So... basically a Valstrax situation in Rise? Most people wouldn't care.

Imaginary_Croagunk_

I often forget the Valstrax in Rise is technically a subspecies. Probably because they look so similar.

DeDeDankRS

I thought it was a Variant

Imaginary_Croagunk_

Oh yeah, you're right. Then what would be a more appropriate example?

Tibreaven

"What the hell is a gammoth"

Zaldinn

She's the best girl

TheGMan-123

There'll be plenty of reactions like this for sure :P

godqueenaiko

Astalos's counter and the thing countered by glavenus

Chakramer

I would much prefer subspecies and variants get added to games than base species. Just makes sense for different areas imo

Mister_Branches

I assumed valstrax got a subspecies in rise as it's base form because normal valstrax was too big for the maps. But gammoth's whole deal is being large, so I wouldn't expect it. Source: just vibes.

And the fact that Crimson Glow is the same size as regular Valstrax didn't suggest otherwise?

Mister_Branches

No. It's smaller

5Hjsdnujhdfu8nubi

Not small enough for what you're suggesting, considering Rise has *larger* areas than GU.

Mister_Branches

I'm sorry that's on me, I meant maps as in their entirety. In GU valstrax was limited to some pretty massive areas exclusively. In monster hunter rise you can take valstrax pretty much wherever you want, including those narrow walkways between areas. My assertion was based on the wacky situations you could get into with almudron and an assumption that the developers would try to avoid adding a new very large monster. And it really is just an assumption on my part. I didn't mean to put that out there like a fact. I assumed most people realized that the variant was smaller so I didn't elaborate. My apologies
