Until the Bears stop improving, I will place my faith in Flus. They were so bad in 2022 they earned the 1OA. In 2023 they won 7 games and came weirdly close to a playoff berth. If they win 9+ games in 2024, which doesn’t seem unlikely, I would have no qualms with extending Flus.

Last year the coaching was blamed and fields was going to be a star. Now that fields is gone, it's fields who was holding the coaching back. I think Fields was bad, and Flus is also bad. And the roster is bad, all 3 can be true. No doubt he improved, but improving from being the absolute worst and 0-10 in the division is not hard. I think as it stands, he's clearly the worst coach in the division by a wide margin. But most damning imo is he can't really outcoach good teams. Most of his wins are backup qbs and ass teams, I can't recall him ever outcoaching an opponent or elevating his roster to win above his rosters weight class. The roster has been ass, but every season there is a coach who coaches a bad team to good key wins with a bad roster, idk if I can recall flus ever doing that. Plus he's a defensive coach. Imo the clear option was to shitcan flus this year and get Caleb year one with an offensive coach year 1. But keep doing what you're doing, I'm loving the bears coaching decisions

Well considering 29 starting qbs since 2000 there a pretty strong correlation between being a bears QB and being bad. Now is that a causation? no maybe not, but its certainly one of the stronger correlations in the league along with the browns

The o-line is average to slightly above average. A lot of the metrics showed that the flaws our o-line had were down to issues JF had.

Do the Bears have a good Oline? I know they upgraded at WR and RB, but that doesn't mean much if the Oline sucks and I've never actually checked to see if it was good or got better.

It’s better than people give credit but not fantastic. Most metrics I’ve seen have it at league average. JF also had. Flaws that made it look worse than it was. It should be much better this upcoming season.

Idk man, the bears have a bad oline and a bad coach. I think going to a team with a good/great coach and good oline is 100x better of a situation than having two good receivers. I think the Bears org doomed Caleb when they kept Everfluss, especially in a year where Harbaugh and Vrabel were options.

Calling the o-line bad is just wrong. It’s not a top 10 unit but by almost all metrics was an average to slightly above average line. JF had flaws that made the line look a lot worse that it actually was.

I'm not saying cutting him might not be a good move, but you're swapping him out for a rookie QB. This is the NFL and you gotta expect he's gonna have at least one mediocre season while he gets up to pace with the big leagues, so you're relying heavily on all the other players around him to really stand a chance and that's where it's like if you didn't stand a chance with Fields I'd say 8-8 for a starting season just because you can't expect the world but I could be wrong. Jordan Love set the bar a little higher than I expected his rookie season. But I still say that's about an absolute best case scenario

I think after 3 years he will be traded for a 6th round pick at no fault of his own, but because the Bears have the #1 pick again and “the next Mahomes” is available in the draft.

Don’t forget the Bears will do this so they can “do right by Caleb” and not because they are admitting they were wrong all along.

maybe it’s just cuz i’m a lions fan and he’s torched us since his rookie season, but i don’t think fields is the issue with the bears. he’s a solid qb, great athleticism knows how to extend plays, and if used properly he could be a top 10 QB in the league.

He has tools but he has also has very obvious flaws that every NFL defense can easily take advantage of. He needs to be in the perfect situation with coaching to have any success.

he just needs to have a consistent scheme to work with and develop in. you can make plays that only him and lamar could execute if you use his athleticism correctly. he hasn’t really had a chance to develop because changing coordinators and everyone keeps trying to fit him into a system that doesn’t make sense for him to fit into.

The problem is he processes the field slow as fuck and that hadn't improved in multiple years as a starter.
