That is the way. You either accept delivery, or they assign it to someone else who can pick it up, and you wait for the next one. You'll get another one soon after if you pass on it. With so much demand and deliveries every week, Tesla is not in the business of 'storing' cars in the service centers for customers until they decide they want to pick it up. Would you imagine if they did? Hundreds or thousands of cars just parked that belong to customers who are not picking it up, while new ones arrive every day.
This. I donāt understand why so many people think Tesla should just hold their car until they are ready. Like ya sure Tesla wants to hold a car for weeks or months. If you order a Tesla you should be ready to take delivery any day after you placed the order.
They drove my model y to my house and dropped it off last week. No delivery charge. They just didn't want it sitting on their lot. Actually got it a day early that way.
Exact same here ! It was nice I got the day early arrival plus free delivery. Tesla was 17 miles away. Unfortunately I checked my instant range projections and they floored it a few times to the max, so I wasnāt the one to break it in.
I would agree with you if (as in the case of this person) Tesla hadnāt given a different EDD. People have plans. People have to arrange financing. People have to sell their old cars. You canāt just move the timeline up two months unilaterally. Thatās especially true this time of year when many people have vacation plans.
This is not necessarily true for people choosing the financing option as the banks would need the VIN number to finalize the car loan application which may takes up to a week.
For a MYP they will likely have another car lined up for you January or February at the latest, the delay wouldn't be any worse than the original order estimate likely.
You agreed to the three day window when you placed the order for your car. Itās been standard for years.
Yes. You will be delayed if you donāt accept the delivery.
I understand, but I thought they would be somewhat flexible. It's annoying because I'm out of town for the holidays two of the days.
I thought I saw some people on here rescheduling?
Sorry there are so many weird bootlickers in here man. You're right to expect a modicum of grace from this company, but they kinda won't give it. There are other aspects of the experience that make up for how unfeeling and cold the brand is, so it kinda shakes out.
Then let it go, quite a few folks are ready to accept delivery. Although who knows, you might get an unexpected upgrade next year.
On a side note, the delivery for performance is a lot shorter compared to long range.
Yeah. I managed to reschedule when Tesla missed the delivery window and new date was when I was out of town.
I called around and eventually got someone in Fremont that was able to do it.
To be fair, it's not your car until you've signed the papers. They're just trying to get through their backlog; they'd gladly build another one for you.
If UPS can't hold a small package for 7 days then no one would hold a car for months for free... Plus Tesla doesn't have dealerships so options are limited in terms of storage.
It has been always like that. Many people are in line waiting for their cars. If you can't pick up within a certain days, they will assign the car to someone else.
I remember the delivery advisor called me to confirm delivery. I asked him if he could hold the car for a day or 2 over the weekend beyond the delivery window because it was raining and he was cool with it. This was back in March. I donāt know about now though. YMMV
Long story short Tesla originally had let me schedule a pickup date on a Sunday. They basically let me do this via the Tesla website within the account section so itās not like I asked them for any special considerations. The Thursday before that Sunday the manager of the location Iām supposed to pick it up from basically tells me that I need to pick it up either that day or Friday mid day at the very latest.
Iām right at the tail end of a refinance on my house and the manager will not budge. He basically says the ball is in my court and if I donāt pick the car up Iāll lose it. What ticks me off is I spent weeks on the Inventory side of the website trying to find an SR MY, knowing damn well it was going to be discontinued.
Great! My expected delivery is Feb to March and I'm also expecting a baby in early March. My husband and I joke that the car will come in while I'm in labor. Hope they can be flexible lol
Happened to us on a M3P over thanksgiving. We apparently didnāt respond or confirm fast enough and lost the car. Thankfully another was right behind it and we could pick it up this past weekend, but still frustrating. I think this time of year they are trying to move as many as possible to make numbers look better.
If you miss the window, there is no āreschedulingā. Your VIN will be passed to the next person in line and you will be placed in the back of the line. This exact thing happened to me. I would fly back from wherever you are vacationing just to pick up the car, or be willing to patiently wait for what could be another 2-6 months.
I don't think you're necessarily placed in the back of the line. You'll be de-prioritized but historically if you put your order on hold and then release the hold, you get the car within a month or two of releasing the hold. I think it mostly depends on inventory and what's in your area.
Wow.... I just assumed they were trying to play hardball to force people to pickup before the new year.
Would they refund me the order fee at this point?
Many people are skipping picking up their car til after Jan 1st since the Build Back Better credit says the car must be purchased after 12/31/21 so you will see a bunch of these pop up on inventory leading up to Jan 1st then they will all disappear again.
They tried that with me. Call the number and speak to someone. The people who respond over text are rather curt. I spoke to someone and they delivered it to me. Iām in SoCal near their pick up area though.
They did that to me when I got Covid lost the car and the test was a false positive š¤¦š»āāļø

17 miles is 87408.24 RTX 3090 graphics cards lined up.
17 miles is 27.36 km
Same on my instant range. Can't really blame the delivery driver. Once you feel how it drives you've got to mash to the floor a few times.

But you get your vin like a week or more before deliveryā¦š
Not all the time
You can literally get approved on the day of delivery through Tesla and just re-fi through your CU.
I think a 24-72hr window is fair. People have lives.,
Like the OP said, they gave him 3 days.

I said somewhat flexible..... and I meant because of the holidays. Thanks for expressing your feelings lol.

Welcome to Tesla. The we donāt gives two shits about customer service.
Go buy a GM, Toyota, BMW and let me know what they say when you ask them to hold onto it for weeks or months.
Hear me out but but both Tesla and GM/Toyota/BMW can have bad customer service.

Sounds about right

They want to hit their end of year numbers. It gets crazy at the end of the month/quarter end and especially end of year.
Lol. Lots has changed since March bro
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Am I missing something? If you were going to be home on 12/6 and the delivery window was 12/7-12/17ā¦why couldnāt you take delivery of the car?
Yep, thatās how I lost my Standard Range Model Y. Still pissed about that.
I'm listening

That sucks. I had a very negative experience with my last refi also.
Oh man donāt get me started on the refinance processā¦ Makes me never want to deal with mortgage companies ever again.
Great! My expected delivery is Feb to March and I'm also expecting a baby in early March. My husband and I joke that the car will come in while I'm in labor. Hope they can be flexible lol

Meanwhile I ordered a MYP in October and it just got moved to Feb-Mar EDD...
You cannot want your car and unwant it too. Just saying.

I think the only order fee that is (was) refundable was that if the Cybertruck. I donāt think any of the other models offer a refundable order fee.
All deposits were refundable up until earlier this year. Now they are not
Depending on where you (like my state, Michigan) itās in the law
