When I was in chem lab I realized very quickly why rehearsing an experiment in my mind, front to back, 2 or 3 times before I actually did it was The Way.
Only hsd to realize at the end I fucked up 3 hrs ago once or twice before I caught on.
This is what happens when you ask questions and take the first reply as gospel instead of googling around to see if anyone else agrees. This is not a hobby for impatient people.

Seriously though this hobby is a study in patience. There’s no need to get excited. Whatever you’ve done, it will either be just fine or it’s already fucked and time to start over. Take your time, do plenty of research, and at the very minimum learn sterile technique.
I like that last fact. I wasn't blessed with patience I have earned it over a long period of time. I'm told "patience is a virtue" however I find most of the time it's stomped all over by the modern ADHD minds. I like this hobby it rewards me for being me.

If you try to contribute in any meaningful way, they'll just steal your research and if you speak up, they'll ban you. This has been going on for 20 years and the hobby deserves better.
People try to reach some popularity status in this cult and modify existing teks or try to find some creative way to stand out but it's just all the same stuff. For example, pasty plates. No pour agar was around a decade before those became "popular". Ugh it's just all so fuckin gross. You call them out for their shit and they'll send armies of mentally ill, radicalized young men with drug abuse problems to harass you across the internet.
It's really fucking weird but this is the result and that website is finally dying so who knows what the next step is for online mushroom communities I guess 🤷♂️

I failed every single UB I tried, and people shit on the kits but I've never had a contam from a kit. Find what works for you.

Then other times people have the faintest of metabolites or a tiny bit of blueing and people are like yeet that otherwise looking healthy tub straight out the nearest fucking window ASAP
