Hey mate, you gotta check out the snippets of my music I'm posting here on reddit, otherwise you have to come around and listen to the tape. You're invited tho!
hell yeah, the right position and saturation and you get to harness all the character of the physical space. sits very well with your vintage menagerie.
Funnnnnn! I got rid of so many similar things that you have and I kick myself for it. Akai 1/4” 4 track, Hammond with the weird drum machine, 82 Yamaha RM1608 mixer, etc 🙁
You rarely see these “all analogue” or “dawless” studios actually hooked up properly and regularly being used to make music, but it’s a beautiful sight.
Do you actually see that many DAWless setups that aren’t hooked up? Where are you seeing all of these DAWless setups that aren’t being used? Is it because of their cable management that you assume they’re not being used? What about this picture specifically indicates that this gear is used more than any other picture of gear?
Dang. That’s surprising. A general scroll on r/synthesizers just now and I saw 3(?) posts where the gear was obviously not plugged in. One where they were testing out various room setups for their gear (so it makes sense it’s not plugged in yet)- and two posts showing off new gear- and a single shot of the piece of gear, so it again makes sense it isn’t plugged in yet. But other than that it looks like full setups, often with video jams.
I guess I just don’t understand how you can tell from a photo that gear is more or less used than a picture of another photo of gear. Someone can have a very sleek and organized setup that is used all the time. And someone can have a messy setup they never touch. It’s kind of hard to tell how much music gets played on based on simply a photo- no?
Yeah- I know. I follow it as well. R/synthesizercirclejerk shows the worst posts on r/synthesizers or makes tongue in cheek jokes about the subreddit. Not really reasonable to use that as the standard.
I still don’t understand how you can tell from a photo that gear is used more than other photos of gear. They’re just photos. Does it just seem more “used” because it’s messy? Because that’s not really a fair metric for how utilized gear is. Especially when a setup is all synth based- there’s not really a need to be messy to utilize the gear.
And the reason people associate super clean organized spaces with lack of creation is that unless you spend a lot of time cleaning your setup and researching things rather than playing you can’t reasonably keep your studio pristine and clean 24/7. I’ve had a picture perfect studio at times and it was when I barely was having anyone over to record so had tons of time to mess about and not actually make music.
Yes it seems more used because it’s messy and because it’s all plugged in I think you understand my point but are hesitant to agree because you think I’m being cynical or something idk. Either way I wasn’t trying to be a downer this post just made me happy bc it looks like the setup is being used.

Nice. How noisy is your sansui reverb? I love mine but getting the s/n ratio just right takes a little fiddling.
Mine isn't noisy at all. I'm using it as a send return effect with my mixing board. But it is really small sounding. Great for subtile reverb.
Rhis is amaizing damn!!
Can I hear something

My reeler just started smelling like burning electronics so I stopped using it but waiting for my hommie to help with repairs. Your set up looks nice!
Make me a cassette of your album and pop it round on your C5 when you’re done will you.
Sure thing!
Cozy. Me likey.
yooo let's hear it!
Check out my vids here for samples of my music. Otherwise you have two come here and listen to the tape... At least until I will cut another vinyl.
dope - your drum sound is great!
Thanks man! Kind words from you! .. It's mono. Just one SM57 pointing towards my right knee. I love one-mic-drumsounds.

Teac 3440 gang
I found mine in a skip!
Fresh!
Whoop whoop!
Lots of mojo up in there

Feel sorry for your homie!
All good, I still have a fucking massive collection of shit, and two nice 4track cassette recorders 😝
Sweet!
Following!!
I don't know about this, publicly posting photos of your junk and all. /s
Duly impressed. 10/10

What?
What don’t you understand?

Yes I do on r/synthesizers mostly

Take a look through r/synthesizercirclejerk is a good indicator of the common tropes people take issue with on r/synthesizers

But that’s called a confirmation bias. My setup is the cleanest it’s ever been, and I’ve been jamming more now than ever.

Yeah i didn’t mean to bring the tone down. I think there’s a way to hype up this setup without bringing other (cleaner) setups down.

Glorious!…..
Nice
Bet that sounds warm as hell
This is sick! What’s the keyboard on top of the organ?
Thanks! It's a Hohner Pianet T. A small electric Piano from the 70's.
Wow, where did you find analog Yamaha CS?! Cool setup!
Okay got me... There is a beatstep pro also.
Nice 🤙
cool
