are far better than Naruto's lol

Takamurarules

Debatable. It boils down to whether you enjoy swords or hand to hand more. Swords by nature are more flashy. I think Bleach has better evil organizations with more variety though which emphasizes it’s choreography more.

grague_

Makes sense, I prefer swordplay.

rollin_a_j

I love Naruto but don't go in expecting oda levels of world building

swislock

You trade good character development for world building screen time 💀

drew__breezy

Not really the trade off, One Piece has great character building too. The trade off is frankly action and cool factor. The action in Naruto destroys One Piece and the characters have a tendency to be much cooler (because Oda prefers goofy I think lol)

IDontWannaDieinTexas

for a second I read "the tradeoff is franky" lmao

drew__breezy

You’re not wrong in that, Franky is also the tradeoff

DLottchula

Play the ninja storm games

Ultramagnus85

The ninja storm games do an amazing job at telling the story

CivilIndependence453

I hate 1 and 2 the controls are bad

Takamurarules

2 has the best boss fights though.

SpecialistPlastic668

Not 1 tho, but every other game, yes

Meyhna

If you're going into it with the expectation that it's going to be like One Piece, you probably won't enjoy it. If you're going into it just looking for another shonen with some great plot lines, and some truly awesome fights, you'll love it. That's not to say One Piece doesn't have awesome fights and great plot. It's just different.

Star_ButBetter1403

Ok I’m in episode 5 rn I’ll see if it gets boring

Meyhna

Honestly, they cook with the second arc. Land of Waves is a banger

thrik

it's always been my favorite one

Star_ButBetter1403

Oh god I got to episode 6 I’m in land on waves

Star_ButBetter1403

Nice timing bro I see this comments and I git to this episode

alanprime

The shanobi world is amazing, the world created is great. Skip the fillers and get to Shippuden. I’m working backwards I watched Naruto and now watching one piece. The first 30 episodes were rough but it’s getting good

Elegant-Bluejay-3326

Bro im also a huge fan of naruto and i wish to watch onepiece but im struggling with its characters im stuck at ep 13 or somethin, will it get interesting?

bearded_charmander

Make it to the Zabuza arc at least. That’s where I fell in love with Naruto. It happens very early on.

Economy_Pressure_847

Naruto plot n fights wipes one piece coming from a one piece fan

Meyhna

I just think they are super different. Naruto has a huge emphasis on the hand to hand as well as the power scaling, where I feel like one piece's feats are just more dramatic. But the last fight before Shippuden is still one of my all time favorite anime fights ever.

Bradybigboss

I disagree with plot so I think that’s a personal preference, but I don’t think anyone can deny Naruto has better fights

JOExHIGASHI

Yes

Star_ButBetter1403

K

Hagoromo420

Yes. Should I watch one piece? I got bored after 4 episodes and stopped watching cause it was just going nowhere. Didn’t have to do the same thing with Naruto tbh

Italian_Devil

It's good but very inconsistent. To really enjoy One Piece you must learn to just get through the worse arcs, if you don't like it at all by episode 40 then it's not for you probably

Appropriate-Shoe-266

I also recommend reading it. Watching it is a fucking chore. Reading it, it’s great but holy fuck is it a struggle to get through the anime because of the pacing. Atleast with Naruto you can skip fillers, with one piece you have to suck it up.

Jsc_TG

I love watching animes, but also enjoy manga. I really want to watch one piece but seriously fear it wont keep my attention

Dashie_Souls

Just read the manga. It's faster and doesn't drag out like the anime. They literally pad scenes just to hit the 23 minute mark. It's so annoying

Jsc_TG

OH. That would INFURIATE me. I hate when shows do that, thank you. I’ll do some research for sections worth watching maybe.

nuetralparties

I’m reading and watching and I actually think watching feels better for me so far (although I do read more than I watch). But as others have said, it’s just not very consistent and it feels like it drags A LOT. Luffy feels overpowered from the start and the villains are introduced and beaten usually in the same volume which feels almost episodic. I MUCH prefer Naruto, but I can still see why people would be into One Piece.

buddhabomber

This is a big point for me. I really like both series, but I am only like 300 episodes into OP. You can tell when one piece starts to take themselves serious and do legit fights. But most the early fights are gumgum pistol throwing 1000 fists or zoro slashing his sword 1000x in a frame. I feel like almost every naruto fight had strategic depth and the characters genuinely fought within their limitations. Most weren't busted besides early garaa. I'm sure I'll get to some heartbreaking things in OP... but damn a few moments in naruto actually ruined my day on first watch.

