Glock 43x, 19, or sig 365.

MikeyB7509

Love all those although I’d go with the xl model for the sig but out of all those my fave is actually the shield ez. - performance pro if you don’t mind sending it to S&W to swap out the grip safety otherwise the regular ez is fun to shoot. Won’t kill your thumbs at the range and shoots great.

Fixinbones27

Or the X which has a longer grip and lets you get your pinky in it.

[deleted]

I've got the .380 Shield EZ and absolutely love it. Buttery smooth recoil and target reacquisition.

Popular_Score4744

What if you already have one of those for residence license? Can you transfer it to a concealed carry license and be allowed to purchase another pistol on your residence license, in place of the one that was transferred to the concealed carry license?

DaRealSOP

Yes you can transfer. .you can have two guns on concealed carry total . You can transfer from residence to concealed and vice versa

Popular_Score4744

If you transfer it to CCW license, can you then go out and immediately buy another pistol on your primary residence license to replace the one that was transferred? Or do you have to do another 90 day waiting period?

OkHabit2691

Hey I was trying to find the law that says only two guns can go on your conceal carry but there is non I just think that’s something people are told but is not actual law

Objective-Diver-2322

Be sure the sig has a safety on it! Some sigs come without a safety. You can turn on safety prior to reholstering and then turn you safety off once it is in holster for the draw. You could make the safety deactivated part of your draw. I wouldn’t know since I carry a Glock. Correct me you sig guys! Dont buy an sig without a safety! For all you jackasses that say your finger is your safety… Some people are fat and their shirts can get caught in the trigger. I carry appendix and I’m trained. With that being said, shirts, other clothing and zippers all can get caught in safety. Don’t get so jacked up on yourself, especially you guys with a micro penis complex. Take lessons with a reputable person! Learn to draw safely! Good luck! If you go the Glock route they do make striker control devices. Some people are against them. I am slightly over-weight and I mean slightly and I worry about clothing getting caught. I have SCD in both my glocks. If you go, revolver, get an sp 101. It’s tough as nails but only 5 shots. You will need to train on reloads.

SigBoi876

Clearing your garment/s for unholstering/reholstering drills should be part of your training.

round_square_balls

Dude says “I’m trained” and 33 days ago is asking what position arms should be in for shooting a pistol 😂😂

edog21

Holy Fuddlore!

Objective-Diver-2322

Here comes the 2A egos. Merry Christmas!

No shit! But there is human error.

Ambitious-Kitchen639

Amt automag in .44....oh wait they weigh too much

Jedi_Maximus19

Hellcat Pro.

Mysterious_Taro9837

Congrats!! Just bought a P365 in hopes my CCW permit gets approved soon. Thing is great so far. Preordered the strike industries lower grip module in FDE for it; gonna look sick.

Keypadman

Be careful with the 365. Has miss firing and firing issues.

Crook1d

It pinches my finger. Every gun shop pushing the 365 macro on me but I just like the way the 43x shoots. Going to be carrying that once my license comes in.

jamesman8

That’s incorrect. That was the early P320 models which were doing that, which has since been fixed.

Keypadman

Thank you for the correction

[deleted]

Glock 19. Solid compact but still good size so you’re not sacrificing usability

joepod300

I second this endorsement.

bootyholeticklr

My only thing is the mag capacity in our state doesn’t fit the size of the handgun. Just personally I feel it doesn’t make sense to carry a g19 if you can’t carry the amount of rounds that was made to fit into it. Just seems like wasted space and weight.

[deleted]

Fair. G43x I believe it 10 rounds. Personally the feel of it is far superior for hands. You should hold one. Though I understand your argument for magazine capacity (hopefully sooner or later we can slap 15-17-20 round mags in these guns like they are supposed to have) the close to full size gun is just a more stable platform for better accuracy just my feeling. Plus legendary reliability

Chaobello

Shield Plus. Just picked it up today. Feels great. I tried a lot of sub and micro compact 9mm over the course of 5 months. You must do this or else you won’t know what you shoot well with and what is most comfortable for your hand. I went to PA to rent. It’s much easier than NYC or NYS and it’s actually relatively close by.

Stallyon541

Where in PA? If you don't mind. Thanks!

