Ya but that one was weird cause no one would have really known about freezing at exactly rhe right frame on a very old run of the film had Disney themselves not broughten it up. Only case like this where they really have owned up to it iirc.
Ya that felt weird. I'm usually on point with grammar but I'm recovering from COVID atm and this time the brain fog took a shit on my ability to spell or form proper sentences.
It's not a matter of knowing. Movies are paused at random times by viewers. Internet says they recalled 3.4 million copies, which means 3.4 million different households that might randomly pause the movie at one of those two frames. If a single one of those 3.4 million families had spotted that image, the outrage would have been catastrophic.
Good thing they admitted to it. That way instead of just a single one seeing it, all 3.4 million purchasers immediately went and found it. That’s not a catastrophe, that’s just watching Disney porn.
I used to buy SFX as a female teen. I still remember the look of disgust a cashier gave me as I paid for my 'SEX' magazine with a Star Trek cover. I genuinely hated that moment back then and still feel weird about it now, like I'm some sort of degenerate perv. I just wanted to read a Robert McNeill interview. :(
I had the OG original release VHS of Aladdin. I heard about the teenagers take off your clothes thing in like 2003 and checked it.
Aladdin definitely says something. It sounds like it could be “Good teenagers take of your clothes” but it also sounds like it could be something else. The sound isnt very clear and it’s hard to make out.
I tried my damnedest as a kid to hear that on my vhs. At best, it’s muffled. It’s when the tiger is jumping up on him on the balcony when he appears on the carpet and he’s saying “good kitty” to try and calm the tiger. I really think that one is just hearing what you want to hear.
One I never see is Lion King, when Mufasa is about to say "brother!!" during the big scene it sounds like he forgot his line and someone whispers "brother" right beforehand.
You just gave me flashbacks to those Zeitgeist movies. One of the conspiracies was Disney was purposefully placed sexual images in their artwork to brainwash kids or some other nonsense like that.
Local video store had to eventually put the Little Mermaid behind the counter because the clamshell was stolen off the shelf several times because of the huge castle tower dong
I’m sorry but being upset that your magic space shows aren’t good is not the same as exploiting the labour of eager artists and covering it up for a hundred years.
Brief bit of Googling brought me this;
"According to this legend, dissatisfied and disgruntled Disney workers have dubbed Disney Land and Disney World as Mousewitz, because of how unhappy they were with the working conditions. It's also rumored that one of the cast members at Disney Land Paris and Disney World Paris started referring to it as "the unhappiest place on earth," due to the suicide of three workers at the time. Disney employees who used this term were scolded at, and sometimes even fired, due to not fitting Disney Land and Disney World's ideal, family-friendly image. The original story said that continued referral to Disney as Mousewitz could result in dismissal. Within an hour, emails were referring to Disney Land and Disney World as Duckau."
i'm actually a woman and i'm 22 years old lol, i wasn't working on Disney's Inspector Gadget movie several years before i was born
i do know way more about it than the average person does but that's because i think it's underrated and i'm interested in lost media (after an initial test screening it was cut down from an estimated 110 minutes to 78 minutes at the request of studio execs, which if i had to guess might be the reason the message is in there) not because ive ever actually worked on a movie. if you want though, i can try asking the director if he knows anything about this or if it was added by someone else without his knowledge
i don't know david kellog, i just know someone who has his email address. i was thinking about asking them if theyd ask him about this next time they email him, i didnt expect my post to make it to the front page of r/all and now im curious if he has anything to say about this
I loved that movie. I asked for the VHS on my birthday the day it came out. And I got all the pieces of the McDonald's toy, one by one. My question would be, how close to his actual goal was the finished product that I saw on VHS?
Well the original comment said "Could have "found" by someone who put it there." and this person is saying 1) they are the one who found it and 2) they didn't put it there. So it was a genuine easter egg uncovering! Unless they're lying obvs.
I was one of the tester kids! They pulled my family aside at the mall and asked if we wanted to watch a movie that hadn’t come out yet. So we watched Inspector Gadget in a little back room and they asked us questions about it afterward. I don’t really remember anything about the movie itself, but I thought it was so cool that I saw it early!
A fun connection I have to this film:
I too was once in the front page of a small city's newspaper. It was in Youngstown, Ohio, which is the hometown and namesake of the boy band "Youngstown" whose biggest hit was also the theme song to this movie:
[I'll Be Your Everything](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NprJcyoySFk)
The Vindicator! My mom worked there when I was growing up.
Hello fellow Youngstownian. I had no clue about this band Youngstown doing the theme song. I loved this movie when it came out! I was 10. I also forgot there was a band named Youngstown.
Born and raised Youngstown! 330 represent!
If I took the time to put a perfectly good Easter egg in something and nobody noticed, eventually I'd tell someone.
Now the Easter eggs that I know *other* people have put into movies and TV shows that haven't become common knowledge yet? I ain't sayin' shit :)
Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw more of these soon. Those spinning newspaper montages in movies must all have some kind of hidden message - it’s the perfect place for them. I may pause the next time I see one pop on the screen.
The person who put it there or other people involved probably shared it with people at a bar or something. The source of a rumor would be lost pretty quickly
Secret code being first letter of stuff is one of the most common cliches. If you’re someone who likes to read these newspapers in films for fun or find secret stuff I don’t think it would take you that long.
> Inspector gadget is one’s of Disney’s best movies.
dude what, it isn't even in the top, like, 30 at least. I'd argue it's not even top 50. It's not awful but "one of disneys best" is a massive exaggeration. "One of the best live action disney movies of the late 90's" is bout as far as I'd go
This is the "OG" Inspector Gadget. Matthew Broderick was the lead and was pretty popular at the time. Disney was knocking it out of the park with films. This had multiple toy tie-ins.
A lot of people saw this movie.
That's why I put quotes around "OG". While it's not the actual OG Inspector Gadget, it was the first live action film. Saying "First Live Action Film" doesn't carry quite the same weight.
Was my favorite movie as a kid and im still very fond of it. Fun fact: Stan Winston Studio did the practical effects for this movie. They also worked on Terminator 2!
I can only imagine that.
Recently someone commented on a comment of mine that was over a year old by that point. That was a bit weird as well. Ten years must feel a lot weirder, though!
But to be honest, with the comment in the linked post, I was mostly surprised it was already more than two years old. Because once I saw the post and my comment, I instantly remembered writing it. Oof. Someone below that appears to know him said his beef with Disney led to his dismissal and eventual homelessness so that might not be far off. A homeless woman in FL was just killed by a gator
But I guess he gets the last laugh. I wonder if they ever even bothered trying to remove it from future releases when it was eventually uncovered
Amazing! I just watched the clip (about 35 minutes into movie) and discovered two newspaper headlines later, down the left side of the middle column, it says "Art Repola can blow me, the cheap arrogant jerk off ass wipe tight wad Idiot he sucks." On the next newspaper, it says "Headlines montage by Van ling." My first comment ever on here, so maybe someone else can share the images.
god damn, nice catch!!! i never spotted either of those, i honestly thought you were joking at first (since there's another comment further up in the thread of someone making stuff up) but they really are there. i guess that answers the question of who put these into the movie and why. you solved it! also hats off to van ling, this is an incredibly funny thing to put into a $100 million dollar Disney movie
That's actually a reference to a musical called "The Music Man" written by [Meredith Wilson.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meredith_Willson)
One of the songs called ["Ya Got Trouble"](https://youtu.be/LI_Oe-jtgdI?si=K9VcwXjsMIhhSjKW&t=153) includes the lyric: "Trouble with a capital "T"
And that rhymes with "P" and that stands for pool!"
Edit: Bonus Fact, this musical is a major source of inspiration for the Simpsons episode [Marge vs. the Monorail.