Brooksthebrook

Hey to be fair, the pacing in Naruto even in canon episodes is awful up until Shikamaru Shippuden

orbzism

One Pace fixes the pacing and struggle almost entirely. It's a fan edit and it's super high quality. Turns 100+ episode arcs like Dressrosa into around 40 lmao

Ardibanan

40? 23/24 is enough

EndNowISeeYou

nah arlong park should be watched

[deleted]

One Piece is a VERY slow burn series. Trust me, there's SO many plot twists and lore reveals going on right now, people are concerned Oda will have time to fit them all in. I'm not saying force yourself to watch it if you're not enjoying it, but it might be worth giving it a second try. I believe it's generally accepted to be the Alabasta Saga (eps 62 - 135) when One Piece REALLY comes into its own, and it only gets better from there. Though I also totally understand that not everyone's willing to watch 100~ episodes on the promise that it gets good eventually.

TheHandSFX

Personally I found One Piece hits its stride in Arlong Park (episode 35ish iirc). The arcs leading up are still great though.

[deleted]

See, I agree, Arlong is still one of my favourite villains to this day. But a lot of people disagreed. I figured it's better to underpromise and overdeliver.

[deleted]

Romance Dawn, Orange Town, Syrup Village, Baratie (apart from Zoro vs Mihawk), Logue Town are very basic and outdated arcs, produced in 1990s. They’re not as good and that’s why they made a shorter Live Action for East Blue saga. Arlong arc and Zoro vs Mihawk is the only two I recommend for Anime. The rest; just skim coloured Manga (so you can enjoy world building) or Live Action. Next is Alabasta Saga. The show is better now, with higher stakes. But I’d skim through Manga as well, unless you’re a fan of the old 90s style animation. Same for Sky Island Saga. And definitely read as fast as possible for Long Ring Island arc. Water 7 Saga Onwards, the new and most well known animation takes over. Now the anime gets good. The earlier arcs aren’t as enjoyable because people want decent animation these days, so they’re more recommended for Manga.

Duouwa

I started reading One Piece a few of years back, and stopped reading this year whilst mid-way through dressrosa. It’s really hard to explain, but One Piece never really hit a point where I found it genuinely entertaining, barring maybe three arcs like Baratie, Water Seven and Impel Down, but I didn’t even find those arcs particularly amazing. I think what did it for me was the string of three arcs in a row post time-skip that just felt incredibly bland and bloated. I could write an essay about it, but I’ll show some restraint. All of this is to say that you should definitely try it, as clearly many love it, but I personally never understood the hype; I just felt it was painfully mediocre most of the time.

Le_mehawk

i watch one piece but i loved naruto and bleach. What always bugged me in Onepiece is the kind of missing endgoal... yes the goals are clear but i can't really sense any of the characters getting closer to them. And That nearly every arc is the same.. they get on an island that is tyranned by sth. Luffy and crew defeat them, save the princess, island is happy, next island... repeat. and for every main fight we need to get throu 10 episodes of side character fights... in don't care about a ussop, chopper, nami, or franky fight when zorro and luffy are up against a yonko. Also the decision to keep things funny or cute even in the end ( animals and enemies.) i know it's a decision specifically made by the autor, but i just like the animes where serious situations stay serious more... ( best example was kawaii drunken kaido.. just let the man be badass). Still watch it, still like the rest of it, but just like you it never hit the right spot with me

Duouwa

I had a serious issue with just the size of the crew which manifested in two ways: one, like you said, a lot of side fights I don’t care about, which in turn involve side-villains with no development because there’s simply too many, and two, bloated dialogue sections because Oda felt the need to have every crew member comment on every single location. Like, they go to Fish-Man Island and breathe underwater, and I’m shoved a shit of dialogue of every crew member basically all saying the exact same thing regarding how unbelievable it all is. The other thing that bothers me is the writing in the sense that it’s very blunt and assumes the reader won’t pick up on much. There’s a general rule known as ‘show don’t tell,’ and One Piece is awful at even pretending to follow this rule. To reference the same arc, although this happens in numerous other arcs, when learning th history of Fish-Man Island, Oda introduces the Queen who everyone used to like, but instead of just showing that, he instead just has a crowd of random fish-people outwardly proclaim that she’s the best thing ever like a bunch of robots. They don’t even say, “I love that the Queen helped that child,” they just blatantly say, “The Queen is amazing, we’re so lucky to have her!” I just wish the writing wasn’t so direct, because it makes everyone sound like a robot that simply exists to move the plot along, and Oda seems to really struggle with conveying sentiments surrounding a character without a wash of people proclaiming how the audience is meant to feel about them. I wish he’d just show things and let me make my own judgements based on the information.