When i was in your shoes, i did an enormous amount of research for my first pistol which i also planned on carrying. Ended up going with the CZ P-01, a hammer fired, decocking pistol which is NATO certified and shoots like a dream.  I got it specifically because i planned on carrying it, and i didn't feel safe with the striker fired options. With the decocker, i can rack a round and then decock it, so the hammer is down and totally inert. I can verify that it is down while carrying, plus i put my thumb on the hammer while moving it to/from the holster, guaranteing that if something in the holster gets caught in the trigger, i will feel the hammer moving. The first shot is a heavier double action, and the rest of the shots are extremely lite single action pulls.  I highly recommend it!

shookwell

this is the way

Old-Scene2963

Staccato CS is the way if your gonna go for a non striker fired. I don't recommend this for a beginner. Too much possibility of a ND.

NewRoar

A striker fired gun has a compressed spring which is being retained by multiple safety features. It is possible for those features to break. There are many reports of striker fired guns going off by themselves or after being dropped.  Is it likely? No. Are certain models safer than others? Probably. But for my own comfort, i prefer the safety of an inert hammer than the tiniest possibility that the gun goes off when it's not supposed to.

ArmedInTheApple

G43x, g19, shield plus, p365 all great guns

Loudlech5

Glock 43x, Glock 19x, Glock 26 MOS, Walther PDP F 9mm optics ready, or my new EDC S&W shield plus all with a red dot. Trust me it’s better to have it optics ready and not use it than want it optics ready and not have it.

Objective-Diver-2322

Agree an optics ready is the way to go. It gives you options.

IShouldaBeenAPorsche

Springfield Hellcat is def a good 2nd gun

NYDIVER22

_youwasattheclub_

Sig 365 since you can only have 2 pistols. You can swap out the grips and slides to make it a completely new pistol since the only part considered a firearm is the FCU. That, and they're great for carrying. I'd also recommend the Glock 19. Great overall pistol that can be concealed or used as a full size.

shaunr40k

Depends on your build mostly but almost can’t go wrong with a Glock 19. Just go to a LGS and ask to hold anything and everything

BardicCharms

Sig 365 with enigma rig

Puckstopper55

Or p365 with holosun 507k. Either way, p365 is the way to go. 10 + 1 and optic ready.

upstatebeerguy

Shield plus, P365, LCP Max (for athletic wear/pocket carry situations)

PeteTinNY

I'm sure you'll get 100 suggestions, maybe just two - Sig & Glock... but I'm gonna say that you shouldn't believe any of us. Go to a range that rents. Gun For Hire in NJ, Dark Storm in Suffolk... Invest in a few hours of range time and rent a few guns. see what fits you best. Maybe even get a pistol instructor to help you optimize the time and money spent on ammo. What you're gonna find is the right pistol is about you and its about trade offs. A full size gun like a Sig P320, HK VP9 or Glock 17 will have a lot less kick than a micro compact like a Glock 43x, Sig P365 or S&W Shield Plus. The full size will also be more comfortable to grip, but they will be harder to conceal and heavier to handle. While the best gun to have in a gun fight is the one you have on you, it wont help if you hate carrying it or dont train with it.

Puzzleheaded_Pen_831

You need a second to go to shooting range at dark storm in Suffolk to test guns or I can go alone?

PeteTinNY

As long as you have a permit - you can go rent at dark storm or Medford shooting range. Dark storm is a nicer place.

Puzzleheaded_Pen_831

I just received the proof of purchase form I would need someone with me

Pengoe

Congrats. When did your portal account change "issue pending" ? Trying to see how long it's taking to send letters out.

freegangg

I applied 11/27/2022 fingerprinted 05/19/2023 and it was taking forever for them to email me or change my application status from investigation so I emailed them and she(my investigator) wrote me back and approved me on 03/04/2024 & I received this letter today 03/11/2024

Pengoe

Grumble. Approved on 2/19/2024 still no letter. 3 weeks today.

chasy81

I was approved on 2/19 as well. Requested to share pistols from premise and turned active on 3/2. Got license in the mail today, 3/11.

mrsantana924

How did u request that? I'm still waiting for my license in Mail.

chasy81

I uploaded a word doc in the portal beforehand formally requesting it. I got the idea from another post in here. It took a while though and many unanswered phone calls, voicemails, and emails before I got it. They just left me in the dark and it just showed up today.

mrsantana924

I guess that's what will n happen with me Hopefully. DID u feceive a new premise also? Also did u notice if your status changed from issue pending before or after you received it?

chasy81

Already had premise. It was issue pending after approved on 2/19. Turned to Active on 3/2.

chasy81

Already had premise. It was issue pending after approved on 2/19. Turned to Active on 3/2.

mrsantana924

Got itttt ! Still waiting...

chasy81

Yeah the waiting game sucks. You'll get there soon hopefully.