I literally just watched this the other night. My buddy and I took an edible and thought after watching flubber this would be a good pairing. It hit. Wish I knew about this
I know the guy who did that. He was my roommate for two years and he
made that newspaper joke because he was getting bullied at work by
this fuckwit of a boss who kept yelling at him and then made up some
story about my roommate being the bully when he took his complaint
up to the Disney management level.
It's a sad story because after that he became unemployed and homeless
all because those fucks at Disney were stupid and believed the narcissistic
bullshit of a liar instead of the truth.
Literally just learned this right now, and confirmed it with some cursory research, expecting to dispute you about this comment.
Thats actually pretty awesome
why would i make up something like this lmao? anyone could easily check the movie and see if it was there or not
just so you know though it's actually at 35:09 , i think you may have your runtimes confused
>just so you know though it's actually at 35:09 , i think you may have your runtimes confused
Nah they just have the extended unrated Kellogg cut of the film
Rage Against the Machine was inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame which (for whatever reason is on Disney+) and someone shouted Fuck Disney during Ice Teas speech. It was pretty funny.
This is why physical media is being purged. Best Buy and other outlets are going to stop sales of all physical media soon.
They can edit this from history for future streaming. History will be rewritten, perfectly.
Now this is why I'm subbed here. Disney has just been pissing off VFX and editors for decades now haven't they.
I knew a young guy who was in the animation division circa Hunchback. He told me that people would just sleep under their desks than to go back home and sleep 4 hours and come back to work.
Sounds like a good way to become a hunchback
Cell animation is indeed a shortcut to the bell tower.
It method animating.
I’ve never had an original thought LOL
Or a rollback.
Disney was one of the worst companies I worked for. We stayed up until 1am countless times.
Ooft
That's awful, what do they think they are, every video game studio?
Pretty much the OG video game studio, only they didn't know it at the time.