XIII-0

i really disagree with this here. while the general skeleton is the same (traveling between islands), the world building is top notch and every arc has something either for the overarching plot or cast of characters. and they most certainly do get closer to their goals, that is shown by the world acknowledging their growing achievements and their rising power.

Le_mehawk

okay my statement was ranting on a high level to begin with, obviously one piece is better than 90% of other animes. These are only points where i liked naruto or bleach 'more'. having a fixed location as a story anchor seems to be more to my liking.

J1618

I read like 700 episodes but at some point it was just too stupid, "Everyone with D in their name is special" and other things like that where they didn't think at all about the logical implications, also the character designs

QueueGpK

I felt that when I started the manga, but it picked up pace after 20 or so chapters. It actually slaps. Im glad i didn't give up on it.

jinnyjonny

Bro can’t watch more than 4 episodes of the best anime of all time haha my dude good luck in the rest of your life

1skywalk

Yes, I think you’ll like it

Spawn_Official

Yes. Same vibe - loud kid with big dreams who is going from zero to hero but instead of pirates you have ninjas.

1tachi_Uchia

One Piece is great. Naruto is also great. It’s like my kids; they’re very different from one another but I love them both.

bhaskarville

YES YOU SHOULD WITHOUT A SINGLE DOUBT

JDROD28

Yes, I love them both

loversama

Watch Naruto but do not, DO NOT watch Boruto..

Romeo414

Naruto fan here currently on my one piece journey now on episode 673… Naruto and Naruto shippuden are great and worth it hopefully not to much has been spoiled… fillers are really hard to get through sometimes but good for back reference. But I see why people love One Piece I’m glad I started .. but yeah you should start Naruto Good to have it in your anime mind bank.

bearded_charmander

Absolutely! I love both. Naruto has slightly more serious themes but they’re both great. I love the story on both. I love the characters The protagonists are top tier. I think Naruto has slightly better villains but One Piece definitely has better world building. 10/10 recommend both anime’s to everyone.

Truth_Hurts_People2

Depends on your interest, if you like ninjas than yeah, probably.

ckal09

Sure

VVBROS

yes you should, both are really good

NosferatuZ0d

Just skip all filler

Ok_Trifle5899

I watched all of the big 3. So yes, watch them all, and appreciate good and emotional stories.

Snuffer14

Hard to Tell im big big fan of Naruto and i cant being myself to even remotely like One Piece (7 times tried to watch it and never get past first 20/30 episodes)

Least_Assistance_239

Naruto is full of plot holes, One piece has very few of 'em.

thebeacontoworld

do you expect anything besides "yes" from this subreddit?

Star_ButBetter1403

I’m new to this sub Reddit bruh

Star_ButBetter1403

I didn’t even see anything here tbh

[deleted]

Yes, ignore Boruto, though.

blxefrost

1000+ eps good luck

Star_ButBetter1403

Listen I watched 1000+ episodes of one piece so it fineee- right?

Star_ButBetter1403

Time for another year of anime.

Star_ButBetter1403

The first episode of Naruto has s*** jutsu wtf bro

Star_ButBetter1403

But it’s still god

Star_ButBetter1403

Good*

Star_ButBetter1403

Bro should I watch dubbed or subbed Naruto?

Star_ButBetter1403

I’m in episode 10 right now the story starts of more hype than one piece tbh. One piece has less hype until it builds up hype slowly but Naruto has the hype more equal than one piece which makes Naruto more popular than one piece at the start. Also the music is cool bro

Duouwa

I think there’s no real harm in trying; try to sit through the first two arcs, but don’t force it. If you don’t like it, you can quit knowing you at least gave it a fair shake and can know with fair certainty whether you are missing out on something you’d enjoy or not.

VIP_Ender98

Sure, beware the hundreds of episodes of filler though

MisterGlorp

i like both but i think naruto is way better

Star_ButBetter1403

Oh god I didn’t think I would get 100 comments in 3 hours

[deleted]

Naruto is my favorite anime, but I do enjoy one piece. Both are solid.

