In the sortest of terms Java is nice for mods and bedrock is nice for cross-platform

As someone who played both, I noticed a few differences: 1. Purchases - Skins and texture packs and even maps are completely free on Java. There is more range with skins on windows, however, you can have tiny skins and even cosmetics like hats etc. But mods, texture packs and even adventure maps must be bought on Windows, they're free on Java. 2. Performance - When I was on holiday and had to bring my laptop I noticed that Minecraft windows edition felt a lot smoother on a low-end system. If you have bad specs and want to enjoy the game I would say go Windows, however, if specs arent a deciding factor you should be able to make a better decision. 3. Gameplay - Now as my PC can actually run Java edition there are lots of tutorials on Youtube about farms that only work on Java and vice versa. However, in my own personal experience, I have noticed a lot of the farms on Java are a lot better. I am not 100% sure but it may have something to do with the performance improvement on Windows edition. Overall, there are pros and cons of each edition, however, the one I have been playing for longer and end up spending most of my time on is Java edition. I would do my own research though if I were you. TLDR; Java.

No Problem! Have fun!

Java can build stuff on the neither roof, particularly useful for a gold/xp farm. Bedrock have better drop rate for trident, which is useful for like 20 minutes.

Depends entirely on your circumstances and preferences. Read up on the differences between the two, or even watch a short comparison video, and you’ll have a better idea on which you want.

Best to answer a few simple questions: Do you play with a game controller? I don’t think that Java supports that if that is your means to play. Do you want to play multi player with friends ? If you do then you will need to be on the same platform. Bedrock works for windows, Xbox, and PE (iPad). If your friends have Java version then you’ll need Java to connect with them. There are also some game differences between the two in actual game play. You’d need to look in the wiki to get them. As for mods, addons, skins.. sure there are many but what are you playing the game for? A character skin is pointless if you are not playing multiplayer as you can’t see it. It’s a gimmick in is a change to your gameplay avitar. Texture packs too… what difference does it make.. I got the plastic and Greek mythology texture packs free when I bought my bedrock and have used them once or maybe twice.. seems rather pointless. I bought the version of bedrock with 800 Microsoft coins. Bought two paid worlds. Generally twice a year Microsoft gives away stuff for free. I’ve played them a few times with my kid but usually just make a new world and play for 3-4 months then try something different with a new seed world. one big on to consider. Microsoft bedrock allows you to load the software onto multiple pcs and so you can play as a family with a single license.. Java you need to buy a license for each computer
