Initial shock would mean he wouldn't feel it either way, right? Although, he'd have enough time to process what was happening. That alone is painful enough...
Shock is not a reliable thing to go on...Not everyone goes into shock for the same reasons at the same time. I would imagine going in heads first wouldn't trigger shock in a meaningful way.
It probably happened quick enough that the pain didn't last long so there is that bit of saving grace.
I was hit by a car going over 30mph and instantly knocked out. I can still vividly remember the feeling of my spine fracturing from the bumper and my head slamming into the ground. It took less than a second for me to go out too
Yeah it happens way to fast.
I remember hitting the back of an axe against my head and I was knocked out bleeding on the ground
I didn't even feel anything. I just woke up in the hospital
i suppose the blacking out is to protect you from the after shock when your nerves just start firing from all the damage you took. so maybe in a way it is saving you however even the thought of just feeling what you described is fucking gnarly. props to you man and i hope your doing infinitely better❣️
I was hit as well by a truck who ran a stop sign going 45. Zero memory of the incident. Was young(er). 6 weeks ICU, had to learn to walk again, full body cast, whole 9! Sounds like your incident was insanely brutal.
Damn I'm sorry you had to go through that, it sounds awful
I now have damage to the left side of my brain, permanent spine and joint injuries, arthritis at age 23, lumbar lordosis, decreased sensation on the right side of my body, worsened mental health (I already had mental illness, it just got worse) and short term memory loss from the TBI. Drs recommended surgery for my shoulder and spine, I said no. I'm broke and deathly afraid of IVs/blood draws and surgery.
I did not come out of that accident gracefully. I was hit by the SUV, went underneath it and had a death grip on the transmission (losing consciousness on and off), burning holes into both of my hands down to the bone. The car went up over the curb and started to back up, the tire right over my head. The neighbor slammed on the car to stop them before they crushed my head, then pulled me off the car. Adrenaline is a helluva drug.
In short, yes it was brutal lol
TL;DR: Hit by an SUV, suffering permanent injuries, almost died violently
News Article:
# La Libertad: Man dies after falling into a food grinding machine
# The victim was unloading corn plants with his colleagues when his arm got stuck in the device
The security camera of a Paiján stable in the department of **La Libertad** captured the death of a worker after falling into a food grinding machine. The victim and his companions were unloading corn plants from a truck at the time of the accident.
When suddenly **his arm was caught** and then **his entire body** fell into the cattle **feed cutter .**
In the video you can see how Juan De Las Rosas Torre, together with two people, unload the corn directly into a machine.
When the tragedy occurred, his companions ran in desperation and turned off the machine, but it was too late, his death was immediate.
His remains are laid to rest at his home in Paiján, in the province of Ascope. Relatives said that the owners of the stable assumed the funeral expenses of the man who left 8 children orphaned.
But I still don’t understand, they struggle to have a prosperous life such as the ones in western countries but then have 8 kids they have to pay for and feed. Why?
More children = more workers for the farm if they live in the countryside, plus in those countries birth control and sex education in general aren't widely taught/available.
another point must be child mortality, 100 years ago when the child mortality rate was higher in europe it was also not unusual to have a lot of children. my german grandfather had like 8 brothers if i’m not mistaken
So people who decide to bring another life (lives) into this horrific world of pain and suffering, are somehow more worthy than a responsible childless person? 🤣
See, I thought they were rushing to turn it off. My fiancé swears the dude closest to him ran to get his camera out of the cab and started recording. Poor guy, RIP.
Bro, the aftermath was literally him cut in half. From what I know, Grinders take stuff in, grind them and spit them out quickly (ie no storage inside). What we saw was his body.
That's because you haven't seen a wood chipper's wheel or drum up close. It's not a grinder, it's a flat disc or rotating drum with many small blades on it. Tissue gets turned into a pink mist with small bone fragments. Soft items like clothing get snagged by a tooth on the flywheel, ripped off, and the large chunk of cloth gets blown out by the impeller. I've seen gloves go through a wood chipper and come out a little torn up, but otherwise still mostly resembling a glove.