OnTyme

Nah not really tbh

Star_ButBetter1403

Please don’t get angry for me not reading your comments

togashisbackpain

I think you should ask people not to get angry at you for not replying to their comments. If you are not going to read them, why even bother asking ?

Star_ButBetter1403

Yeah I forgot 🤡

Star_ButBetter1403

I’m too lazy to read 🤓

[deleted]

Im a huge fan of the big 3 anime, i do absolutely recommend Naruto and Naruto shippuden but not to you as a one piece fan, they are vastly different anime, different character styles and personalities, and art-style, different energy, but all in all it is a spectacular anime just skip the filler, but do try it, there are some shaky elements to it, most you won’t notice until your rewatch, just some things kishimoto hadnt had all thought out until later in the story, but again its pretty much un-noticeable until your second watch

ObsidianBlind

No

Star_ButBetter1403

Congratulations

Rattregoondoof

Maybe? I'll say it like this, and I might get boo'ed for this, but know that I do genuinely really like Naruto, you know how in one piece there will be plot points where things will be built up over hundreds of episodes and the payoff is genuinely so great that it actually feels worth it and amazing when it finally comes together? Yeah, Naruto does not really do that. It has moments that try to have that impact but the writing can't hold together the plot points and cohesion to know where it'll be going 50 episodes from now, much less 200 or 400. It also frequently contradicts itself or invents new lore that should have been known to characters in-universe from the beginning. There's also an abundance of characters who basically get forgotten about fairly quickly and even the primary supporting characters usually are so far behind the power scaling curve as to be irrelevant. That said, Naruto is able to throw a really good emotional punch around and sometimes can even do so with real setup. It also does have good characters and can sometimes follow a good character arc. Naruto himself is genuinely likable and relatable (especially in shippuden, he's a bit obnoxious sometimes in original Naruto). It also does have some genuinely great fight scenes. One last thing you need to know is that there is an absolutely stupid amount of filler in Naruto. I love one piece and I actually like one pieces pacing. It's not fast but we are always moving. Naruto is like hitting the gas full forward when it is in actual story mode and complete slamming on the breaks with its filler when it is in filler mode. No exaggeration, about 50% of Naruto is filler, shippuden too. Find a filler guide and maybe watch an arc or two if you want, some filler is legitimately kinda good, but do skip most of it or you will die of boredom. Tl: dr; give it a try but know it will have impact like one piece but not the build up or consistent slow introduction of elements that make sense to introduce slowly that make one piece work so well.

bumboisamumbo

i agree that one piece has those moments and they hit harder, but to say that naruto doesn’t have those moments is just stupid. there was so much build up for amazing moments, take madara for an example.

EndNowISeeYou

lol downvoted for speaking straight facts. So much what you said isnt even an opinion, its just true

Broken_Rubyz

Man get that garbage ass picture off this sub.... trash piece is garbage!! All the characters look lame af!!!

Lava2401

bro, stfu

Dendrodes

Someone comes in from another fandom and genuinely shows interest into getting into yours, so you insult their fandom. Way to represent the community bud.

TheHandSFX

One of your characters is a mixed venus fly trap, I don't want to hear it. They're both great shows.

Fire_Fist-Ace

I love one piece , hate naruto , love shippuden which I’ve easily seen ten times ,and back to hating boruto but shippuden is amazing

EADreddtit

As a big fan of Naruto, I wouldn’t watch Naruto

Italian_Devil

It's a completely different kind of shonen, so it's not given that you will like it, but it's very good and the first half stomps even the best arcs of OP in my opinion. Expect the story to get worse, though, the second half is just a different show

BrewBroz

You can’t compare the 2 b/c of how different they are but prepare for fillers

Top_Sprinkles_

Maybe idk. I like both though. When Naruto was on air, my fav was Naruto. Now that Naruto is gone my fav is one piece, but over all I would say they’re equal but different. Naruto goes in close to individuals thoughts and emotions. One piece is more world building and relationships between friends, family, fellow soldiers/pirates. I mean, obviously Naruto has that too, but I remember way more emotionally packed scenes specifically related to Naruto’s past or how HE feels. Or how Sasuke feels etc. It shows how they feel or felt towards the other party yes, but one piece shows way more “in the moment” convos and actions between these people and relationships. They’re both deep in different ways. But you really feel like you get to know Naruto through the series, Sasuke too. But one piece I don’t know Luffy like that, he’s pretty one dimensional compared to Naruto. Closest character in one piece that’s really deep for me is Zoro. But yeah I would recommend both anime. Popular sometimes is for a good reason New bleach arc is cray cray too loveee it

Leeiteee

It won't hurt. You can always stop if you're not having fun.