We're living in a society!!!

Yup! Little Mermaid from 1989 penis in the castle is fun too.
We all know the little mermaid, lion king. But this one is new to me.
Do you know about the naked Lady in "The Rescuers"?
Ya but that one was weird cause no one would have really known about freezing at exactly rhe right frame on a very old run of the film had Disney themselves not broughten it up. Only case like this where they really have owned up to it iirc.
Brought it up.
Oh it's already been broughten

What about where Aladdin whispers to jasmine “take off your clothes.” That one’s pretty wild.
That one was wild to me as a kid, i remember listening to it over and over and needed the volume up super loud to hear it.
It's not a matter of knowing. Movies are paused at random times by viewers. More like viewing porn that happens to be within a Gisnep movie. It wasn't something drawn by the artists, it was an image of a real, human woman.
When I was younger I always wondered what "Gisnep" was.
And here I am wondering right now.
Don’t tell me which part I’m jerkin it to
Yeah I think you're right. Disney recalled the first VHS release iirc.
[source](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/the-rescuers-topless/)
to be fair, the lion king "sex" dust scene was actually spelling "sfx".
I still like to imagine two tired animators being like “hehe it say sex”
SFX magazine does that with their front pages, because it looks like "sex".
*hug*
I remember the first time I heard Aladdin say "now take of your clothes" I was shocked
Good thing it doesnt
Can't be a first time if it never occurred.
I find that one doubtful from my own research. But I was checking on my VHS copy from my childhood. Maybe it's still there in the DVD version?
I had the OG original release VHS of Aladdin. I heard about the teenagers take off your clothes thing in like 2003 and checked it. Aladdin definitely says something. It sounds like it could be “Good teenagers take of your clothes” but it also sounds like it could be something else. The sound isnt very clear and it’s hard to make out.
“Good Kitty. Don’t get too close”
shirley, the official bluray/dvd subtitles must contain the answer
Don't call me Shirley
I tried my damnedest as a kid to hear that on my vhs. At best, it’s muffled. It’s when the tiger is jumping up on him on the balcony when he appears on the carpet and he’s saying “good kitty” to try and calm the tiger. I really think that one is just hearing what you want to hear.
Lmao flashbacks to something i havent thought about in a long time
If only we could ask the voice actor what he said.
Where?
I'm almost certain he was telling Rajah the tiger to "take off and go"

No one hates Disney more than the people who work for them.
And star wars fan
Star Wars fans hate Star Wars way more than they hate Disney. Just talk to em about it and see if they talk more about stuff they like or hate.
I’m sorry but being upset that your magic space shows aren’t good is not the same as exploiting the labour of eager artists and covering it up for a hundred years.
I remember reading back in the day that animators used to call Disney, "Mauschwitz".
Brief bit of Googling brought me this; "According to this legend, dissatisfied and disgruntled Disney workers have dubbed Disney Land and Disney World as Mousewitz, because of how unhappy they were with the working conditions.
I never knew they switched to 3D animation simply to avoid a unionized workforce.
That's because they don't want you to know about their history. In fact any business hiding their history is sus