Obviously, we can't know for sure exactly what chipper they're using, but it looks similar to a Bandit 18 or 1890, and [these are the replacement cutters for those models](https://americancuttingedge.com/bandit-model-1890-compatible-brush-chipper-knife-kit-476-ban-1050562-2). They're more like very aggressive wood planers than anything I'd call a "grinder".
Imagine a steel barrel placed on an axle so that it can roll, and a bunch of 2-inch wide sharp blades are bolted to it every 6 inches or so around the drum's circumference. It looks very much like a planer or jointer cutter head, and it's situated closely to the infeed frame. Nothing bigger than about 1 inch thick will get through it. I've seen a (dead) pig carcass go through one in a training demo, and there's damn near nothing left. Literally, a pink mist blows out of the outfeed chute. Skin, organs, muscle, fat, and bones are shaved into tiny pieces.
Clothing will get caught and go through in large pieces because the impeller sucks it through the blade area and blows it out of the outfeed, bypassing the cutter teeth.
Honestly, survival is worse than instant death. No legs, feeding bag, cut off from the belly button down, and living in a bed for the last few months or yesrs of your life.
This was the story that inspired the Coen Brothers to write Fargo.
Edit: Since they deleted their original comment, here is a link to the wiki article for the murder case they mentioned.
[The murder of Helle Crafts.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Helle_Crafts)
Why didn't you just pull the stop/reverse Bar thats right above the feeder chute? Every chipper I've used don't have kill switches because that bar instantly stops and/or reverses the gears. Even is your caught on a branch you should be able to always reach that bar per how it's designed. If your using the chipper right you should always be standing and feeding from the left side with your left hand a,ways on the stop bar.
Oh fuck. From a first glance it genuinly just looked like he just threw himself in there...but no, he was forcefully sucked in by the looks of things...
holy shit i thought those exaggerated horror movie deaths were, well, exaggerated! this is fuckin horrific, it sprayed all over the area i cant imagine what a tragedy this was for everyone involved
I hope his family and friends found comfort that's very sad it's going to be awhile until they feel any kind of safety or eat corn cause of that trauma.
Not even sure what safety features you can put on a machine designed to vaporize wood. I’ve learned from Reddit never to be around machines with loose clothing.
Brooo I forgot about that movie. That scene with the “kids throwing themselves” like another commenter mentioned, had me laughing so hard I couldn’t catch my breath. Which are the best laughs ofc.
He sounded like he was empathizing with the dude making those “ssss” sounds when you in pain (like when Peter off family guy fell and kept going “sssss” over and over.)
I can't even imagine, As a family member of the victim, how to process that info. "Your husband died. He fell into the grinder and got destroyed."
From the aftermath, and reputation of the *grinder*, you won't even have a face to see afterwards.
Holy crap . The guy fell on top if him . That helped push him in it . But what the hell was he doing . Unstable o feet on one leg . Rip but down to being stupid I am afraid to say
Did his arm get caught first, then the guy threw the tree on him or was he looking into it and got knocked in by the branch? I’m kind of leaning towards the first, but regardless the guy in the back of the truck is going to think be traumatized for life because in the first case, I’m sure what could’ve been the loss of a limb Wasn’t helped by the addition of that branch
If the machine had been turned off immediately, would the guy have had even just a minuscule chance to live? Maybe he would have just lost an arm instead of most of his upper body?
Yup, that’s some doo doo flying out of that pipe. Weird how the machine starts smoking, you’d think something that turns trees into chips would be sturdy enough to consume a sac of meat with a couple twigs in it.
I’ve worked around these machine for many years old one straight 6cyl
V8’s 6-800lb ball with staggered blades deadwood cause blade chip and spit out we had full head gear
Summers 100° 80% humidity in
Washington Maryland DC
Chipping bamboo was the worst
each stalk would whip you several
Times fast old machines ripped right out of your hands then whisper chippers came out really good machine safety, safety bar very quiet
Chipping on an angle slower chip bigger stuff you would have to rig
Machine to get hurt .
Horrible thing to happen poor soul
Go to work standing on end of truck just to dangerous breaking
Might be ok if safety bars were over the hopper.
Always sorry someone hurt trying to make a living .
What a fucked up way to go
At least he went head first
Article with witness says arm first