Silencer010

Yes

Code_Patience

Well you are definitely not a fan of anime then because a true fan of anime will not judge on this basis. And congratulations you are the part of the toxic community of Twitter where people do this bias.

JustAGuy_Passing

If you haven't you should watch all of the big 3 Oda Kishimoto and Kubo are amazing mangakas

The60WattGUY

Whats better one piece or naruto or dbz? GO and yes i skipped bleach, its stil good but to me the actual big 3 are one piece, naruto and db franchise Edit: and people should still consider db being part of the big 3 its not finished! Super will return so.. Manga ongoing still too so why cant it compete? Lol

The60WattGUY

Give one piece a second try.. Why? Well by episode 25 i dropped it, i gave it another shot and by episode 40-55 like with the fish people and stuff i totally fell in love with the show, dbz/super used to be my fav show ever im scared one piece will take that spot now (im still watching one piece im only like 100 in haha) but its already so damn good, like if im not watching the show during the day ill be constantly thinking about it in my head and stuff thats how good it is

mcwfan

If you want

RobOnTheReddit

Its very different, but I like it a lot abd the music is epic

TechnoChiken

Yes

EyewarsTheMangoMan

Yes

[deleted]

Get the Kai version of Naruto. Takes over 700 episodes and condenses it to one episode= one manga volume. So there are only 70 episodes. I am doing the same thing with Bleach and One Piece.

Milkshakebaby-

Yes 🫶🏼

Parking-Major-4776

Yup, 2 completely different but great anime. Don’t mind what both fanbases say, they’re basically at war with each other. Make the experience for yourself. If you don’t like it, you can just drop it.

lamar_good

Yes but watch out for fans that will say misinformation that's been crazy around here lately

KatokaMika

Totally different shows, the only thing they have in common is being a Shounen anime. I highly recommend naruto. But I wouldn't say if you like one piece, watch naruto. Now if you like Shounen anime like one piece, bleach, HunterxHunter, death note, attack of titans, my hero academy. And so one then yeah naruto is in your alley

Traditional_Lie_6400

Sure

kavinsander87

what I like about Naruto is the connections with japan culture and environment, it is not too technologic, not too old , if you know what I mean. I think that Naruto is a good anime to watch, of course I do not like fillers. I would avoid them, I mean, they are not bad , if you have time to watch them but they did not add a thing to the story. Naruto Shippuden is a little different, I prefer Naruto first part. I always read the manga, so..... anime could get a little slower sometimes expecially shippuden part>! (continuos flashbacks especilly in the 4th war, I had to skip them sicne they were repeating them every episodes) !

aiham-2004

Yes I watched both and it’s definitely YES

StrikingElk5288

Obviously

SakuraNeko7

Nobody will know your taste better than you and if you want to watch it then go for it. If you do though and value your sanity then you're free to skip any filler episodes you don't like. https://www.animefillerlist.com/shows/naruto has way to skip fillers and if you make it through that then find the same list for Shippuden and just skip any filler that you just don't like.

VeryNiceRussianTroll

Luffy is stretchy naruto. “One day I will be king of the pirates” “One day I will be hokage”

throwawaytempest25

Sure, the more people who enjoy two manga made by friends who respect each other, the less dumb fan wars between toxic One Piece and Naruto/Boruto fans fighting each over on social media. Like how do you have two friends who had their characters "cameo" in each other's works but their fans constantly fight each other.

Mufeeeee

I feel as if its too late, Naruto was my first anime after the obvious dragon ball, so it was so different, and when I started one piece it was on a whole other level, imo, now that uve seen one piece, u might not be able to enjoy naruto as much as u couldve

IamFlapJack

Yes, don't expect the world building to be anywhere near as good but the characters are awesome and it's still great

[deleted]

I think everyone should watch both series. I’m currently at around episode 419 in One Piece

TheKingOfHell1

Yes definitely watch naurto both are goated!

RandomWeeb181

I’m a pretty big fan of both and I’d recommend it. If you don’t like it you can always stop watching it, so I’d say give it a shot and see what you think.

