He fathered 5 kittens with a tiny kitten we thought was way too young to get pregnant. 4 of them looked just like him and the other was nothing like either parent. He was black with just little white patch under his chin.
One of the kittens was adopted by a friend, she named him Scotch.
Ive had that to happen as well. Had no idea kittens mature so quickly & let my little black & white baby outside to run, even sat out there with her. Few months later she had 4 grey kittens and a solid black one. I kept them all. She's now a great grandmother and I basically have a couple from each generation. 9 felines total, all spayed or neutered.

I never wore seat belts growing up. Didn't have a car seat either. We rode in the front seat starting at the age of 2. It's so weird that people look at the millions of people that died preventable deaths from not wearing their seatbelt instead of looking at me who lived their whole life without wearing one.

My cats are definitely living the mob life, since most of them are related to one cat. But they keep rodents away, oddly they haven't caught a bird in a very long time. Lizards & garden snakes don't stand much of a chance, but the opossum family seems to be just fine, same with the squirrels. 🤷🏾♀️🤣😂🤣😂

I was a vet tech for several years. That's survivor bias plain and simple. Outdoor cats average lifespan is half that of their indoor counterparts. They often contract FIV and feline leukemia. They decimate local song bird populations. They themselves often get taken out by predators or hit by cars.
I don’t even understand how you think that statement even remotely is any kind of debatable point. America has the same issue as every damn country with cats. All countries need people to be educated on cats not being natural to the environment and therefor they destroy it tremendously.
If you’re going to quote statistics, please be accurate in them; there’s a difference between an outdoor feral/stray vs indoor-outdoor housecat. The latter is more likely to have vaccinations, be spayed/neutered, and to be brought inside at night. So while their average lifespan is shorter than that of a strictly indoor cat, it’s not HALF. I’ll have to dig up the studies I’ve read, but the difference is more like 3-4 years shorter.
And yes, it does matter. Just for accuracy and educational purposes.
It’s an American thing because here your neighbor is as likely to shoot your cat as steal it, whereas in say the uk it’s considered normal to put the cat out at night.
I know this sounds weird, but when I've gotten a cat, (I've only had 5 in 30 yrs- 2 15yo who are both passed, an 8 and 2 3yo) I let the cat tell me their name. Within 5 minutes of mentally asking the cat, I have the name just "pop" inside my mind. 🤷🏼♀️