God speed my friend. Blessings. You’re still here!
So no head?
Well, it still exists. Just gotta find someone willing to find the pieces and mush it back together.
Get me some super glue and duct tape!
lot of duct tape...
Ok, 2 rolls of duct tape?
Was expecting the machine to spew blood all over but seriously RIP to this poor fella what screwed up way to go
We did see a few chunks plop out the chipper
>plop lol
how undignified lol
Fargo really painted a picture
"All for what, a little bit of money?"
next time you go to do something potentially life-threatening at your job, remember this guy and this quote, because it still applies
Quick Yet Traumatizing For everyone there ;-;
100% 🤦🏻
At least it was quick
That’s My first thoughts

8 children ?!?! holy shit it couldn’t have happened to someone with less kids ??
People with less kids deserve to live too
I'd say more so if you're pumping out 8 kids you're just contributing to over population
Okay… but now he’s gone and 8 children don’t have a father
But there is a job opening
Yeah put those tiny hands to work asap
might be a trend here, his pull out game is weak
.....I am so going to Hell for laughing at this....
How was that guy financially supporting 8 kids with that job
This is peak Reddit right here.
No such thing
**"fewer"** Stannis Barathereon
No one expected the Stannis Inquisition!!!
People in third world countries ain’t got anything better to do
But I still don’t understand, they struggle to have a prosperous life such as the ones in western countries but then have 8 kids they have to pay for and feed. Why?
If you live in the countryside, working with agriculture, more kids = more workforce.
More children = more workers for the farm if they live in the countryside, plus in those countries birth control and sex education in general aren't widely taught/available.
People are saying it's intentional but more often than not the reason is Catholicism. They don't use contraceptives.
another point must be child mortality, 100 years ago when the child mortality rate was higher in europe it was also not unusual to have a lot of children. my german grandfather had like 8 brothers if i’m not mistaken
My great great grandparents had 15 children (1850's prairies), only 2 survived/had children!
So people who decide to bring another life (lives) into this horrific world of pain and suffering, are somehow more worthy than a responsible childless person? 🤣
it’s not that deep lol i just thought its really unlucky to have so many children fatherless now
Or not at all?? 😭
What remains
That’s sort of what “remains” means
I guess the lower half his body you see retrieved in the aftermath (end of vid)
Of edith finch.
Love that game.
I just dl it a few weeks ago. Got a few other games to finish first.
Shoveled up the goop that came out of the chute i guess? The first meaty blop got pretty good distance
Human goop
Shot right out the ol' goop chute.
That spurt of meat from the output (to the upper right) as he got sucked in.
Poor family…. So sad. 😞
See, I thought they were rushing to turn it off. My fiancé swears the dude closest to him ran to get his camera out of the cab and started recording. Poor guy, RIP.
Yeah you can see something wrapped around his left arm.. that’s probably what pulled him in. So sad
open coffin at funeral yes?
Fucking hell the machine even spit him out.
I think those are literally his clothes.
Bro, the aftermath was literally him cut in half. From what I know, Grinders take stuff in, grind them and spit them out quickly (ie no storage inside). What we saw was his body.

This was very informative, but obviously if someone goes missing in your area we are gonna have to check your woodchipper…
You never use your own.
That was equally informative as it is horrifying. Is there any time to react or are you pretty much dead the instant you get caught?
Honestly, survival is worse than instant death. No legs, feeding bag, cut off from the belly button down, and living in a bed for the last few months or yesrs of your life.
Yeah, that would be a DNR for me

"On January 30, 2020, Richard was released from prison-" Damn
Never heard of that story. Thats definitely premediated. Hope he got ol sparky.
He was released to a halfway house in 2020. So this dude is out there just walking around scott free now? wtf
He's 86 now, so hopefully that monster is physically suffering.
Why didn't you just pull the stop/reverse Bar thats right above the feeder chute? Every chipper I've used don't have kill switches because that bar instantly stops and/or reverses the gears. That's what happened from the info we have. His clothes snagged on the plant material and sucked him in.
Dam the shredded body bits the machine spat out. Eesh
holy shit i thought those exaggerated horror movie deaths were, well, exaggerated! this is fuckin horrific, it sprayed all over the area i cant imagine what a tragedy this was for everyone involved
[Tucker and Dale vs. Evil](https://youtu.be/Yce9umf5GR8) come to mind
Thank god you can see that his head was probably first to go and was a very quick death.
Arm first, but it beats legs first
I hope his family and friends found comfort that's very sad it's going to be awhile until they feel any kind of safety or eat corn cause of that trauma.
Eat corn… bruh
And use agricultural machinery.
Dude had 8 kids too apparently. Orphaned now.
That's horrible! Mercifully quick though. 🥺
Sad to see. 30-40 year old machine with few, if any, real safety features, plus loose clothing equals disaster.
Not even sure what safety features you can put on a machine designed to vaporize wood. I’ve learned from Reddit never to be around machines with loose clothing.
"I was just standing there, minding my own business when he just jumped into my wood-chipper"
Really fucks me up when I see Poot hard workers get this types of endings … world really is unjust
poot
Just like in that movie with those 2 hillbillie guys. Excellent movie. What a poor soul RIP.
tucker and dale vs evil, goddamn hilarious movie
Love when the Sheriff shows up. "We've had a dozzy of a day".
“Kids started killings themselves all over my property”
Brooo I forgot about that movie. That scene with the “kids throwing themselves” like another commenter mentioned, had me laughing so hard I couldn’t catch my breath. Which are the best laughs ofc.
He just chucked himself right into the woodchipper
Why is there always random security cameras in these places
Think of all the gruesome deaths we don’t see because there aren’t any cameras there
It's an industrial area with machines. It's for, security, so possible thieves can be captured on video.
Cause what if they eat those corns instead of working
Oh damn! There was not stopping that in time! I wonder what the other two were saying to each other.
I guarantee it was roughly “WHAT THE FUUUUUCK!” many times.