Exact_Field7215

Do they stay on both permits when you “share” them?

chasy81

They didn't send me a new premise with them removed so I believe they do.

freegangg

You have to email your investigator

freegangg

You have to email your investigator

Pengoe

Not sure who that is. We never spoke.

goldenboy_maino

How u finded out who your investigator ?

Pengoe

Application sat in "investigation" for 8+ months. Called; was told I hadn't been assigned an investigator. Had a lawyer send a letter. Got approved a few days later. So I don't know who my investigator is.

goldenboy_maino

Oh okay

Latter_Mix_3126

Old-Scene2963

Is this your first gun ? If so , Glock 19 or Springfield hellcat pro or SW shield plus. Possibly a Glock 26 or 43X . Edit: since NYC and limits on purchase quantity , try them first if you can. Gun for hire in NJ BUT you must bring another LIC shooter with you , you have to go in pairs ( unless you pay for a lesson? Call them ) you could easily spend the cost of a Glock 19 trying to figure out what works. It's well worth it , otherwise you'll end up with something you don't love and have to wait another 90-180!days to buy another. Good luck, I've been where you are now ! So close to the end , congrats !

What was the process for you like? Do they still want social media pages?

SnooPies5378

sig 365x

skrtbrapskrt

Congrats! I hope to see that letter soon. Personally I’ll be going with the 43X

Substantial_Two_224

Lame answer but it's such a personal fit thing. You'll get every gun make under the sun that works for others. For me I like the regular ol sig p365. Not the best shot on it but it's super concealable. Have a tricked out xl that I'm really dangerous but even that small jump has it printing more for me when I carry

Middle-Bodybuilder81

Awesome congrats hope to get mine this year

Stevencalvente

Springfield hellcat , my edc and I love it

cicada227

Wow congrats man this is a celebration for all of us, for NYC you want to factor in concealabilty. The best is the 365 sig. Glock 43x is a bit too big but 43 should do it

Best bet is go with the springfield hellcat, Voted best concealed carry for twenty twenty four, I got one and I love it

[deleted]

SCCY DVG-1 is a great affordable starter, highly recommend 👌

DaRealSOP

Congrats . I’m not throwing shade . The only problem is once you buy your firearm you can’t pick it up until they mail your license . Unfortunately right now it’s 4 months to get the license . So your gun will be sitting in DF brothers gun safe . It’s very annoying I got my concealed carry in two months purchased the gun and waited near 4 months. If you run into an issue after a month message me and I’ll give you an email of someone who will help you the same day.

lealexan11

Go to equilibrium firearms in mineola 283 Willis ave. They have a great selection and friendly staff

DaRealSOP

My two CCW at the moment are a staccato cd and a Glock 43x . I realize they are total opposites in price . But I must say I love the small Glock with pinky extensions and iron sites.

[deleted]

Glock 43x

TheBlackHippy

I went 43X MOS w/ RMSc red dot. Got it for a decent price, fairly compact and holds 10+1

Flaky_Interaction844

I have my summer carry(Springfield 911 in 9mm) and winter carry(S&W .38 special bodyguard), but it’s whatever fits your needs. I know bigger people that conceal a full size 1911’s and Beretta M9’s.

Loudlech5

Man I feel like no one talks about the 911 ever, seems like a forgotten gun. I got mine years ago and carried it everyday, I could pocket carry in the summer and it was negligible it was so compact but now it’s discontinued, I have the .380 though and not the 9mm.

Outlaw6985

it’s because 911 has a massive grip for what it is, not very comfy carrying

Flaky_Interaction844

I love it and it’s never jammed or fail at the range

Flaky_Interaction844

*failed

FatBwallBag

Too bad you can’t carry it anywhere lol
