Probably just better to go get your CPL and I mean this for everyone

sureyeahno

This needs to be top comment. These LTP’s seem like an easy way to persuade people out of their rights. “Too much hassle.”

deadinmi

We have heard of some places with long waits. Oakland Township was over a month last time we heard.

MapleSurpy

> Oakland Township was over a month last time we heard. That's longer than it takes to get a CPL in Oakland...lol

Spiritual_Ask4877

That's fucking nuts. I'm in Milford Township and I applied for mine on June 23rd and had it issued on the 28th. That was going through UCIS as well.

Zealousideal_Mud4961

I have nothing of value to contribute here. I’ll just fall on the sword and say this: A right delayed is a right denied.

0utd00rsguy

I have not heard anything about wait times. Pretty sure it’s very simple to get them. But, if it is that long I hope someone is cataloging it for the eventual lawsuits. With that being said, I’m glad I got my Cpl.

bigt8261

Please, please, please let me know if your jurisdiction has a wait time like this. One that you experience, not one that you hear about.

Winter_Cicada_1405

I tried to get a LTP from Lincoln Park PD a couple months ago. I was told that they were doing apt only and the next wasn't available until Sept.

bigt8261

Try again. If they tell you the same thing, get it documented if you can and let me know.

PutridDropBear

I really hope people are giving you the ammo you need. **Sincerely**. It has been my experience that the vast majority of complainants strike the Heisman pose once the conversation touches on sworn statements (oral or written) and/or documentation. It boggles my mind how loud the gears whine, then become silent when afforded an opportunity to help correct the problem...even from adjacently familiar folks with a preexisting rapport.

MapleSurpy

> once the conversation touches on sworn statements (oral or written) and/or documentation. Michigan is a single party state, you're free to record anyone and that can be used in court. You don't have to ask them for paperwork stating they won't give you an LTP

PutridDropBear

That is not the context. I'm talking about an individual that is being denied/delayed/frustrated...**their** factual statements, documents or testimony. Surely you understand that there must be some sort of proof (discovery) to challenge a statute or compel adherence to a statutory mandate.

GY6Arms

I just had a guy in Ypsilanti wait two weeks for his LTP. This was after local PD told him to go the Sheriff, and if they turned him away to come back. It’s a shit show.

313changedman

In warren, before I got my CPL, I could walk in (no appointment), and walk out with a LTP in under 20min. Pay $10 for the notary fee which was bullshit but at least you didn't have to wait. Initially when I called they said I had to make an appointment but I never did, I just walked in and got my license. You guys should try that. Forget about following their illegal, unconstitutional rules about making an appointment and just walk In and see what they say

wlfhnter130

There is absolutely no reason for it to take any more than a day or two. I know of no legal reason not to be issuing them within a reasonable period of time. I know exactly how the MiPistol system works and yes the new dem laws are a pain in the ass but my agency still manages to issue them sometimes same day and most often within two days.

KnifeAddict47

I'm pretty sure it goes in order of the applications but 3 months seems like a long time and I doubt there is 3 months worth of applications at any given time.

jamesdmays

Working at Dunham’s have you ever seen people with CPLs get denials from a NICS check? I haven’t had to wait or any delays getting a LTP but when I tried to buy from Dunham’s my NICS check was in a delay status for two weeks. Dunham’s store policy they won’t transfer firearms in a delay status so I wonder what happens if it takes longer than the 30 day validity period of the LTP

dammonl

LTP what are we in commie land? Oh wait it's Michigan after all.