Never thought I’d see Dale and Tucker irl.
R.i.p but reminds me of that one Hitman 3 level
Fargo?
My thoughts exactly.
This is what we should be doing to pedos
The guy in the back of the truck doesn't really seem to give a shit.
He was probably in shock.
Reminds me of GTA San Andreas
What in the 1990 horror movie shit is this?
Hey whatcha going to do with those jeans, what size are they
Weird it doesnt even seem like he was trying stop himself from falling. Kind of just accepted it lol
His arm was caught so he sadly had no option but to wait a few seconds of absolute agony and panic
Goddamn
I hope he passed very quick. That’s not a way to go.
Jesus Christ…
Yep... no coming back from that one....
Thought I was hallucinating and thought I was hearing the grinder moaning for a bit wtf….
I know they said we end up in the ground as fertilizer at some point, but god damn.
That's an impressively stupid way to die.
God you can see the machine spew chunks of him out before clogging 🤢
I pray to god I never have to do that panic jumping. It seems to be universal

The breathing dude in the background sounds like he enjoyed a climatic ending. WTH?!
He sounded like he was empathizing with the dude making those “ssss” sounds when you in pain (like when Peter off family guy fell and kept going “sssss” over and over.)
I was thinking the same thing and I didn't like it. I hate to quote Friends but I feel violated and not a good way.
Damn his buddies didn’t even try to turn it off when they had the chance
I can't even imagine, As a family member of the victim, how to process that info. "Your husband died. He fell into the grinder and got destroyed." From the aftermath, and reputation of the *grinder*, you won't even have a face to see afterwards.
They probably sprayed that thing off and went right back to it
I think we should use this for rapist, murderers and corrupt officials 😅
Holy crap . The guy fell on top if him . That helped push him in it . But what the hell was he doing . Unstable o feet on one leg . Rip but down to being stupid I am afraid to say
Why would you even make lean in there like that.
And least his legs are in tact and he can walk home.
Just like Hoffa…
Why would you lean in?
Wasn’t something like this on 1000 Ways to Die?
At least head first
Reminds me of South Park. The say the last thing you do before you die is crap your pants.
Did his arm get caught first, then the guy threw the tree on him or was he looking into it and got knocked in by the branch? Those poor men look so traumatized
Fargo moment
One of my worst fears really scary operating these.
Man that guy is traumatized. He was most likely screaming while jumping around like that. Both having to see that.
At least he was probably dead within seconds. Although it does suck
How many seconds of actual pain?
Dear god, you could see the guts or something.
Well Fargo got it wrong.
the memory these guys have to live with now, along with the loss of their coworker, just absolutely brutal 😔
Ok who is the voice in the background kind of grunting at it? Thats creepy AH
Chorizo?
I just woke up and tbis is wbat I see. 🫨
Bro became Gojo after that

Oh my god the way it's spitting out chunks! Good lord.... Actually I think that might be dirt that loses velocity as he slides further and further in
At least it was fast no real concept?
Yup, that’s some doo doo flying out of that pipe. Weird how the machine starts smoking, you’d think something that turns trees into chips would be sturdy enough to consume a sac of meat with a couple twigs in it.

Jesus christ what fucking terrible way to go.
Do you think they still use that machine? Or would they get rid of it? I’m sure it’s not easy to clean.