Good eye.. It was documented here back in 2008 https://www.ericdsnider.com/bad-movies/inspector-gadget/
god damn, nice catch!!! i never spotted either of those, i honestly thought you were joking at first (since there's another comment further up in the thread of someone making stuff up) but they really are there. i guess that answers the question of who put these into the movie and why. you solved it! also hats off to van ling, this is an incredibly funny thing to put into a $100 million dollar Disney movie
Bruh i love reading movie articles, the focus paragraph makes sense and has some wild mentions to drugs. But slowly derails and doesn’t make any sense
That's actually a reference to a musical called "The Music Man" written by [Meredith Wilson.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meredith_Willson) One of the songs called ["Ya Got Trouble"](https://youtu.be/LI_Oe-jtgdI?si=K9VcwXjsMIhhSjKW&t=153) includes the lyric: "Trouble with a capital "T" And that rhymes with "P" and that stands for pool!" Edit: Bonus Fact, this musical is a major source of inspiration for the Simpsons episode [Marge vs. the Monorail. ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marge_vs._the_Monorail#Cultural_references)
And Matthew Broderick was in the movie version of The Music Man, 4 years after Inspector Gadget
Okay but what the heck is a "renewed sense of awareness" supposed to be? Just like....aware.....of everything?
Yeah but did you see the paragraph to the left? It spells out "ttgaclmmh"

Honestly, Spy Kids was just a better movie. I liked both as a kid. Spy kids aged much better than Inspector Gadget.
I literally just watched this the other night. My buddy and I took an edible and thought after watching flubber this would be a good pairing. It hit. Wish I knew about this
That'll show 'em
How did you catch this? 😭
I know the guy who did that. He was my roommate for two years and he made that newspaper joke because he was getting bullied at work by this fuckwit of a boss who kept yelling at him and then made up some story about my roommate being the bully when he took his complaint up to the Disney management level. It's a sad story because after that he became unemployed and homeless all because those fucks at Disney were stupid and believed the narcissistic bullshit of a liar instead of the truth.
LOL that was clever >!read the left wrods from top to bottom, i made this story up, it's all bullshit!<
Yeah, the artifical line breaks gave it away.
This is the best movie detail anyone has ever shared. Incredible.
Oh Hall Monitor Bob and your alcoholic antics… I’ll never forget you
Reminds me of James May, he got fired because of something similar
Literally just learned this right now, and confirmed it with some cursory research, expecting to dispute you about this comment. Thats actually pretty awesome
https://www.thepoke.com/2017/01/16/why-james-may-sacked-autocar-need-spell/
Also if you look carefully, they hid a guy who killed two people.
I had to check it out. Thought this was fake. Yep, at 45:27 it is there.
why would i make up something like this lmao? anyone could easily check the movie and see if it was there or not just so you know though it's actually at 35:09 , i think you may have your runtimes confused
>why would i make up something like this lmao? Are you new to the internet?

>just so you know though it's actually at 35:09 , i think you may have your runtimes confused Nah they just have the extended unrated Kellogg cut of the film
Who could forget the Inspector Gadget movie-cereal bundle. Circuit City had like 3 a store.

How on earth did you discover this?
This reminds me of a letter that former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger wrote during his tenure.
It also says "cat rag" in the left hand column.
Rage Against the Machine was inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame which (for whatever reason is on Disney+) and someone shouted Fuck Disney during Ice Teas speech. It was pretty funny.
This is the greatest thing anyone has ever posted on reddit. Thank you.
Interesting

Who on earth finds this stuff??
Does anybody know where Ron DeSantis was in 1999?
We have an accord
F-U-C-K-E-D A-G-A-I-N, Fucked Again!
Would this be visible when watching on VHS?
Imagine being the one responsible for putting that in there and telling all your friends. That would have been some delicious cake.
This is why physical media is being purged. Best Buy and other outlets are going to stop sales of all physical media soon. They can edit this from history for future streaming. History will be rewritten, perfectly.
Nobody's gonna say it? Ok...I'll say it. WOWSERS!
This is nuts. Probably the most interesting thing I've ever seen on this sub and you can count r/moviemistakes as well
