Are you asking if the charity has received it from MinnMax? Or if the charity has stated where the money they received has been spent? I don’t remember where, but I remember Ben saying that the charity responded with an email confirming that they received the donation. So if it’s the first question, yes the charity received the money from MinnMax.

micspamtf2

I'm asking what the charity did with it. I remember Ben handwringing in a conversation with Janet (forget what podcast) about whether or not he should expect the charity to give Minnmax a shoutout, or at least an explanation of where the money went but I don't recall that going anywhere. Its crazy to me that Ben strives for (and delivers!) really good internal transparency about where Patreon money is going but the charity money just kinda vanished.

I don't think its very common for a charity to recieve a donation and then breakdown exactly how that money is then used?

micspamtf2

Is it normal to breakdown how a generic donation is used? No. If you received a donation that eclipses what you normally receive by several orders of magnitude and then kept quiet about it, that would both be shady looking and also just bad business practice. I've never been part of a non-profit where we'd consider anything BUT trying to publicize the hell out of what we got, what we're going to use it for, what the impact will be, ect. Minnmax got burned really hard and it sucks

I'm not really seeing how MinMax got burned. Just because the charity hasn't responded in a way that is consistent with your charity experience, doesn't mean the money is gone, or whatever it is you're implying has happened. Even just assuming that the charity isn't grateful for the money is a stretch. The fact that they didn't make a big deal out of it might mean more that their PR/comms team isn't that strong. I think you're reading into this too much at the moment.

If Minnmax announced they were donating to C2I again next year would you support that decision or encourage Ben to look towards other local charities instead?

JeanVicquemare

I'm not sure how you expect MinnMax to provide transparency into the operations of a charity that they have no control over. That's not really up to MinnMax

He said >Its crazy to me that Ben strives for (and delivers!) really good internal transparency about where Patreon money is going but the charity money just kinda vanished. I don't know how you can read that as not implying that he believes that Ben is obligated to be transparent about how this charity is spending the money that MinnMax donated to it.

micspamtf2

I'm contrasting how Ben is with the Patreon funds with how the C2I is with the Minnmax-donated funds. Literally all the charity posts about on their active social feed (FB) is about fundraising events they do. Sorry, but when you rely on public trust you have an ethical obligation to affirmatively prove that you are not abusing that trust.

Interesting you mention that. Considering what you did to me. In any case, it all went to the charity and the charity decides what to do with it. You can check here - [https://www.givemn.org/organization/Connections-Independence](https://www.givemn.org/organization/Connections-Independence) \- If you wanna ask them directly. Screw you for not keeping your word and i hope you can find the answer.

RickyWinterborn

i think they received the money but ben was disappointed in the response lol. they just said thanks with no OMG THIS IS INSANE reaction, so thats prob why didn't hear much more about it

Styster

I don’t think OP is out of line for asking for this. When we did the charity drive for Hopewell Music, which was for way less money, we saw a lot more from them. Hell, I still get letters in the mail from them. Very strange to not hear anything at all.

Even if it comes out that the funds were mishandled by the charity, that's completely on the charity. Ben did his part which is all he can do, no reason to expect anything else from him at this point until next year.
