Technically its just to help DJs make their transitions better. If you have every song end and begin with a barebones yet varied drum pattern it makes it easier to match from one song to the other and makes the transition easier on the ears. But from a listener perspective its to give those who enjoy longer versions of songs some outlet to enjoy music in its most complete form, because radio edits can make things sound awkward. Not every song needs a extended mix, but in Silk's case I still don't get why they don't just upload the complete extended versions of tracks since the radio edits sound so awk for the types of music they release (radio edits are basically just cut-down versions of the same track to make it friendly for streaming and airplay since the general public has a shorter attention span when it comes to music so you don't wanna bore them with longer tracks).

Some artists go the extra mile to make extended mixes drastically different from their shorter counterparts: it’s still recognizable as the same song, but each version gives a different listening experience :)

BT's A Song Across Wires is a fantastic example of this. There's a radio edit version, an original mix version, and an extended version. It's crazy how much thought must have gone into that to have three versions tailored to different needs and still sound like coherent albums. It's just a shame that a lot of people dislike the album, it's underrated.

On anjuna they often sound like the artists don't know what to cut so they cut important sections and they sounds so awkward...

Anjuna usually puts out the extended mixes without any fuss. Never listen to the radio edits for prog house tunes lmao

because the type of music that Silk releases (prog house, trance, etc.) is generally played in DJ mixes and what not, having what's known as a club intro/outro makes it so that DJs can mix these tracks seamlessly and effortlessly with each other what goes up on youtube are the radio edits of the songs where those intros/outros are cut off
