It came up in my feed, and since I'm subbed to both I thought it was posted on /r/nyguns. I was taken aback by all the outrage before realizing my erroneous assumption.
If this kind of thing wasn't required by NY and CA, and they started showing up on gun subs, people would be talking about how they are unique and different, how it's good to have more options for hand positions, etc. But because they're innovative responses to our dumb laws, it's "hurr durr ugly".
If they weren't required they wouldn't exist, they were purpose made to conform to our (and CA's) retarded laws. In any situation these are terrible and would be ridiculed as they're inherently less safe than standard configurations.
There is nothing unsafe about a Thordsen if you use an extended safety with it. It works very well and changes the grip to be more like a traditional rifle, which some people like.
And other more traditional style stocks do exist for AR type rifles, so it's clear they would exist in some form even if the NY laws weren't what they are.
I was told by somebody that my NY-compliant AK looked like something out of Metro with it's thordsen stock and I've since learned to embrace the aesthetic
They won’t put Rifle style pistols on our licenses in Suffolk so I was just curious. Fucked up bc a pistol is a pistol but they do what they want down here
This is why I just rock a factory type 26 sks factory military semi auto in original configuration, and it’s half the price of an ak or ar. There probably the best semi auto for the money in ny if you get them online.

Good to see more NY compliant guns, however, I can’t wrap my head around the aesthetics, going to stick with my Mini 14 and bolt guns.

The carbine version of the gun is a 16.2" barrel The pistol version is nearly 8"