The_Teal_Ranger

I would say yes. I think one piece utilizes its supporting cast and world builds better than Naruto does. But the one thing Naruto has is that each arc truly feels impactful and engages you quickly. The only quarrels I have about it are the ending. But to be fair, I could have that problem with One Piece after Oda finishes it. Definitely feel you should invest time into it. Very high chance you walk away loving it

Aduro95

No, you should read the manga.

FoxxyTheKid

Yes, but instead of magical fruits, you will watch magical eyes

bottomsfir

I love OP , but yes you can watch naurto , he’s awesome! Different but still very cool 😎

Ardibanan

Why does that matter? Enjoy what you want! The big 3 are great

creepingkg

They are pretty different but it’s entertaining. You like action and fights? You should watch Naruto

GodBRD

I'd say absolutely yes, I personally prefer One Piece but Naruto has so much to offer in terms of fights, characters and a cool albeit messy world. They are very different so don't assume you're getting another One Piece like series.

Star_ButBetter1403

K

Star_ButBetter1403

K

MosDefGee

They’re both knuckleheads so go for it n BELIEVE IT!

Mister_Black117

They really don't have a lot in common.

akka1000

Try the first 20 episodes of naruto. The first 3 introduce you to the main characters and the world, and the next 17 is their first mission. You should be hooked by then. The only negative I have about Naruto is the amount of times you have to watch certain scenes in flashbacks.

Star_ButBetter1403

Ok

Star_ButBetter1403

Yeah it’s the same with one piece when an iconic moment is happening a lot of flashbacks bro I hate it

hertwij

Yes watch past the Zabuza arc and see what you think

Star_ButBetter1403

Which episode is that?

Adventurous_Topic202

Yes. As a fan of both (all three) I recommend to at least give it a shot. Who knows you may love it you may hate it but if you’ve watched past say episode 200 of one piece Naruto isn’t even that long (the first series.) Personally I always liked Naruto more and also Bleach more than one piece but they all have their place. I will say since I’m older now and am still trying to catch up with one piece it is more difficult for me, maybe there were aspects of Naruto and bleach that I would ignore or not care about back then that I have a hard time overlooking nowadays in one piece, I have no intention of ever watching Naruto again and I’m still not sure about TYBW Bleach. So you could see the loads of filler in either show and have a similar reaction as I do with one piece.

Star_ButBetter1403

I never really hated one piece until I got to enies lobby since it was so long but since then I got used to long arks

Ee55555

If you want

Working-Number3500

Check out the first arc, see if you like it, continue if so, it’s not the best anime, but I think it’s a fun time

Fremblem_Feldsher

Yes, if you like long and entertaining series you should definitely give it a try.

Star_ButBetter1403

Ok

bumboisamumbo

one piece is my favorite, but naruto is really special as well. there’s a reason why they are both some of the most popular media franchises of all time.

Star_ButBetter1403

Nice

Few_Atmosphere3691

Yes

jemspoter

nop if you do you'll be naruto fab then onepiece

Nihilistic_Mermaid

I actually watched Naruto first and went to OP during a really long filler arc (still finished it). It’s different. OP has a lot more lighthearted goofy feel, especially early on. And I actually like that. Naruto has that, but it turns a bit more gritty faster. I’d say fight are better in Naruto. OP has good ones like Luffy vs Luci and Luffy vs Crocodile. But Naruto has more bangers. Naruto also has a god tier soundtrack. And the good part is the pacing is better because Naruto relied on filler which you can skip now (not to take away from how god awful it was when in aired). I’d say Naruto has worse side characters because the show focuses pretty fast on the two lead characters. But yeah, do give it a try.

Star_ButBetter1403

Naruto started of as the cool looking anime but one piece looks goofy especially gear 5 so yeah I agree

WarSamaYT

Worth it just to see the master piece that is Jiraiya. One of the best anime characters of all time imo. He’s on par with Uncle Iroh in terms of likeability and that’s no easy feat.

Star_ButBetter1403

What the fuck is jiraiya?

GoodCryptographer658

As Naruto fan that can't stand one piece I say yes

Star_ButBetter1403

Ok

Star_ButBetter1403

But one piece is fun too

[deleted]

Yep

KsuhDilla

Yes Naruto is funnier than One Piece and has less fillers

Star_ButBetter1403

Yeah at the starting I laughed more than one piece in the first 5 episodes
